Sens Look to Rebound After a Flat Performance in Game 4

Ottawa was bound to cool down at some point and with all the bounces falling the Rangers’ way in Game 3, the Senators failed to cash their seventh underdog bet of the postseason. They will, however, get another chance to do that tonight when they head into Madison Square Garden as massive moneyline underdogs as the Sens look to take their series with the Blueshirts back to Ottawa with a 3-1 lead.

SHARK BITES
  • The Senators are 6-2 SU this postseason as a moneyline underdog
  • The Rangers are 3-7 SU in their last 10 games after a win.
  • Craig Anderson now has a .948 save percentage and a 7-3 SU record in his last 10 starts at MSG.

Given how the Sens have played this postseason – and how resilient they’ve been – it would really not be smart to not at least consider their moneyline tonight. Ottawa has yet to lose back-to-back games in the playoffs and the Sens now have 30 underdog wins since the beginning of the 2016-17 regular season.

The Rangers received a few key bounces on Tuesday night and one in particular led to Michael Grabner bagging his fourth goal of the playoffs. Craig Anderson got his wires crossed with no-name D-man Ben Harpur and coughed the puck up behind the net to the Rangers’ second-leading goal scorer and he – unlike Anderson – made no mistake. If it hadn’t been for that game-winning goal, the Sens would not have had to chase the lead like they did and I suspect it would have been a tighter finish.

Mats Zuccarello, Mika Zibanejad and Grabner made up the best forward line of the night but other than that, the Rangers had little to offer in the way of offense. Expect Guy Boucher to make the necessary adjustments to lock those boys down and get his club back playing the hockey that got them to this point.
