Austria Struggling to Score Goals

Marko Arnautovic Austria Euro 2016

Following an incredibly impressive qualifying campaign that saw them win nine games and draw one, many pegged Austria as a dark horse in Euro 2016. Now, with one game remaining in the group stage, they find themselves in last place in what has been a tricky group. A victory against Iceland could put those poor first two performances behind them and into the Round of 16.

CFL 2016: One Minute Betting Preview

The CFL season kicks off Thursday when the Hamilton Tiger-Cats take on the Toronto Argonauts.

The league is all about parity this year and in the above video I look at two elements to help you with your CFL wagering this season. Hope it helps you win some Canadian dollars.

Mets Seeking Big Performance Out of Syndergaard

The New York Mets’ bullpen will be hoping hard-throwing right-hander Noah Syndergaard can do some damage against the Kansas City Royals tonight. After starter Bartolo Colon exited following one batter with a right thumb contusion, the Mets’ bullpen worked 8.5 excellent innings in a 2-1 win on Tuesday.

Shark Bites
  • The total has gone OVER in four of the Royals' last five games on the road against the Mets.
  • The total has gone UNDER in seven of the Mets' last 10 games during the afternoon.
  • The Royals are 5-2 SU in their last seven games with Danny Duffy as the starting pitcher.

Danny Duffy is slated to counter for the Royals. Duffy (2-1, 3.17 ERA) has notched a 2-1 mark with a 3.25 ERA in seven starts since leaving the bullpen for the starting rotation. Duffy allowed one hit in 1.5 scoreless innings of relief in his last appearance against the Mets on April 5.

Syndergaard was the only hurler to record a win in New York’s lone triumph over the Royals in last year’s World Series. The fireballer has 11 quality starts this season and permitted just 18 earned runs in 85 innings of work.

Cubs Haven't Been Swept All Year

The Chicago Cubs haven’t been swept in a series all year long, but the St. Louis Cardinals will be looking to become the first team to do so on Wednesday.

Shark Bites
  • The visiting team is 4-0 SU in its last four games in this matchup.
  • The Cardinals are 7-0 SU in their last seven games on the road.
  • The total has gone UNDER in 14 of the Cubs' last 16 games as home favorites.

Michael Wacha and Jake Arrieta are slated to get the nod for the Cards and Cubbies, respectively. Wacha (2-7, 4.56 ERA) has dropped seven-straight decisions, with his last win coming against the Padres on April 23. Wacha has struggled against Chicago, going 3-4 with a 5.90 ERA in 10 career matchups with the North Siders.

Arrieta has won two-straight starts since collecting his first loss in over 10 months. Arrieta is 5-1 with a 2.09 ERA in 10 starts against the Cardinals and owns a miniscule ERA of 1.95 in 40 career outings at Wrigley Field.

Nationals Try to Avoid Sweep at Dodger Stadium

The Dodgers will send rookie Julio Urias to the mound in search of the series sweep of the NL East-leading Nationals, who will give the ball to Joe, the healthier of the two Ross brothers.

The Dodgers are 7-0  in their last 7 games against teams in the NL East.
The favored team is 11-2 in its last 13 games in this matchup.
The Nationals are 9-2 in their last 11 games on Wednesday.

Urias (0-2, 4.50 ERA) was called up this season as the number one prospect in the Dodgers' organization, but he has failed to live up to the hype so far and has been on a significant pitch limit. The rookie lefty hasn’t tossed more than 86 pitches through his five starts and has failed to pitch past the sixth inning. Julio was good his last time out, pitching five innings of shutout ball in which he racked up eight K’s.

Joe Ross (6-4, 3.13 ERA) was penciled in as the Nationals’ fifth starter this year and many thought he would be sent down to Triple-A at the first sign of trouble. The young righty, however, has pitched too well to be demoted and is giving the Nats a chance to win every game he starts.

Ross is 3-0 in his last five starts, which have all resulted in Washington wins, and will look to get revenge on a Dodgers team that beat up on him for five runs in Ross’s last and only start vs Los Angeles.

Detroit's Fulmer Looks to Continue Dominant Run

Two American League teams with identical 36-35 records will square off Wednesday as Seattle gives the ball to Hisashi Iwakuma (6-5, 4.18) to pitch against Detroit’s rookie right-hander, Michael Fulmer (7-2, 2.43 ERA).

The Tigers are 7-1 in their last 8 games with Michael Fulmer as the starting pitcher.
The Mariners are 1-3 in their last 4 games against the Tigers.
The Tigers are 1-4  in their last 5 games as a moneyline favorite of -125 or less.

Iwakuma has been a lock to go seven innings in his past five games. He has however, also been a lock to give up at least three runs. One thing Iwa has going for him is the right-handed dominant batting lineup of the Tigers. Right-handed batters are hitting .239 on Iwakuma compared to the gaudy .308 lefties are hitting off the veteran Japanese international.

Michael Fulmer was a highly touted prospect in the Tigers organization and through ten starts, he has proved the hype is real. Fulmer has allowed one – yes, one – run total in his last five starts and has only allowed two runs in his last 40 innings pitched. In two starts at home, the rookie is 2-0 with a 0.69 ERA.

With Iwakuma’s efficiency against righties and Fulmer’s dominance over his last six starts, a bet on the UNDER of the 8.5 run total may be pretty safe.

Giants are on Fire, Pirates are a Dumpster Fire

The Pittsburgh Pirates are on a serious slide, having lost 11 of their last 13 games, and might be in trouble today as they host the sizzling San Francisco Giants. The Giants are winners of nine of their last 10 and four of their last five road games.

Giants hitters have a combined .291 batting average in 79 at-bats vs Liriano

Francisco Liriano will be tasked with stopping the bleeding for the Bucs, but the lefty has been on a slide himself, recording a loss in four straight games while allowing a total of 16 earned runs in those contest. He has been a drastically different pitcher at home, however, putting up a 3-3 record with a 2.86 ERA in six starts at PNC Park.

The Giants will counter with Jeff Samardzija, who’s having a nice bounce back season after an ugly 2015. He’s coming off his best performance of the season — a complete game four-hitter in Tampa Bay where he allowed just one run. He’s likely not looking forward to facing Pirates’ outfielder Andrew McCutchen who has a .406 batting average in 32 at-bats against him.

Odds on LeBron James Leaving the Cavs

LeBron James Cleveland Cavaliers

When LeBron James came back to Cleveland in 2014 after an excursion to Miami, he made one promise: to bring a championship to Northeast Ohio. Thanks to a massive comeback over the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals, James and the rest of the Cleveland Cavaliers delivered on that promise. And what a story it was.

Now that Bron Bron has brought Cleveland its first championship since 1964, there’s no possible way he could leave again, right? Right?! No one knows at this point. One online book is offering odds on where No. 23 will suit up next season.

Ibrah Set for International Retirement

Sweden and Belgium will clash Wednesday in a match that will decide the fate of both teams. Belgium currently sits second in their group table with a 3-0 win over Ireland and 2-0 loss to Italy. Sweden has only one point in the tournament and needs a win vs Belgium if they want any chance at moving on.
