Rangers on Four-Game Win Streak Against Maple Buds

In the crowded Metropolitan Division, every point is important. The 28-13-1 New York Rangers know that all too well as they saw their early lead in the division melt away and have been as low as fourth below Pittsburgh, Washington and Columbus. They’ll take on the Maple Leafs at MSG tonight in the first half of their back-to-back that will finish with a matchup against the Atlantic-leading Montreal Canadiens.

SHARK BITES
  • The Maple Leafs are 0-4 in their last 4 games against the Rangers.
  • The Rangers are 7-1 on the ML and 6-2 on the PL in their last 8 games against teams with losing records.
  • The Rangers are 5-2 this season in the 1st half of back-to-backs.

The Leafs and Rangers both score over three goals a game but both give up their fair share as well. A shootout is likely on the horizon as the Rangers have scored five or more goals in four of their last five and the total has reached at least 6 in all of the Leafs’ last four games.

New York has been on quite the heater, winning 11 of its last 15 games, but with that said, the Maple Buds are fresh off a five-game winning streak and are starting to look like they could be one of the three teams to make it out of a horrendous Atlantic Division.

I’m not super confident in either of these teams tonight but I think it’s almost guaranteed to hit the OVER. If it doesn’t, feel free to hit me up on Twitter @robtrocity to tell me all about it.
