Rangers, Stars on NHL lines

More than half of the New York Rangers' wins have come on the road this season. They provide good value as +115 road underdogs against the -135 favorite Dallas Stars on Friday night on the NHL betting lines.

New York snuck past the Hurricanes 2-1 last time out, snapping a two-game slide. They welcome the road - posting a 13-7-1 record there. The Rangers have seven players with 20 or more points, packing a well-balanced punch, and Henrik Lundqvist sports a 2.34 goals-against average.

The Rangers lead the Stars in nearly every category, except power-play goals. If they can stay out of the penalty box the Rangers could be a good road underdog wager. They also defeated Dallas in their only meeting 5-2 last season.

Dallas has found its rhythm since a slight skid, coming off back-to-back wins over St. Louis and the defending-champion Blackhawks. It will be tough to knock off the Pacific-leading Stars at home, where they are a solid 12-6-3.

Brad Richards and Loui Eriksson lead the high-scoring team with 47 and 44 points respectively, while putting up four points combined in their latest victory.

Totals bettors might expect a low-scoring affair between the two, but OVER payouts have been common among these two teams with six of the previous 10 rewarding OVER bettors.

NHL betting lines heat up on Saturday when the Detroit Red Wings and Vancouver Canucks do battle in a late marquee matchup. This game could be a preview of the conference final, with both teams sitting at the top of the league standings.

Vancouver has won seven straight heading into the weekend, and has lost just three times at home this season. It bodes well for them as likely favorites against the Red Wings, who did defeat the Canucks 5-4 earlier this season.

The road has been kind to the Red Wings, where they are 12-5-1 this season. Recent injuries mean no off-nights for the veteran-laden squad, and with 10 players with 20 or more points its depth could help them earn back-to-back wins over the NHL-leading Canucks.

Detroit is feeling the injuries - after dropping two straight they rebounded with a hard-fought 5-3 victory over the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday. A game against a team they have had success over might be what they need to get a hot streak going again. Detroit could be a good underdog bet with a 7-3 head-to-head mark over 10 contests.

The most likely betting possibility seems to lie with totals bettors. The teams have combined for 45 goals in sending OVER bettors to the payout window in five straight head-to-head contests.
