Capitals Can Complete Sweep in Philly

To the surprise of nobody, the Washington Capitals can make quick work of the Philadelphia Flyers with a Game 4 win in the City of Brotherly Love Wednesday evening. The Caps extended their series lead to 3-0 with a 6-1 thrashing of the hapless Flyers Monday night at the Wells Fargo Center.

Shark Bites
  • The Capitals are 3-8 SU in their last 11 games on the road versus the Flyers.
  • The Flyers are 10-4 SU in their last 14 games at home.
  • The Flyers are 9-2 SU in their last 11 games as home underdogs in April.

The Flyers are +160 in moneyline markets at online book Sportsbook while the Capitals are -180 for Game 4. As far as the total is concerned, OVER and UNDER 5 goals is -110.

The Flyers, and their fans, were left frustrated in Game 3 as there were dirty hits and objects being thrown from the stands as things got ugly. Philly’s special teams also remain ugly as it has now gone 0-13 on the man advantage in the series.

Caps defenseman Brooks Orpik will miss Game 4 after sustaining an upper-body injury while Flyers forward Pierre-Edouard Bellemare will serve a one-game suspension for his hit on Caps defenseman Dmitry Orlov.

Furthermore, Braden Holtby, who has stopped 91 of 93 shots he has faced in the series, was dinged up a little in practice on Tuesday and had to leave the ice early. Head coach Barry Trotz has said he is expected to start Game 4, however.

Faves have been the name of the betting game when these two Metropolitan Division rivals tangle, however. The favored team has now gone 5-0 SU in the previous five games when these two meet.
