Tuesday NHL Playoff Odds Updates

Here we go again? The Sharks are the No. 1 seed in the West again, but are down 2-1 to the eighth seed Colorado Avalanche and even though Colorado is the underdog in this game all the pressure is on San Jose.

San Jose Sharks at Colorado Avalanche

Bovada has a moneyline for this game and has the visiting Sharks as the favorite posted at -160 as the favorite and the Avalanche at +140 with a total of 5.5 goals. [ The latest on the Sharks Avalanche odds, visit Bovada ]

In this series alone they have scored three game winning goals, but two of those goals went into their own net.

In Game 3 of this series, the Avalanche beat the Sharks 1-0 on a fateful own-goal in OT. In that game San Jose out-shot Colorado 51-17 and still lost the game.

San Jose was the fourth highest scoring team in the league this season, but in their two losses in this series they have only scored one goal.

The Sharks really have to turn back the clock to Game 2 when they scored six goals on Colorado G Craig Anderson. Anderson stopped 51 shots in Game 3 and for the series he has a GAA of 94.6%.

Dany Heatley, Patrick Marleau and Joe Thornton are on the Sharks’ top line that has really not produced so far this series. This trio needs to break out and give San Jose some offense tonight or they may be heading back to Northern California 3-1.

There was a ton of pressure on San Jose G Evgeni Nabokov coming into the series, as he, along with the Sharks, has been a major disappointment in the post season for the past few seasons. He needs to have a good game between the pipes tonight and for the series he only has a save percentage of 88.4%.

In three games in the Series Colorado has averaged around five minutes more in the penalty box, so San Jose really needs to take advantage when they have the man advantage.

San Jose is not having any problem getting shots on goal, but they need to start burying them or they are in for another disappointing playoff exit.

In the last nine games between these two teams the home team has won eight times.

Other NHL Playoff Odds Action

The Phoenix Coyotes have a 2-1 lead over the Detroit Red Wings, who are at home tonight, and they can really take control of their destiny with a win in Motor City.

The Penguins are up 2-1 on the Senators after losing Game 1 and after scoring five goals in Game 1 Ottawa has only scored three in the last two games. Tonight’s game is in Ottawa and if the Senators lose it is very unlikely that they will be advancing to the next round of the playoffs.

The Philadelphia Flyers are up 2-1 over the New Jersey Devils and are at home tonight and the Devils cannot rely on their defense to get them through to the next round. Unless New Jersey can generate some offense tonight they will be in a 1-3 hole in this series and the Flyers Devils odds will tip further in favor of Philly.

The Blackhawks and Predators are knotted up at a game apiece and the first game in Nashville is important for both teams, as the winner will have home ice. All the pressure is on Chicago, who is the second seed while Nashville is the seventh seed.
