NHL Odds Preview: Pens, Flyers
The Atlantic Division is the tightest in the NHL and two of those teams face each other in NHL betting action on Thursday with Philadelphia heading to Pittsburgh for a date with their state rivals.
Philadelphia defeated the Penguins 3-2 at home as a -120 favorite in early December, but it’s likely that Pittsburgh will be a slight home favorite in this contest at 5Dimes.
The Flyers have been struggling since learning that stud defenseman Chris Pronger was lost for the season, dropping four of their last five games. Pittsburgh has managed to surge ahead since losing Sidney Crosby and look to extend their winning streak to five games with a win in this matchup.
Four of the last five head-to-head meetings have made winners of UNDER bettors in totals betting.
Los Angeles also faces off against the Jets in Winnipeg in NHL betting action on Thursday night. The Kings will be slight road underdogs at 5Dimes against the Jets, who have been excellent on home ice.
The Jets have 12 of their 17 victories at the MTS Centre so far this season, and will be sure to draw most of the attention on the NHL betting lines in this contest. Los Angeles will be a force to be reckoned with however, as they’ve turned the tide in winning three of their last four games heading into Wednesday's action.
Five of the last six head-to-head have sent OVER bettors to the payout window in totals betting.
Detroit has been phenomenal and had the same number of wins (23) as the league-leading Blackhawks entering Wednesday night’s action. These two will meet in NHL betting action at 5Dimes on Friday night in the Windy City.
Chicago had lost just twice on home ice before hosting the Kings on Wednesday. The Blackhawks will be home favorites in this contest and will draw plenty of action from bettors on the NHL betting lines.
