NHL Odds: Canadiens vs. Flyers

Philadelphia is proving to be the most consistent team in the NHL heading into the All-Star Break. They will be heavy -180 favorites when they host the +160 road underdog Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday night in NHL betting action.

Philadelphia has won back-to-back games against Montreal and they are 9-2-0 during the month of January. As the hottest team in the league with 32 wins entering this game, it’s hard not to lay your money down with the home favorite Flyers.

They have also rewarded loyal Flyers bettors with a solid 23-12 payout record when labelled as NHL moneyline favorites.

Tuesday games offer great betting value and there are fun prop odds on which player will be selected first.

The Canadiens are 7-1-3 since the end of December, and have one win over the Flyers this season. Carey Price did shut down Philly with a 41-save performance, and more of the same is necessary for the Canadiens to pull off the upset.

With Montreal leading in defensive categories and owning a better power play, it will be important for them to stay out of the box against the league’s best offense.

The Canadiens average below two goals per game against the Flyers and need scoring from elsewhere, especially without the injured Mike Cammalleri in uniform.  Philadelphia, meanwhile, is scoring nearly four goals per game against the Habs. These teams have not lit the lamp head-to-head this season against each other, sending UNDER bettors to the payout window on two of three occasions in totals betting.

In other midweek NHL betting action it’s the surprising Nashville Predators who will be road underdogs on Wednesday against the Vancouver Canucks, who are in a slump. The Predators split the season series with Vancouver last year and lead 3-2 in their past five head-to-head matchups.

To take one from the Canucks in their own barn won’t be an easy task for the Predators. Vancouver is where the smart money will be placed, but the Canucks are vulnerable and could be ripe for the picking.

The OVER/UNDER total should be set at around 5.5 for this contest - and with the history of these teams head-to-head it’s the OVER bettor who could profit.
