The Boston Red Sox spent the first half of the season worrying about their starting pitching rotation, but things look just fine as the season reaches late July. Next up on the docket for the BoSox is a home date with the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday.
The Giants are 0-4 SU in their last 4 games on the road.
The UNDER is 3-1 in the Giants' last 4 games after a loss.
The Red Sox are 7-1 SU in their last 8 games.
Matt Cain and Drew Pomeranz are slated to get the start. Cain (1-5, 5.34 ERA) has been out for two months with a hamstring injury that he suffered on May 27. The veteran was hammered for nine runs on 10 hits over four innings in his last minor league rehab start on Friday.
Pomeranz (8-7, 2.47) made the National League All-Star team for San Diego before getting dealt to the Sox. Pomeranz dominated in his final three outings before the break, allowing a total of one run and 10 hits in 21 innings. The White Sox are 6-2 SU in their last eight games during the afternoon.
The White Sox are 0-4 SU in their last four games as underdogs against the Mariners.
Miguel Gonzalez and Felix Hernandez will take the bump for the ChiSox and M’s, respectively. Hernandez (4-4, 2.86 ERA) is making his first start in seven-plus weeks after suffering a calf injury against the Minnesota Twins on May 27. He will be activated from the disabled list prior to the contest.
Gonzalez (2-5, 4.40) has dropped four of his last five decisions and gave at least seven runs in two of the outings. Gonzalez is 1-1 with a 4.50 ERA in three career starts against the Mariners.
Favorites are paying out at the betting window when these teams collide. In the last 10 matchups between the Sox and Mariners, favorites are a fantastic 9-1.
The Los Angeles Dodgers haven’t gained much ground in the National League West race since the All-Star break but they’ll have an opportunity to try and catch the San Francisco Giants when they tangle with the Washington Nationals on Wednesday.
The Nationals are 5-1 in their last 6 games on Wednesday.
The UNDER is 6-2 in the Dodgers' last 8 games.

J.J. Hardy is batting .467 with three home runs and four RBIs in his career against Michael Pineda.
The UNDER is 3-0 in the past three games between the Orioles and Yankees.
The Yankees are 6-2 in their past eight games as moneyline favorites of -170 or more.
Yovani Gallardo has been atrocious when pitching on the road this season, as the righty has a 7.39 ERA in six starts away from Camden Yards. The Orioles are likely concerned about Gallardo’s inability to pitch deep into games, as he has only made it through the sixth inning twice this year.
Yankees’ manager Joe Girardi will be forced to send Michael Pineda to the mound after the skipper said there is no other option to take his place in the rotation. Pineda has surrendered five earned runs in each of his past two starts, which increased his ERA to 5.56 on the year.
The Mets are right in the middle of a tight NL playoff race and they will take on America’s Cubs tonight in hopes of taking the series against the NL Central leaders. New York will send the ageless Bartolo Colon (8-4, 3.11 ERA) to the mound to take on Kyle Hendricks (8-6, 2.41 ERA).
SHARK BITES The Mets are 9-1 in their last 10 games against the Cubs. The Cubs are 5-0 in their last five games with Hendricks as their starter. The total has gone UNDER in the Mets' last seven games on the road.
Colon keeps flipping the hour glass that is dripping down to the end of his career and has given the Mets seven wins in his last eight starts. In his only start against the Cubs this year, Bartolo got a win in a six-inning four-hitter in which he gave up only two runs.
Kyle Hendricks has very quietly put together an excellent season. In nine starts at Wrigley, the not-so-hard throwing righty has earned a 6-1, posted a 1.50 ERA and batters have hit a paltry .189 off of him. Hendricks has been overshadowed by Jake Arrieta the past couple seasons but he has proven he is a legit front-end starter.
Both these teams are hot with their respective pitchers on the mound but the Cubs probably have the edge here. The Mets are 3-8 in their last 11 games at Wrigley Field.
For a long time, the Premier League had been one of the toughest leagues to crack into the top tier because of the amount of money the top teams had available to buy the best players. Leicester City turned that trend on its head last year, winning the league with a 36.6-million-euro total salary compared to the top clubs that all boasted total salaries well over 100 million euros.
