Soccer Betting: New Year's Top Games

Bundesliga and Serie A are still on their winter breaks, but there is action this weekend in the Premier League and La Liga.

Liverpool is one point ahead of West Ham in the EPL and they visit them this Saturday. Manchester United is in a terrible winless spell and Chelsea has not won in their last two matches and is only three points clear of the relegation zone.

Tottenham is in top form and continues their rise up the EPL table and are at home to face an Everton squad that has lost two of their last three matches.

Iowa vs Stanford: Rose Bowl Odds

Iowa NCAA Football

The Iowa Hawkeyes were four points away from making the college football playoff, but instead will square off against the Stanford Cardinal in the Rose Bowl. Iowa has struggled to cover against Pac-12 opponents, with the Hawkeyes going just 2-6 ATS in their past eight games against the conference.

Iowa’s defense has been stellar this season as they have allowed just 18.5 points and 334 yards per game. Opponents have only allowed two of their opponents to score more than 20 points this season. Quarterback C.J. Beathard has been great at protecting the ball this season, only giving up one interception in the past six games, which allows the defense to put the offense in good positions.

Stanford comes into the game with one of the premier offensive weapons in the game. Christian McCaffery broke Barry Sanders 27-year old record for most all-purpose yards in a season, while the running back tallied nearly 1,100 more yards than anyone else in the nation. Stanford also has senior quarterback Kevin Hogan who has six touchdowns and no picks in the past three games.

Offense Galore In Recent OK State Games

Oklahoma State Football

Oklahoma State may have dropped their past two games but the Cowboys have been a boon for OVER bettors has they have gone over the closing total in their past six contests. OK State and the Ole Miss Rebels will clash in the famous Sugar Bowl on New Years Day.

The Cowboys were in perfect playoff position before they closed out their season with back-to-back losses to Baylor and Oklahoma while allowing a combined 103 points. Oklahoma State fit in well to the high flying Big 12 this season, with the team ranked seventh in the nation in passing yards and eighth in points per game. Cowboys’ quarterbacks have combined for 34 touchdowns and 10 interceptions on the season.

Ole Miss went a little under the radar this season with some high-profile losses, but the Rebels have been a great, well-rounded team. Ole Miss has an average scoring margin of +17.2 points so far this season. Quarterback Chad Kelly has a combined 13 touchdowns (seven passing, six rushing) and no turnovers in his past three games.

Notre Dame Failing To Win The Big One

Notre Dame Football Kizer NCAA

Notre Dame is one of the most storied programs in the history of college football, but the Fighting Irish have not won a big one in quite some time. Notre Dame has lost seven consecutive games in the month of January. The Irish will hope to end this streak when they take on Ohio State in the Fiesta Bowl.

It’s amazing to think about how far Notre Dame has come this season. This is a team that has lost their best six players to season-ending injuries, including starting quarterback Malik Zaire. Despite the setbacks, Notre Dame has been able to trot out one of the best offensive trios in the nation with quarterback DeShone Kizer, running back C.J. Prosise and receiver Will Fuller. There are more injury concerns around Prosise, as he missed two of the final three games of the season.

Ohio State has been one of the best in the nation, but have excelled in the classic ground and pound technique. The Buckeyes have only allowed 14 points per game this season while ranking 12th in rushing yards. Ezekiel Elliott has rushed for 100-plus yards in all but one game this season.

NHL Betting: Flames Owning the Kings

The Calgary Flames lost their first home game since October Tuesday, but look to get back on the horse when they host the Los Angeles Kings Thursday. The Flames have historically enjoyed facing the Kings as they have won five of the past six meetings between the two teams.

The Flames opened their season losing five of their first six games at the Saddledome, but have since gone 11-1 on home ice. Pint-sized Johnny Gaudreau has been near unstoppable for the Flames at home this season as the 22-year old has tallied 15 goals and 14 assists with a +18 rating in 18 games in Calgary.

The Kings have been one of the best road teams in the NHL this season with a 12-5-2 record away from the Staples Center. Tyler Toffoli has been one of the best young players in the NHL this season as the 23-year old leads the lead league in plus/minus and has seven points in the past four games.

NBA Odds: Warriors at Rockets

Houston Rockets James Harden

The Golden State Warriors realized what life is like without all-world point guard Stephen Curry Wednesday and it culminated in a 114-91 defeat at the hands of the Dallas Mavericks. The Dubs will have no time to rest as they continue their trek across the Lone Star State and invade the Toyota Center for a date with the Houston Rockets Thursday.

Shark Bites
  • The Warriors are 4-1 ATS in their last five games with no days off.
  • The total has gone UNDER in six of the Rockets' last eight games.
  • The Warriors are 10-1 SU in their last 11 games against the Rockets.

Curry, who is dealing with a lower leg bruise, could miss tonight’s game as well. That sets up the NBA’s second-best point producer James Harden (28.4 points per game) for a big night, as the Rockets have improved lately by winning four out of their last five games after suffering an ugly start to the season.

Golden State has historically dominated Houston, winning six straight in the series including a 112-93 triumph in the first clash of the season between the clubs on Oct. 30.

NCAAB Betting: Butler vs Providence

Ranked teams clash when the Butler Bulldogs host the Providence Friars Thursday. Hinkle Fieldhouse will be bouncing for one of the biggest games ever to be played on that court, but Butler will need to contend with some bad history to win this one. The favorites are 0-3 SU and ATS in the past three meetings between Butler and Providence.

Butler had high expectations entering the season with Kellen Dunham and Roosevelt Jones coming back for their final seasons. The seniors have not disappointed as Dunham leads the team in scoring (15.6 ppg) and Jones is averaging 13.8 points, 7.8 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game. Butler is currently on a eight-game winning streak with an average margin of victory of +18.5 points.

Providence had much more tempered expectations coming into the season, but has excelled at protecting the ball with a 1.62 assist-to-turnover ratio on the year.  Providence is led by reigning co-Big East player of the year Kris Dunn who is averaging 16.5 points, 7.3 assists, 6.1 rebounds and 3.2 steals per game this season.
