Stamkos broken leg: Olympic odds
When Steve Stamkos damaged his leg Monday night in Boston it did more than damage Tampa Bay's hopes of beating the Bruins.
It also damaged the Lightning's Stanley Cup odds, pushing them to 28/1 from 20/1 at online sportsbooks such as Bovada while also impacting Canada's hopes for Olympic gold in Sochi.
Canada dropped to 12/5 odds this morning at Bovada, while Russia's Olympic hockey odds moved lower to 2/1. The host team had been slight favorites.
Stamkos was tied for the NHL scoring lead with Sidney Crosby on Tuesday morning. The pair were likely linemates - or at least power play partners - for Team Canada as the Canadians aim to defend Olympic gold in February.
He broke his leg in the second period while backchecking and crashing into the post. There was no immediate timetable for his return, but surgery was expected shortly.
