Pens, Jackets on NHL Betting
Lucrative Pittsburgh is shooting up the standings, and because of an eight-game winning streak they now lead the Atlantic Division. They will face off in NHL betting against the suddenly-cold Blue Jackets in Columbus on Saturday night.
Sidney Crosby continues to dazzle as he scored a natural hat trick to lead the Penguins to a 3-2 win on NHL lines at Bovada on Thursday, ending Atlanta’s six-game winning streak.
The Blue Jackets had won five in a row before losing three straight heading into the weekend. Goaltender Steve Mason will need to shut down the high-flying Crosby and company if his team stands any chance of earning the win at home, where they are just 6-6-1.
Columbus needs to make a breakthrough on the power-play, but the Penguins own the second-best penalty-killing unit in the league. The lone bright spot for the Blue Jackets is their 8-4 record when being tagged with underdog status; their hopes on NHL betting might be pinned on that stat alone.
The Penguins have nine road wins, which accounts for just over half of their total this season. Betting against them could be a hit in the wallet, especially since the Blue Jackets trail the Penguins in all significant categories.
Those doing totals betting will be lining up for a wager on this game on the NHL lines at Bovada, with eight of their previous 10 head-to-head meetings seeing the OVER payout.
