Bud Black: First Manager Fired Odds

It’s nice to be at the top, but when that recognition stems from the fact people figure you will fail, it’s not quite as much fun.

Such is the quandary of San Diego Padres manager Bud Black, who tops the ‘Which MLB manager will be fired first in 2012’ odds at one online sportsbook.

Two years removed from NL Manager of the Year honors, Black is 3/1 at Bovada to be the first manager canned. The Padre roster is thin.

2012 Masters Betting Preview

Tiger Woods is always a favorite on the golf odds at The Masters, and he'll probably draw even more attention on those betting lines this time around since he finally added another tournament victory to his resume. Woods ended a long drought by winning the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill at the end of March, claiming that tournament by five strokes over Graeme McDowell.

NCAAB Futures: Kentucky Favored

The championship roster of the Kentucky Wildcats is likely to face a lot of upheaval this spring, but that hasn't prevented them from being listed as the favorites at the sportsbooks to win the NCAA Tournament once again in 2013.

The Wildcats closed out their season with a 67-59 victory over the Kansas Jayhawks, paying out on the March Madness odds with that title game win. Kentucky had previously rolled through Western Kentucky, Iowa State, Indiana, Baylor, and Louisville at the Big Dance.

National League Pennant Betting

It's been the general feeling that the Philadelphia Phillies have had the best team in the National League for about the last four seasons.

Philly won back-to-back pennants a couple years ago, but they've lost in the NL playoffs the last two seasons. This year the Phillies are again the favorites to win the NL, but as we've seen that guarantees nothing.

American League Pennant Race Betting

The Texas Rangers are the two-time defending American League champions, but they'll have their hands full going for a three-peat this season. The New York Yankees won 97 games last year, and got better over the off-season. The Detroit Tigers made it to the ALCS last year, then signed Prince Fielder. And the Los Angeles Angels, perennial contenders, made the biggest off-season splash, signing one of the great bats of our time, Albert Pujols.

76ers Heat: NBA odds preview

Philadelphia has lost 16 of its past 18 trips to Miami and they are 9-point underdogs to lose again today in NBA wagering action.

AmericanAirlines Arena features the host Heat, the third-highest scoring team in the league, against the visiting 76ers, the league's second-best defensive team.

After a fast start, supporters of the 76ers have seen profits go up in a smoke during a six-week slump. The 76ers have not won here since Feb. 23, 2008.

NL Central Betting Preview

The other three NL Central Division teams seem destined for also-ran status.

NL West Betting Preview

The Arizona Diamondbacks emerged as a longshot division champion last year and will now try to parlay their combination of good pitching and timely hitting into back-to-back crowns.

But they'll have their hands full with the still pitching-rich San Francisco Giants and possibly even the Los Angeles Dodgers, who are hoping to put the McCourt era behind them.

Here's a quick summary of the upcoming season in the NL West, and a look at the NL West betting board posted at Bovada.
