NFL Betting: Raiders dreadful as favorites

Betting against the Oakland Raiders, especially in the rare times they’re favored, has been one of the best bets in the NFL over the last seven seasons.
Since 2006, the Raiders are 4-17-1 (19.0 percent) against the spread as favorites. That’s not good. Oakland has been favored on the road just once over the last seven seasons and just four times at home.

Orioles open road set against Yankees

The Baltimore Orioles will continue their road trip on Friday night as they open up a key three-game series against the division-rival New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium.

Overall the Orioles have won five games in a row against the Yankees for their supporters on the MLB betting odds, including a three-game sweep in Baltimore on June 28-30. The OVER/UNDER has gone 2-6-1 in nine Orioles vs. Yankees games this season.

Ivan Nova will take the mound for New York, and he'll carry a 1-2 record into the contest. Miguel Gonzalez gets the ball for Baltimore; he's 6-3 so far this season.

Cardinals face the Angels in Anaheim

The St. Louis Cardinals will have Adam Wainwright on the mound on Thursday night as they close out their three-game road interleague MLB betting series against the Los Angeles Angels.

The Angels, meanwhile, will counter with Joe Blanton, who will be looking to improve on his 2-10 mark.

BCS Title Odds: SEC vs. the Nation

The SEC has won the last seven BCS championships and is favored to do so again this season.

Six of the eight top favorites on the current odds to win the 2014 BCS Championship hail from the SEC. Two-time defending champion Alabama leads the pack as a commanding 3/1 favorite to win its third straight national championship. Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, Texas A&M, and LSU are also expected to contend.

12-0 Scherzer takes mound in Toronto

The Detroit Tigers are expected to have 12-0 Max Scherzer on the mound on Wednesday night at the Rogers Centre as they continue their MLB betting set against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Scherzer is 3-0 with a 1.59 ERA over his five career starts against the Blue Jays, and he ran his 2013 numbers to 12-0 with a 3.10 ERA last time out by giving up three runs on four hits over seven innings in a victory over the Tampa Bay Rays.

Josh Johnson will be on the mound for the Blue Jays; Johnson is 1-2 to date on the season.

Dwight Howard Odds in Free Agency

Dwight Howard seemingly is always making headlines so the fact that there are Dwight Howard free agency odds is not surprising.

The fact that the Los Angeles Lakers remain the second betting choice on where the center will sign is a bit of a surprise.

Given all the hype around the Houston Rockets and their manoeuvring to clear cap space, it makes sense that the Rockets would be a +140 favorite (and they are at Bovada).
