NBA Odds and Pick: Boston vs Chicago

Avery Bradley Celtics

Two teams going in opposite directions as far as betting is concerned hit the hardwood tonight at the TD Garden when the Celtics welcome the Bulls to Beantown. The Celtics have put together a mini run over their past six games, going 5-1 ATS, while the Bulls have been struggling at the betting window, going 1-4 ATS in their last five games.

The Bulls have been a poor bet all season, going just 6-12 ATS and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games. They have, however, dominated in the Celtics in all aspects in recent years, going 8-2 SU and 7-2-1 ATS against them in their last 10 matchups.

Chicago beat Boston last time they played, but Celtics’ backers will be happy to learn that they’re a strong ATS bet after losing the previous game in a matchup, going 16-6 ATS in their last 22 games in that situation.

The UNDER, which opened at 200.5, is trending for both teams. The total has gone UNDER in three of the last four games for both teams when playing on one day’s rest. The teams’ combined O/U record for the season is 14-25.

Eastern Kentucky vs Kentucky Odds

The Kentucky Wildcats saw their season-opening seven-game winning streak come to an end last Thursday at the hands of the UCLA Bruins but will be attempting to get back to their winning ways Wednesday evening at home against state counterpart Eastern Kentucky. The Wildcats are 11-0 SU all-time against Eastern Kentucky, including an 82-49 pummelling in Lexington last season.

Shark Bites
 • Eastern Kentucky is 0-6 SU in its last six games against Kentucky.
 • The total has gone UNDER in six of Kentucky's last eight games in December.
 • Eastern Kentucky is 10-3 ATS in its last 13 games as road underdogs.

Despite its sparkling 5-0 home record, the ‘Cats have been anything but a safe bet at Rupp Arena this year. John Calipari’s squad is just 1-4 ATS in front of their hometown fans.

The Colonels are no slouch, however. Eastern Kentucky has won six of its last seven games and rank sixth nationally in scoring (90.4 points per game).

Canadiens Dominating Rival Bruins

One of the oldest rivalries in hockey gets renewed Wednesday night when the Montreal Canadiens host the Boston Bruins, but the series has been pretty one-sided in recent memory. The Habs have won the past eight games against the Bruins, with the Canadiens outscoring their rivals 31-11.

The Canadiens are leading the Eastern Conference, but the Washington Capitals are quickly gaining ground with the Habs stumbling lately. There is still lineup shuffling happening with the Habs, but they seem to have settled on youngster Alex Galchenyuk centering the top line with Max Pacioretty and Sven Andrighetto.

The Bruins have been better away from Beantown this season, with a 9-2-2 record on the road while outscoring their opponents by more than a goal per game. Boston sits fourth in the Atlantic Division with the Ottawa Senators, Detroit Red Wings and the Canadiens ahead of them.

NFL Week 14 Opening Odds Analysis

Oddsmakers think highly of Ben Roethlisberger. They opened Cincinnati as a three-point home favorite against Pittsburgh. Figuring home field advantage is worth three points, the oddsmakers consider the Steelers and Bengals even.

Only the 12-0 Carolina Panthers have a better record than Cincinnati. The Bengals are 10-2 and own the best point spread mark at 10-1-1.

Thunder are Ice-Cold Against the Spread

Oklahoma City Thunder Russell Westbrook

After a brief stumble out of the gate to start the season, the Memphis Grizzlies are looking like the Memphis Grizzlies again. The Grizz, winners of nine of their last 12, will have their hands full at home Tuesday against a talented Oklahoma City Thunder squad. The two sides recently met on Nov. 16 when Memphis erupted in the fourth quarter for 43 points en route to claiming a 122-114 win.

Shark Bites
 • The total has gone UNDER in the Thunder's last six games.
 • The Thunder are 1-4 SU in their last five games against the Grizzlies.
 • The total has gone UNDER in 21 of the Grizzlies' last 30 games at home.

Despite their respectable 12-8 straight up record, the Thunder have been an atrocious bet as of late. Kevin Durant and company have covered the closing spread just twice in their last 11 outings.

Home court advantage has been huge in this series, as visiting teams are 0-6 ATS in the last six meetings between the clubs. The Thunder are also a paltry 1-5-1 ATS in their last seven at FedExForum.

Connecticut Cruising vs the Big Ten

Rosney Purvis UConn

Madison Square Garden will be the stage for college hoops actions tonight when the unranked Connecticut Huskies take on the #6 ranked Maryalnd Terrapins. The Huskies have now won eight straight vs the Big Ten Conference, but will be in tough vs the 7-1 SU Terrapins.

Neither team has been a solid bet this season, with the Huskies posting a 2-1-1 ATS record and the Terps going 3-4-1 ATS.

Tonight’s total opened at 141, and the OVER is trending for both teams. Maryland has gone over in five straight games, while UConn has gone OVER in eight of their last 10 games as underdogs. The teams have a combined O/U record of 9-3.

The teams have players three times since 2001, with the Terps posting a perfect 3-0 ATS record in those games.

NCAAB Betting: West Virginia vs Virginia

West Virginia has been on cruise control to start the college basketball season but will face its toughest test Tuesday when they take on state rival Virginia in the Jimmy V Classic at the renowned Madison Square Garden. The 14th-ranked West Virginia is used to playing a much more up-tempo game, while the 10th-ranked Cavaliers are a defense-first team, ranking sixth in the nation in scoring defense (57.5 points per game).

Shark Bites
 • Virginia is 5-0 SU in its last five games at home.
 • The total has gone UNDER in West Virginia's last four games on the road.
 • West Virginia is 3-7 ATS in its last 10 games against the Atlantic Coast.

Despite their proximity, the two schools have not met since 1985 when Virginia eked out a 56-55 victory. Containing the Cavaliers’ offense will be key for West Virginia, as the Mountaineers are 27-0 over the last few seasons when holding opponents to 69 points or fewer.

Big 12 competition hasn’t been kind to Virginia as of late. The Cavaliers are 1-3 SU and ATS in their last four games against the Big 12.

OVER Trending for Browns at Home

Manziel Browns

Neither team will make the playoffs this year, but the San Francisco 49ers and Cleveland Browns will be looking for moral victories Sunday when they tangle at FirstEnery Stadium. The Browns are 0-13 SU in their last 13 December games—a trend that won’t inspire much confidence in Cleveland bettors.

Shark Bites

The Browns are 0-6 ATS in their last six games.

The 49ers are 4-12 ATS in their last 16 games on the road in December.

The total has gone OVER in five of the 49ers' last six games on the road.

The Browns (2-10 SU) have been one of the worst bets in the league this season (4-8 ATS) but they have been cashing for OVER bettors when playing at home. The OVER has gone 5-1 in the Browns’ last six games in front of their hometown fans.

Led by Blaine Gabbert, the Niners escaped Chicago with a 26-20 overtime victory in Week 13 to improve to 4-8 SU on the season. San Fran has been a surprisingly good bet lately, covering the closing spread in three of their last four games ahead of the game.
