Bears Look to Cover Huge Betting Spread

The Baylor Bears will be gunning for their sixth straight SU and ATS victory over Southern Methodist when they visit the Mustangs on Friday as heavy double-digit favorites.

The Bears, at No. 4 on the AP Top 25, finished atop the Big 12 last season with an 8-1 SU conference record but were a bitter betting disappointment down the stretch, going 3-5 ATS in their last eight games.

The Spartans finished at 11-2 in 2014 and currently ride a five-game SU road winning streak. Michigan State was also a solid bet as a double-digit favorite in 2014, going 8-1 ATS when favored by 10.5 or more points.

Pats Odds Swing On Suspension News

The betting pendulum swung quickly at the sportsbooks on Thursday morning with news that Tom Brady’s Deflategate suspension had been overturned

While the Week 1 line of the New England Patriots game vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers remained off the board in the immediate aftermath, there was speculation the spread would swing from -2.5 to -7. The line opened in the summer at -6.5 before the Brady suspension was announced and it looks like the line is headed back to a touchdown.

Patriots Odds: Court Overturns Brady Ban

Tom Brady's four-game Deflategate suspension has been overturned by a U.S. District Court judge, so how will that affect the New England Patriots' odds for the season ahead?

Brady had been suspended by the league for four games for his supposed involvement with the deflating of footballs in last year's playoffs, putting Patriots backup Jimmy Garoppolo in line to start for the team for the first quarter of the season - beginning with their season opener against the Steelers on Thursday Night Football.

Royals 0-2 in Volquez Outings vs Tigers

The Kansas City Royals are 0-2 in Edinson Volquez's two starts against the Detroit Tigers this season, with both of those defeats coming at home as he takes the ball against them on his own turf once again on Thursday night.

Volquez is 12-7 with a 3.27 ERA on the season, but in his last start against Detroit on August 12 he gave up six runs on eight hits over seven innings in a loss. Matt Boyd (1-5, 7.12 ERA) is the probable pitcher for the Tigers.

Boilermakers Ride Skid into 2015 Opener

The Purdue Boilermakers will be looking to end a six-game SU losing streak in which they covered the spread just twice when they play on the road against the Marshall Thundering Herd on Sunday in their season opener.

It was yet another dismal season for the Boilermakers last year after they finished with a 1-11 record in 2013. Purdue showed promise with a 3-3 SU start in 2014 before beginning their losing slide, but were a respectable 6-5-1 ATS overall.
