We're down to four teams in the hunt for the Stanley Cup, which has improved the Vancouver Canucks' odds of finally winning their first championship.

Vancouver has been the Cup favorite since the puck dropped on the postseason, and after taking care of Nashville in six games in the second round they're now listed at 17/10 at . A big reason for the Canucks' defeat of the Predators was the play of Ryan Kesler - he leads the Canucks with 15 points in the postseason, 11 of which (five goals, six assists) came versus Nashville. If the Canucks finally do win the Cup look for Kesler to get consideration for the Conn Smythe Trophy.

In the Eastern Conference the Cup favorites are the Boston Bruins; at they're currently listed at 5/2 on the Stanley Cup futures. Boston got some revenge on the Flyers in the second round, sweeping Philly in four straight games. It didn't come without some cost though, as Patrice Bergeron suffered a concussion and is expected to miss the series opener versus Tampa Bay this weekend. Bergeron could be a big loss for Boston, because not only does he lead the Bruins in playoff scoring with 12 points but he's also one of Boston's best faceoff men.

Next in line on the Cup futures is San Jose at 3/1. The Sharks nearly blew a 3-0 lead on Detroit in the second round before escaping with a win in Game 7. The Sharks are back in the conference final for the second straight year; last season they didn't win a single game in the round, getting swept by the Blackhawks. San Jose was 1-3 versus the Canucks this season so Sharks fans may need to be ready for another disappointing end to the season.

The underdogs on the Cup odds at are the Tampa Bay Lightning at 7/2. Tampa Bay has been the underdog in both of its series so far but upset Pittsburgh and Washington, which included a surprising four-game sweep of the Capitals. The Lightning's MVP so far has been goalie Dwayne Roloson, who has the best goals-against average and save percentage among starting goalies in the playoffs. Also worth noting is that the Lightning have four players in the Top 11 in playoff scoring, led by Martin St. Louis with 13 points in 11 games.

Odds to Win Stanley Cup at as of May 13:

Vancouver 17/10
Boston 5/2
San Jose 3/1
Tampa Bay 7/2

After surviving a grueling battle with the Chicago Blackhawks in the opening round the Vancouver Canucks remain the favorite to hoist the Stanley Cup at Sportsbook.ag.

Vancouver started the postseason soaring with three straight wins over the Blackhawks to take a commanding 3-0 lead in the series. The Canucks came back down to earth quickly though, losing the next three and igniting a goaltending controversy between Roberto Luongo and Cory Schneider. Luongo regained any trust he'd lost by backstopping Vancouver to a 2-1 OT win in Game 7.

Despite their difficulty in dispatching the Hawks, Vancouver has actually seen their odds improve at Sportsbook.ag. The Canucks began the postseason at +300 and currently sit at +250.

Following the Canucks on the Sportsbook.ag odds list are San Jose and Washington, both at +400. The Sharks got past Los Angeles in the opening round behind a solid series from Ryane Clowe, Patrick Marleau, and Logan Couture. It wasn't all smooth sailing for the Sharks, though. Antti Niemi struggled mightily at times versus the Kings with a 3.99 GAA in the series. He'll need to be much better than that for the Sharks to continue their playoff run.

The Capitals needed only five games to eliminate the Rangers in the opening round. Alex Ovechkin led the Caps with six points while Mike Green appears to be back to his old self, registering five points. Maybe more importantly, netminder Michal Neuvirth was a rock in nets with a 1.38 GAA. If Neuvirth can keep it up this could finally be Washington's year.

Rounding out the Top 5 on the Stanley Cup futures are Detroit at +450 and Boston at +500. The Red Wings swept the Coyotes in the opening round, which is just what they needed to get their injured players healthy. Henrik Zetterberg (knee) and Johan Franzen (ankle) are both banged up, and if they miss any of the second round it could be the difference between Detroit bowing out or moving on.

Odds to Win Stanley Cup at Sportsbook.ag as of April 28:

Vancouver +250
San Jose +400
Washington +400
Detroit +450
Boston +500
Tampa Bay +700
Philadelphia +700
Nashville +1500

-------------------------------
Start growing those playoff beards: The NHL playoffs have begun, and the Vancouver Canucks are the favorite on the Stanley Cup futures to hoist the Cup.

At Sportsbook.ag  the Canucks began the postseason as a +300 Cup favorite. To win their first Cup in franchise history the Canucks will first have to get through the defending champion Chicago Blackhawks in the opening round. Led by the Sedin twins, Henrik and Daniel, the Canucks posted the best record in the NHL this season.

Vancouver has even more scoring punch behind the Sedins from gritty forwards Ryan Kesler and Alex Burrows, and arguably the deepest blue line in the league fronted by Alex Edler, Christian Ehrhoff, and Kevin Bieksa. And we haven't even mentioned Roberto Luongo in nets. The only thing dogging the Canucks is a lousy playoff history that has seen them fail to get beyond the second round since their run to the Cup final back in 1994.

And what about the Canucks' first-round opponents, the Blackhawks? Some thought Chicago had the makings of a potential dynasty after last year's long-awaited Cup win, but after the salary cap forced them to blow up their roster they nearly missed the playoffs. Even after the offseason turnover the Blackhawks still have plenty of talent, led by Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane up front and Duncan Keith and Brent Seabrook on the blue line. Chicago is at +1500 to repeat at Sportsbook.ag but could easily be one and done versus Vancouver.

Behind Vancouver on the Sportsbook.ag futures list is a logjam of three teams - Detroit, San Jose, Washington - all at +600. The Red Wings will start the postseason without Henrik Zetterberg against the Phoenix Coyotes, so they'll need Pavel Datsyuk and playoff wonder Johan Franzen to step up to fill the void.

San Jose has a history of choking in the playoffs and returns with much the same lineup that bowed out in the conference final a year ago. Could the arrival of former Blackhawks goalie Antti Niemi finally take them the next step in the postseason?

The Capitals rather quietly finished the season with the best record in the Eastern Conference. We say quietly because, after adopting a more defensive style, their goal numbers were way down this season. Alexander Ovechkin scored a career-low 32 goals, but the Capitals' new style of play is supposed to be better suited for a long playoff run. Washington was bounced in the first round last season as the No. 1 seed and they can't afford another playoff upset when they meet up with the Rangers.

Odds to Win the Stanley Cup at Sportsbook.ag as of April 13:

Vancouver  +300
Detroit +600
San Jose +600
Washington +600
Philadelphia +800
Boston +900
Pittsburgh +1200
Chicago +1500
Tampa Bay +1500
Anaheim +1500
Los Angeles +2500
Nashville +2500
Buffalo +2500
Montreal +3000
NY Rangers +3000
Phoenix +3000
