NFL Week 10 Betting Trends Analysis

This past week was just the second time the Detroit Lions didn't lose. The Lions were helped immeasurably by being idle.

The Lions not only have the worst record in the NFL at 1-7, but they also have the worst point spread mark, too, at 1-7.

It wasn't an uneventful bye week, though, for the Lions. Team president Tom Lewand and general manager Martin Mayhew were fired.

Now the Lions resume play with a road game against Green Bay. Do you know the year the Lions last beat the Packers in Wisconsin? Take a Scott Mitchell bobble head prize if you correctly guessed 1991.

NBA Odds: Trail Blazers vs Spurs

Aldridge Duncan Spurs NBA

All eyes will be on LaMarcus Aldridge when he returns to Portland as a member of the Spurs to take on a Trail Blazers team that he was a part of since 2006. Aldridge will try to reverse a trend he helped contribute to as a member of the Blazers, as the Spurs are just 3-12 in their last 15 games in Portland.

The Spurs have started the season 5-2 SU and are holding teams to just 91.7 points per game. So far on the season Aldridge has seen a reduction in minutes, playing just 29:29 minutes per game compared to his career average on 35:23.

Portland is 4-4 SU in what’s viewed as somewhat of a transition year after the departure of their all-star big man. Damian Lillard is off to a strong start, averaging 27.5 points and 7.3 assists per game. He’s also put up 26.5 points per game in 11 career games vs the Spurs.

The Spurs have a recent history of playing well in November, as they’ve gone 11-1 SU in their last 12 November games, while going 6-1 ATS in their last seven road games in November.

Warriors Aiming for Nine Straight Wins

Steph Curry Warriors

The defending NBA champs haven’t missed a beat since winning it all last season, as the Warriors remain undefeated after eight games this season. Their perfect record will face a serious challenge Wednesday night when they play the Grizzlies in Memphis, a place where they’ve gone just 4-11 SU in their last 15 games.

The Grizzlies haven’t had a strong start to the season, going 3-5 SU and 1-4 SU within the Western Conference. They currently rank near the bottom of the league in point per games and are in the middle of the pack in point allowed per game.

Of particular interest to O/U bettors is that the total has gone UNDER in 12 of the Warriors’ last 17 games while playing on one day’s rest, while the total has gone UNDER in four of the Grizzlies last five when playing on one day’s rest.

The two teams last played in the Western Conference Semifinals last season, where Golden State won the series in six games, winning two of three games in Memphis.

NHL Odds & Pick: Penguins vs Canadiens

Crosby Penguins NHL

The Montreal Canadiens have established themselves as the class of the Eastern Conference in the early stages of the NHL season and will be seeking to continue their winning ways Wednesday when they travel to Pennsylvania for a date with the Pittsburgh Penguins. Trends are working in the Habs’ favor for this one, as the road team has taken five out of the last six meetings between the clubs.

The Pens saw their six-game winning streak come to an end at the hands of the Calgary Flames on Saturday and now sit at 9-5-0-0 on the season. Pittsburgh goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury has been rock solid between the pipes, going 7-5-0 with a 1.93 goals-against average and .933 save percentage to go along with two shutouts.

Montreal (13-2-1-0) has been no slouch in the goaltending department either. Rookie goaltender Mike Condon has done a phenomenal job filling in for the injured Carey Price, posting a 6-0-1 record with a sparkling 1.57 GAA and .940 save percentage in his first seven career starts.

NFL Week 10 Opening Odds Analysis

There is only one team in the NFL with the mystique, public backing and record to make the New York Giants a touchdown underdog at home. The New England Patriots are that team.

The Patriots have won 11 in a row going back to last season, compiling a 7-3-1 against the spread (ATS) mark. Bookmakers opened New England as a 7-point favorite on the road against the Giants.

Titans Have Been Awful at Home

Titans Football

The Carolina Panthers and Tennessee Titans head into their Week 10 matchup in Nashville riding a high. Carolina is coming off a big home win over the Green Bay Packers, while the Titans garnered a much needed 34-28 victory over the New Orleans Saints in Mike Mularkey’s debut as the team’s interim head coach.

The trends aren’t working in Tennessee’s favor in this one, however. The Titans have been unexplainably bad at home in recent appearances, dropping each of their last nine games at Nissan Stadium. Stringing together solid back to back performances has also been a monumental task for the squad. Tennessee is 0-10 SU and ATS in its last 10 games following an ATS win.

Carolina ranks as one of the three unbeaten teams in the NFL at 8-0 SU and has continued to prove their naysayers wrong this season. The Cats have been a strong play for their bettors as well, entering the matchup with the Titans with 6-2 ATS record.

NFL Betting: Lions are Ice-Cold ATS

Matthew Stafford Detroit Lions

The Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers are set to square off on the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field in Week 9 of the NFL slate with both sides mired in some tough times. It’s been a year to forget for the Lions, who are just 1-7 SU. Detroit has been an awful play this year when it comes to covering the spread, going just 1-7 ATS at the midway point of the season.

The Lions are 0-5 ATS in their last five games as underdogs against the Packers.

The Packers are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games at home.

The Lions are 1-8 ATS in their last nine games as underdogs in November.

Green Bay’s return to Wisconsin couldn’t come at a better time. The Pack are coming off consecutive losses to the Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers and have looked mediocre in just about every aspect of the game.

Green Bay’s defense has allowed 96 points over its last three games—a big reason a boiling point occurred on Sunday which saw multiple Packers defenders have a scuffle on the sidelines.

Week 10 Odds: Cowboys vs Buccaneers

Dez Bryant Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are two teams that have fallen upon some tough times as of late for different reasons. Injuries have plagued Dallas’ season to the point where there may be no coming back for the ‘Boys at 2-6 SU and ATS. Meanwhile, Tampa Bay has fared better at 3-5 SU and 4-4 ATS, but are experiencing some growing pains with rookie quarterback Jameis Winston under center.

The good news for Bucs bettors is their penchant for bouncing back at the betting window. Tampa Bay, who fell to the Giants 32-18 while failing to cover as 1.5-point underdogs in Week 8, is 7-1 ATS in its last eight games after an ATS loss.
