NFL Week 10 Opening Odds Analysis

There is only one team in the NFL with the mystique, public backing and record to make the New York Giants a touchdown underdog at home. The New England Patriots are that team.

The Patriots have won 11 in a row going back to last season, compiling a 7-3-1 against the spread (ATS) mark. Bookmakers opened New England as a 7-point favorite on the road against the Giants.

Titans Have Been Awful at Home

Titans Football

The Carolina Panthers and Tennessee Titans head into their Week 10 matchup in Nashville riding a high. Carolina is coming off a big home win over the Green Bay Packers, while the Titans garnered a much needed 34-28 victory over the New Orleans Saints in Mike Mularkey’s debut as the team’s interim head coach.

The trends aren’t working in Tennessee’s favor in this one, however. The Titans have been unexplainably bad at home in recent appearances, dropping each of their last nine games at Nissan Stadium. Stringing together solid back to back performances has also been a monumental task for the squad. Tennessee is 0-10 SU and ATS in its last 10 games following an ATS win.

Carolina ranks as one of the three unbeaten teams in the NFL at 8-0 SU and has continued to prove their naysayers wrong this season. The Cats have been a strong play for their bettors as well, entering the matchup with the Titans with 6-2 ATS record.

NFL Betting: Lions are Ice-Cold ATS

Matthew Stafford Detroit Lions

The Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers are set to square off on the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field in Week 9 of the NFL slate with both sides mired in some tough times. It’s been a year to forget for the Lions, who are just 1-7 SU. Detroit has been an awful play this year when it comes to covering the spread, going just 1-7 ATS at the midway point of the season.

<h5>Shark Bites</h5>

<ul class="content-list">
<li>The Lions are 0-5 ATS in their last five games as underdogs against the Packers.</li>
<li>The Packers are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games at home.</li>
<li>The Lions are 1-8 ATS in their last nine games as underdogs in November.</li>

Green Bay’s return to Wisconsin couldn’t come at a better time. The Pack are coming off consecutive losses to the Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers and have looked mediocre in just about every aspect of the game.

Green Bay’s defense has allowed 96 points over its last three games—a big reason a boiling point occurred on Sunday which saw multiple Packers defenders have a scuffle on the sidelines.

Week 10 Odds: Cowboys vs Buccaneers

Dez Bryant Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are two teams that have fallen upon some tough times as of late for different reasons. Injuries have plagued Dallas’ season to the point where there may be no coming back for the ‘Boys at 2-6 SU and ATS. Meanwhile, Tampa Bay has fared better at 3-5 SU and 4-4 ATS, but are experiencing some growing pains with rookie quarterback Jameis Winston under center.

The good news for Bucs bettors is their penchant for bouncing back at the betting window. Tampa Bay, who fell to the Giants 32-18 while failing to cover as 1.5-point underdogs in Week 8, is 7-1 ATS in its last eight games after an ATS loss.

Senators Have Been Road Warriors

Ottawa Senators Erik Karlsson

The Ottawa Senators have been a much better team on the road this season, with a 5-1-1 record when travelling compared to a lowly 2-3-2 at home. Luckily for the Sens, they visit the Nashville Predators Tuesday night.

The Senators have outscored their hosting opponents 22-15 in their seven road games this season with the team netting three or more goals five times. The Sens will turn to Craig Anderson, who has a 2.72 goals against average and a .917 save percentage, in net when they take to the ice in Nashville.

The Predators have lost their past two games at home after starting the season 4-0-0 at Bridgestone Arena. Pekka Rinne will likely get the start as backup goalie Carter Hutton is day-to-day with an injury. The Finish goaltender has a 1.97 GAA at home this season.

NBA Betting: Thunder vs Wizards Odds

Oklahoma City Thunder Russell Westbrook

A pair of teams that have failed to string together consistent efforts will try and right the ship Tuesday when the Oklahoma City Thunder tangle with the Washington Wizards at the Verizon Center. The Wizards, who haven’t played since suffering a 114-99 loss at the hands of the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday, have dropped three straight entering the tilt. The good news for Wiz backers is they have fared much better when rested, going 5-0 ATS in their last five games with two days off.

Shark Bites
  • The Thunder are 3-8 SU in their last 11 games on the road.
  • The total has gone OVER in 13 of the Wizards' last 17 games at home.
  • The Wizards are 7-2 SU in their last nine games after an ATS loss.

Home court advantage has been huge when the Wizards and Thunder have collided. The visiting team is 1-6 SU in the last seven meetings between the clubs.

If Washington is going to come away with a win in this game they’ll have to cut down on turnovers. Randy Whitman’s squad leads the NBA in turnovers (19.7) with standout point guard John Wall averaging five per game – the worst number on the team.

Devils Look To Maintain Winning Streak

The New Jersey Devils started the season with a less than stellar 0-3-1 record through their first four, but have since collected an 8-2 in their past 10 games. The Devils will look to continue their red-hot play when they host the St. Louis Blues Tuesday.

After backup goalie Keith Kinkaid started for the Devils Sunday, Corey Schneider is expected to get the start in nets. Schneider is tied for second in the NHL with seven wins while posting a better than league average in both goals against average and save percentage.

The Blues have won the past three meetings between the two teams, including the two games last season. Vladimir Tarasenko was the star of those games with two goals and an assist.

Cavs Seek Seventh Straight Win vs Jazz

Cleveland Cavaliers Kevin Love

It’s early, but the Cleveland Cavaliers are going streaking. The Cavs have won six straight and will attempt to make it seven in a row at home against the Utah Jazz Tuesday. The young Jazz are no pushover, however. Utah is 4-2 SU and ATS so far in the new NBA season and has particularly been strong on the defensive end as of late led by the twin towers of Rudy Gobert and Derrek Favors. Utah topped Memphis 89-79 on Saturday while holding the Grizzlies to 33 percent shooting from the field – the third time they have held a team below 80 points this season.

Shark Bites
  • Cavaliers are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 home games.
  • The UNDER is 4-0 in Jazz last 4 road games.
  • The home team is 5-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings.

Cleveland has won four of its last five meetings against the squads split their two meetings last season. Cleveland is 4-0 SU at home so far this year but have covered the spread just once during that span. On the flip side, Utah is 3-1 SU and ATS on the road.

Ravens Failing to Cover at Home

Joe Flacco Ravens

It’s been a lackluster season so far for both the Jacksonville Jaguars and Baltimore Ravens, but they’ll each try and right the ship Sunday when they collide in Maryland. Home field advantage has been nonexistent for backers of the Ravens, as Joe Flacco and company are an ugly 0-6 ATS in their last six home games.
Trend seekers will also be interested to know that the Ravens are 0-9-1 in their previous 10 games when tabbed as the favorites. Baltimore opened as 6.5-point home chalk for the tilt.

As bad as the Ravens have been as faves, the Jags aren’t exactly lighting the world on fire when it comes to winning straight up as underdogs. Gus Bradley’s squad is 0-13 SU in their last 13 games as underdogs. The good news is someone is going to win this game, but it won’t come anywhere close to being on the radar of NFL fans outside of their respective fan bases.
