CFL Betting Odds: Week 17

With just a few weeks left in the CFL regular season all playoff positions have been determined, but teams are still looking for home-field advantage and Week 17 CFL betting action should heat up with a pair of games on Friday.

The 9-6 Edmonton Eskimos will try to keep pace with the Lions in the West when they take on the 4-11 Toronto Argonauts in the opening CFL betting matchup on Friday. 5Dimes has Edmonton listed as a 3-point favorite, while the total is sitting at 48.

Palmer Era Starts in Oakland

Hated rivals clash again in Oakland as the Chiefs visit the Raiders with the Carson Palmer era beginning for Raider Nation.

The roadies have done very well lately, with Kansas City going 7-1 SU in its last eight trips to face their AFC West foes and going back to 1983 they are 15-4 ATS in 19 visits. But does that hold up in 2011 as the improving Raiders (4-1-1 ATS) host the struggling, injury-riddled Chiefs?

Titans Texans Trends Point OVER

The past five times the Tennessee Titans hosted the Houston Texans, the game went OVER the total.

With Andre Johnson still out and with the Texans struggling against Baltimore, is the OVER the best bet on the Week 7 NFL odds menu? Houston is 5-1 favoring the UNDER this season and they get a Tennessee team coming off its bye week.

Recently, Houston is just 1-8 SU in its last nine games on the road, while the Titans own a 7-3 ATS edge in 10 recent meetings.

Bears Underdogs vs Bucs in London

Would you like a spot of tea with your Chicago Bears vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers wager this week?

The NFL goes back to London for the fifth straight year and two teams coming off statement wins are making the trek to Wembley Stadium. The Bucs arrived Monday and will run practices during the week while the Bears arrive Friday.

Tampa Bay came up with a huge 26-20 win over the Saints last week, while the Bears crushed the Vikings. But Chicago encounters an unfavorable trend heading into their bye week - they are just 2-7 ATS in the past nine seasons before a bye week.

Miami to Continue Bronco Domination?

Miami remains one of three winless teams and comes home to face a beatable Denver Broncos squad who will embark on a Tim Tebow regime.

That regime could last a quarter, a game, or maybe a season or two, but the former Heisman winner returning to Florida will create a bit of a circus atmosphere. Miami just wants a win and did not play well in losing to the Jets on Monday night. [ Check out story on Tim Tebow prop bets this week ]

Betting line favors Lions over Falcons

Atlanta heads to Detroit in need of a victory and looking to dump a second straight loss on the Lions.

And if recent trends involving the Falcons before their bye week hold up, this will be an Atlanta cover. In the past 10 seasons, Atlanta is 8-2 ATS before their bye week and they opened getting 4.5 points on the road.

Detroit is 9-1-1 ATS in its last 11 games despite their Week 6 loss, while the Falcons are 7-3 ATS in their past 10 games vs Detroit.

Opening Lines: Lions favored vs. Falcons

With the Detroit Lions picking up their first loss of the season last week, the Green Bay Packers stand alone as the NFL’s last remaining undefeated team. The Packers head to Minnesota this week, while the Detroit Lions will try to bounce back at home against the Atlanta Falcons.

TopBet currently lists the Lions as a 3.5-point favorite over the Falcons. Detroit’s loss to San Francisco last week was the first time they’d lost ATS in 10 games, as they are now 9-1-1 ATS in their last 11. Atlanta is 2-5 ATS in their last seven games.

Stanford 20 Point Chalk vs Huskies

The Stanford Cardinal are a perfect 6-0 both SU and ATS, and will look to stay that way this week at home against the Washington Huskies.

Washington is also off to a strong start at 5-1 SU and ATS, but are just 1-5 SU and 1-4-1 ATS in their last six games against Stanford.

Andrew Luck kept his Heisman campaign rolling with a 336-yard, four touchdown game against Washington State last week.

Sun Belt NCAA football betting

Two Sun Belt conference rivals are on display Tuesday night when the Florida International Golden Panthers visit the Arkansas State Red Wolves.

Both teams are off to 4-2 SU starts, but Arkansas State is 5-1 ATS to FIU’s 3-3. Arkansas State’s junior quarterback Ryan Aplin passed for 261 yards and rushed for 35 in a win over Louisiana-Monroe.

FIU has won five straight on the road and sit as 3-point underdogs here and they are averaging 305.5 YPG in home rushing so far this season. The home team has won five of six meetings.

NASCAR Betting: Good Sam Club 500

The Chase for the Sprint Cup is half over, but the NASCAR betting board still doesn't have a runaway championship favorite as the series heads to Talladega this weekend for the Good Sam Club 500.

Carl Edwards holds down first place in the Sprint Cup standings after five Chase races, but he leads Kevin Harvick by just five points and Matt Kenseth by only seven points on that list. Edwards is the 2/1 favorite at Bovada to win the Sprint Cup this season, with Harvick at 5/2 odds, and Kenseth at 4/1 odds.
