That's why it may be wiser to put your money down on tournament matchup props at Bovada. Tournament matchup odds give you an option of two players, and all you have to do is simply pick who you think is going to have the better score at the end of the event. It's easy!

Take a look for yourself:

Betting at Vegas Sportsbooks for Beginners

Vegas sportsbook

Back in the old days, it was a bit more intimidating to go into a Las Vegas sportsbook and make a bet. You had mostly sides and totals, and the ticket takers behind the counter might look at you funny if you did not know the number associated with the wager you wanted to make. Today, sportsbook employees are a lot friendlier and focused on customer service because they want you coming back to their window.

Fantastic UNDER Scenario at Minute Maid Park Tonight

Jose Altuve Houston Astros

The New York Yankees may have moved three games over .500 for the first time this season, but it’s quite clear they’re in seller mode after dealing Aroldis Chapman to the Chicago Cubs. The Bronx Bombers are set to invade Minute Maid Park on Tuesday for a date with the Houston Astros.

Shark Bites
  • The visiting team is 5-2 SU in its last seven games in this matchup.
  • The total has gone UNDER in 16 of the Astros' last 20 games after losing the previous game in a matchup.
  • The Astros are 5-1 SU in their last six games after a loss.

CC Sabathia and Doug Fister are the probable starters for the game. Sabathia’s (5-8, 4.04 ERA) winless drought reached six starts last week against the Orioles. The big lefty has given up five homers during his winless spell after yielding only two in his first 11 outings.

When the Yanks and ‘Stros collide in Texas, the UNDER is red-hot. Ten of the last 11 matchups between the squads at Texas have gone below the total.

Archer Boasts a Bloated ERA on the Road

The Los Angeles Dodgers and Tampa Bay Rays are two teams that don’t see much of each other, but they’ll face off on Tuesday when they begin a two-game interleague set in the Golden State.

Shark Bites
  • The total has gone UNDER in seven of the Dodgers' last 10 games against teams with losing records.
  • The Dodgers are 10-4 SU in their last 14 games with a closing total of 7.5 or less.
  • The total has gone UNDER in the Rays' last five games against teams with winning records.

Chris Archer and Bud Norris are slated to take the hill. Archer (5-13, 4.60 ERA) snapped a six-game losing streak in his last time out, but he’s been atrocious on the road. Archer is 4-6 with a 6.37 ERA away from Tropicana Field this year.

Norris (5-9, 4.56) is 1-2 with a 4.62 ERA in seven games against the Rays. The 31-year-old threw six scoreless innings in his first outing with the Dodgers but proceeded to allow 13 runs over 15 innings in his next three starts.

Home-field advantage has been huge in this series. Visiting clubs are a measly 1-6 in the last seven games between the Dodgers and Rays.

Shields and Hendricks Both Hot in the Month of July

The White Sox took the first game in the Chicago Showdown in a surprising upset of Cubs ace Jake Arrieta last night. The South Siders will be underdogs yet again tonight as they send James Shields (4-12, 4.99 ERA) to the bump to face Kyle Hendricks (9-6, 2.27 ERA).

The Cubs are 6-0 in their last 6 games with Kyle Hendricks as the starting pitcher.
The total has gone UNDER in 8 of the Cubs' last 10 games.
The total has gone OVER in the White Sox' last 6 games after winning as an underdog.

“Big Game” James had a rough introduction with the White Sox but since the end of June, has actually been really good. Shields has not allowed more than two runs in a start since June 23 and has posted five straight quality starts.

Hendricks has been absolutely lights out for well over a month now and is yet to allow an earned run in three July starts at Wrigley. He has not been quite as efficient on the road, though, in eight road starts Hendricks has posted a 3.63 ERA and has only come away with two wins.

The Cubs are a tough team to bet against but I think the trends give the White Sox moneyline a ton of value.

Division Leaders Collide Tonight in Cleveland

Harper Nationals

It’s the best in the AL Central vs the best in the NL East when the Nationals and Indians open up a two-game series tonight in Cleveland. The Tribe sends their best pitcher to the mound tonight with Danny Salazar looking to improve on his 11-3 record and 2.75 ERA. The Indians have been rolling when Salazar starts, winning eight of the last nine games he’s pitched in.

It’s a small sample size with only three starts in July so far, but Salazar is having his worst month of the season. Salazar has a 5.50 ERA on the month and has allowed batters to hit for a .316 average.

Gio Gonzalez gets the ball for the Nats and he’s not exactly lighting it up in his contract year. Despite a 4.53 ERA, Washington has won three of his last four starts. Gonzalez has had success against Indians’ hitters, as he’s limited them to a .237 average and two home runs in 76 combined at-bats. The Nats have also had their way their way with American League clubs lately, posting a 9-3 record in their last 12 interleague games.

The total for tonight’s game comes in at 8 runs. Cleveland has gone OVER in six straight games with a closing total of 8.0 or less, while Washington has gone OVER in three straight games with a day off between games.
