Blues look to Stay Alive in All-Important Fifth Game

Attempting to close out the series in five games, the Nashville Predators will invade the Scottrade Center tonight with a ticket to the Western Conference final on the line. The Blues have been soundly outplayed for the majority of this series but they’re a little unlucky this thing isn’t tied at two games each. Nashville’s game-Sportsbook in Game 4 was probably the worst goal of the playoffs so far and the Notes will now have to pull off a feat that only 9.66 percent of teams do – come back from going down 3-1.

SHARK BITES
  • The visiting team is 2-8 SU in its last 10 games in this matchup.
  • The Predators are 3-13 SU in their last 16 games as underdogs against the Blues.
  • Pekka Rinne has a .948 5-on-5 save percentage in the Preds’ 4 road games this postseason.

Despite looking like the much better all-around team in this best-of-seven, the Preds opened Game 5 as the slight underdogs. Pekka Rinne and the Preds have the Blues on the ropes and if their goal-stopper continues his stellar postseason play, they’ll be delivering the knockout punch this evening.

St. Louis has struggled to score on a consistent basis all spring and it’s caught up to them in this series. Jake Allen has regressed to the mean and the Blues have not picked up their netminder at the offensive end. A positive note, though: St. Louis outshot its opponent last contest, something the Blues have not been doing often this postseason. Expect a more robust effort from the Blues offense this evening after they created some good chances in Game 4.

Rinne has not been great in either of his two starts in St. Lou this series and I’m predicting that this trend continues and that the Blues extend this best-of-seven to Game 6 with a win tonight.
