Union Rags Derby odds hold steady

Maybe this will be looked upon as the race where bettors got some great horse betting value on the Kentucky Derby.

Because after looking dominant and moving up to 4/1 Kentucky Derby odds at most racebooks, Union Rags ran third in the Florida Derby.

It broke his aura of invincibility and injected some betting value into the Derby futures list. But he remained the early favorite at 7/2 odds as racebooks respect his resume and realize he was pinned down in his Florida Derby loss.

Bud Black: First Manager Fired Odds

It’s nice to be at the top, but when that recognition stems from the fact people figure you will fail, it’s not quite as much fun.

Such is the quandary of San Diego Padres manager Bud Black, who tops the ‘Which MLB manager will be fired first in 2012’ odds at one online sportsbook.

Two years removed from NL Manager of the Year honors, Black is 3/1 at Bovada to be the first manager canned. The Padre roster is thin.
