NHL Betting: Western Conference Odds

The Vancouver Canucks were the preseason favorites on the odds to win the NHL Western Conference at the sportsbooks, but they've since fallen behind the streaking Chicago Blackhawks on those NHL futures.

Two months ago the Canucks were at 9/2 and the Blackhawks were at 13/2 on the NHL Western Conference odds at Bovada, but now it's Chicago at 2/1 and Vancouver at 6/1, followed by the Anaheim Ducks and the St. Louis Blues - who are both at 13/2 on that list.

The Los Angeles Kings then sit at 9/1 on the Western Conference betting odds - down from 13/2 two months ago - as they try to repeat as West champs this season. The San Jose Sharks, who have cooled off since a hot start to the year, are at 10/1 odds.

The Minnesota Wild (14/1), Detroit Red Wings (18/1), and Nashville Predators (18/1) round out the second tier of contenders on the odds to win the Western Conference, followed by the Edmonton Oilers at 20/1; the Oilers opened the season at 9/1 on the list.

The Dallas Stars (22/1), Phoenix Coyotes (25/1), Calgary Flames (45/1), Colorado Avalanche (60/1), and Columbus Blue Jackets (250/1) round out the current odds to win the NHL Western Conference at Bovada.

The Los Angeles Kings rolled through the Western Conference side of the NHL's playoff bracket last season en route to their first title in franchise history, but they're only second on the NHL betting odds at the sportsbooks to win the West heading into this season.

Los Angeles sits tied with the Chicago Blackhawks at 13/2 on the odds to win the Western Conference at Bovada, with both of those teams currently trailing the 9/2 Vancouver Canucks on those NHL futures.

Vancouver was the top seed in the Western Conference heading into last year's playoffs, but they choked against the Kings in the first round in a five-game loss. The Canucks head into the season looking to trade away goaltender Roberto Luongo, who has lost his starting gig to former understudy Cory Schneider.

The St. Louis Blues, who the Kings swept in the second round of last year's playoffs, are then at 7/1 on the odds to win the Western Conference at Bovada, followed by the Detroit Red Wings at 8/1. The Red Wings fell in five games to the Nashville Predators in the first round of last year's playoffs, and star defenseman Nicklas Lidstrom retired over the summer.

The Edmonton Oilers and Minnesota Wild are then both at 9/1 on the odds to win the West, with the Wild ready to debut expensive offseason acquisitions Zach Parise and Ryan Suter when the season gets underway. The San Jose Sharks sit at 11/1 odds and Suter's former team, the Predators, are at 16/1 odds.
