It’s a busy Saturday in NHL betting action this weekend but the matchup between the New York Rangers and Toronto Maple Leafs at the Air Canada Centre will get a large chunk of the attention of hockey fans.
Toronto has been playing well and had won four straight heading into the weekend NHL betting schedule. The Rangers had been the league’s hottest team with nine wins in their past 10 games before taking on the Senators on Thursday.
The Rangers also hold down first place in the Eastern Conference and are looking to challenge for the overall lead. Most of the action from bettors will be on the Rangers on the NHL betting lines at 5Dimes.
Toronto cannot be discounted in this matchup however, as the Maple Leafs have defeated the Rangers in both encounters this season. Three straight head-to-head matchups have made winners of OVER bettors in totals betting.
An afternoon betting matinee has the struggling Chicago Blackhawks trying to keep some distance between themselves and the Detroit Red Wings in the Western Conference standings when they face off at Joe Louis Arena.
Detroit has been nearly unbeatable at home with just two regulation losses before playing Phoenix on Thursday, and they have split a pair of games with the Blackhawks as road underdogs in their meetings so far this year.
Seven of the past 10 games between these teams have sent UNDER bettors to the payout window in totals betting.
Pittsburgh is hurting with injuries and in danger of not making the playoffs if they don’t start to get some much-needed wins. The Penguins will travel south for a rematch on Sunday with the Tampa Bay Lightning, who defeated them in the playoffs last season.
Tampa Bay also defeated the Penguins 4-1 at home in an earlier meeting and they too need to get things going before they find themselves with no chance of a run for the Stanley Cup again.
