Underdog NHL Bets on Midweek Odds
There are just four games on the NHL betting menu for Tuesday night, but it sure looks tantalizing for bettors who like big payouts on intelligent underdog bets.
Something has to give when underdog Boston takes on Washington. The Bruins are undefeated in both road games thus far, and the Capitals are 3-0 at home. Washington will be the heavy favorites on the Capitals Bruins odds lines when they face off at the Verizon Center.
Tim Thomas seems to have returned to his Vezina-winning form, stopping 31 shots in the Bruins' 4-1 win over New Jersey last time out. Thomas also gives underdog bettors optimism with a 10-4-2 record against Washington. Does that make betting on the big dog more appealing for a payout at the window?

The Flames have beaten Nashville four straight times in the Music City, and at +140 against the favorite Predators it looks to be the best upset bet of the night. Calgary was desperate for scoring, but finally got some Saturday when they netted five in a victory over the previously-undefeated Edmonton Oilers.
Nashville is off to its best start in five years with a 3-0-1 record, but Pekka Rinne will return to the net after missing three games with an injury and rust could play a factor.
Also on Tuesday; the slow-starting but -130 favorite Vancouver Canucks travel to Minnesota in search of their first road victory of the season against the +110 home underdog Wild. The Canucks rolled over the Hurricanes 5-1 in their last outing, while the Wild fell 3-2 to the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Carolina (+175) sits as a huge underdog when they visit the -210 moneyline favorite San Jose Sharks on Tuesday, where they have not won in regulation in over a decade. The Sharks have had nearly a week off since coming back from Sweden and need to play to get some rhythm, while the Hurricanes have logged thousands of air miles and are starting to show signs of fatigue.
Since two wins overseas against Minnesota they have lost two straight - and must travel to Phoenix for another road game before playing their home opener.
On Wednesday; Vancouver takes a jaunt over to play the red-hot favorite Chicago for its second straight game in as many nights. Looking at a road dog payoff might be a bit of a stretch in this contest. Carolina will play its second in a row in California, as they drive up the road to meet San Jose, who will be huge favorites in that game.
Anaheim tries to get its first win on the road when they face off against Columbus, who have yet to win at home. Check the puck line as well on each game at Bovada as this is often the best way to bet hockey games.
