NHL Betting: Sharks vs. Kings

The Sharks were bitten by some undisciplined penalties last time out, but the oddsmakers have them favored on the road against the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday night in NHL playoff betting action.

San Jose (-120 at Bovada) must stay out of the penalty box for Game 3 if it hopes to avenge a 4-0 upset to the Los Angeles Kings in Game 2 that tied the best-of-seven Western Conference first-round playoff series. The Kings have three power-play goals in the series thus far.

San Jose must also get back to doing the little things that carried them into second place in the conference after a rough first half of the season. They are 0 for 7 on the power play and need to get that rolling or it could be a short postseason for the Sharks.

The Kings are relying heavily on goaltender Jonathan Quick and puck-moving defenseman Drew Doughty, who scored on the power play in Game 2. It could be tough for the Kings to finish off the highly-skilled Sharks offense, especially without their superstar sniper Anze Kopitar.

The teams split the season series, but the Sharks have won three of the last five in Los Angeles. San Jose could get a ton of action on the NHL betting lines for Game 3 with its record at Staples Center.

Totals betting could see some action on the UNDER bet with the Kings games paying the UNDER nearly 2/1 during the regular season.

Washington will try to take a commanding 3-1 lead in their first-round Eastern Conference series with the New York Rangers when the teams take to the ice for Game 4 on Wednesday at Madison Square Garden.

The Rangers are small -115 favorites at home against the Capitals on the NHL betting lines. All three games in this playoff series have been won by the home team, and that should give New York a slight edge with bettors in Game 4.

New York was rewarded for its hard work when Brandon Dubinsky scored with 1:39 remaining to lift the Rangers to a Game 3 victory and new life against a Capitals team they feel they can upset.

While the Capitals are the series favorites (-350 at Sportsbook.ag), the Rangers did take the season series 3-1. At +270 for a series upset the Rangers could be more than worth the wager.

The teams are 1-3-1 OU in their past five head-to-head matchups and that should see the UNDER get serious consideration in totals betting for Game 4.
