The Iowa Hawkeyes were four points away from making the college football playoff, but instead will square off against the Stanford Cardinal in the Rose Bowl. Iowa has struggled to cover against Pac-12 opponents, with the Hawkeyes going just 2-6 ATS in their past eight games against the conference.
Iowa’s defense has been stellar this season as they have allowed just 18.5 points and 334 yards per game. Opponents have only allowed two of their opponents to score more than 20 points this season. Quarterback C.J. Beathard has been great at protecting the ball this season, only giving up one interception in the past six games, which allows the defense to put the offense in good positions.
Stanford comes into the game with one of the premier offensive weapons in the game. Christian McCaffery broke Barry Sanders 27-year old record for most all-purpose yards in a season, while the running back tallied nearly 1,100 more yards than anyone else in the nation. Stanford also has senior quarterback Kevin Hogan who has six touchdowns and no picks in the past three games.
