Red Wings, Ducks NHL line
Back-to-back wins for Detroit over Anaheim is enough for sportsbooks to list the Red Wings as -135 favorites on hockey odds for Friday night against the +115 home underdog Ducks.
Anaheim has done well with seven wins when pegged with underdog status on the NHL line this year, while Detroit is a staggering 13-5 as a favorite on hockey odds. The smart money is with the Red Wings on that Bovada line, but it’s hard to ignore the Ducks' 9-4-1 home record.
Detroit won the two previous meetings at home, with the last game seeing a close 5-4 Red Wings victory. The Ducks, meanwhile, have won the previous two at home on the NHL line against Detroit and could provide excellent value in a home underdog wager.
The Red Wings lead the Western Conference and are winners of three straight - including a 5-3 victory over San Jose, who eliminated them in last season’s playoffs. The Ducks are also riding a three-game winning streak entering this contest, with wins coming against highly-regarded Phoenix and Los Angeles.
The Ducks used their six defenders equally and all were plus players in the win over the Kings. A repeat performance would go a long way in helping provide an NHL betting upset over the Red Wings.
While four of the previous five head-to-head matchups have rewarded UNDER bettors, the Red Wings are the highest-scoring team in the league. Detroit and Anaheim also combined for nine goals in their last game.
