Desperate Bolts Have Been Electric on the Back End of Back-to-Backs

Following a crucial win against the Maple Leafs, the Lightning will have to refocus and take on the Canadiens in yet another must-win matchup when the two square off in the lone NHL game this evening. Although the chances are slim, the Bolts can still sneak into the playoffs but only if they win out and the Leafs fails to earn a single point in their two remaining games.

SHARK BITES
  • The Lightning are 8-3 SU in their last 11 games against their division.
  • The total has gone UNDER in 9 of the Lightning's last 12 games with no days off between games.
  • The Lightning are 1-6 SU and on the puckline in their last 7 games against the Canadiens.

One of the single best trends for the Lightning tonight is their great success this season on the back end of back-to-backs. The Bolts have won six straight in that situation and will probably be the underdog tonight. Given their motivation, and the Canadiens’ lack thereof, a Tampa Bay moneyline bet would seem to be a wise one.

The advice I’ve been giving for these final few games of the season (when two teams with different motivations are playing each other) is to wait until you know who’s playing in goal for each team and keep a keen eye on the injury reports. If Shea Weber, Alexei Emelin and Jordie Benn are all scratched for the Habs tonight and Carey Price is given a game off, the Bolts’ chances of winning skyrocket.
