MLB Betting: Angels battle Rangers

Josh Hamilton and the Los Angeles Angels will begin a road series in Arlington on Friday afternoon against the outfielder's old team, the Texas Rangers, in MLB betting action.

The Angels and Rangers split their last 10 meetings last season with five victories apiece, with each of their last three matchups turning into OVER results on the MLB odds at the sportsbooks. Los Angeles won two of those three contests for their supporters.

Texas hands the ball to starter Derek Holland in this one and he'll try to improve on his 0-0 mark on the year. Los Angeles counters with Jason Vargas, who will try to quiet the fans and the Rangers bats at the same time.

George Mason vs. Santa Clara CBI Odds

After winning and covering a small spread on Wednesday night the George Mason Patriots will look to close out the championship series of the CBI Tournament against the Santa Clara Broncos on Friday night.

George Mason tied up the best-of-three series at one win apiece with a 73-66 victory at home on Wednesday night as a 1-point favorite at the sportsbooks. Santa Clara took the opener of the series by a score of 81-73 back on Monday night on their court.

George Mason will face the 24-11 Broncos, who own a 14-16 ATS mark on the season. In totals betting, the Patriots are 20-12 favoring the UNDER so far this season while the Broncos are 14-13 favoring the OVER.

Final Four Trends: Odds Favor Chalk

Louisville is favored to win the national championship and almost every Final Four trend points to the Cardinals winning the title next Monday.

By the time the March Madness bracket is whittled down to four teams, the upsets come to a screeching halt. In eight Final Fours since 2005, higher seeds are 12-1 SU over lower seeds. (Three games featured games between same-seeded teams).

And by the time you reach the national championship game, the higher seeds are 7-2 SU (with three additional games featuring No. 1 vs No. 1 same seeds) since 2001.

Wings vs. Avalanche NHL odds action

The Detroit Red Wings are 2-0 so far this season against the Colorado Avalanche as those two teams hit the ice at the Pepsi Center in NHL betting action at the sportsbooks on Friday night.

Detroit and Colorado met on Monday night as well, with the Red Wings winning 3-2 as a -160 home favorite on the NHL odds in that UNDER result. Overall the Red Wings are 6-4 over their 10 most recent games against the Avs, with the OVER/UNDER 6-4 as well.

The Red Wings will try to spoil to the party on Friday; they are 18-14-5 this season, while the Avalanche are 12-20-4. Detroit is 16-17-4 on the totals; Colorado is 14-18-4.

NBA Betting: Thunder host Spurs

Having knocked around the Oklahoma City Thunder the last time they met, the San Antonio Spurs will be looking to do it again on Thursday night as those teams meet in NBA betting action.

The Spurs beat the Thunder 105-93 as a 2.5-point home favorite in their March 11 matchup, in the third straight UNDER result between the teams. Overall, though, San Antonio is just 5-5 SU and 3-6-1 ATS over its last 10 games against the Thunder.

Yankees vs. Red Sox: MLB Odds

Ryan Dempster will be making his first regular-season start for the Boston Red Sox on Thursday night as they close out their MLB betting series on the road against the New York Yankees.

Dempster faced the Yankees once last season, getting knocked around for eight earned runs over six innings of work as a member of the Texas Rangers. Overall Dempster's teams are 0-4 in his career outings against the Yankees, with the OVER/UNDER at 2-2.

For the Yankees, Andy Pettitte gets the ball, charged with keeping the Red Sox hitters off the base paths. He'll face Ryan Dempster, 0-0 on the year.

NIT Championship Betting Preview

The Baylor Bears will take on the Iowa Hawkeyes at Madison Square Garden on Thursday night in the championship game of the NIT on the college basketball betting lines at the sportsbooks.

Baylor knocked off BYU in the semifinals of the NIT on Tuesday night, winning 76-70 as a 3-point favorite on the betting lines in the contest. Iowa is coming off a 71-60 win over Maryland as a 3-point favorite in their semifinal matchup on Tuesday night.

The Bears bring a 22-14 record (16-15 ATS) to this tilt against the 25-12 Hawkeyes, who are 24-9 ATS. OVER/UNDER bettors have witnessed Baylor go 16-13-1 so far and the Hawkeyes go 13-19-1.

NHL Odds: Blackhawks face Blues

The Chicago Blackhawks are riding a four-game winning streak against the St. Louis Blues as those Central Division clubs meet once again in NHL betting action at the sportsbooks on Thursday.

Overall the Blackhawks are 8-2 over their past 10 games against the Blues, including a 3-0 shutout win for their supporters on the NHL odds when the teams last met on February 28. The UNDER has paid out for bettors in each of their last two matchups.

The Blackhawks bring a 27-5-3 record to the battle against the 18-14-2 Blues. OVER/UNDER bettors have seen Chicago go 14-19-2 so far and the Blues go 18-12-4.

MLB Betting: Phillies face the Braves

Roy Halladay gets the ball for the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday night as they continue their MLB betting series on the road against the division-rival Atlanta Braves.

The Phillies fell 7-5 to the Braves in their season opener on Monday before getting Tuesday off, giving them four losses in their past five games against Atlanta. As well, Philadelphia went just 1-3 in Halladay's outings against the Braves last season.

The match puts starter Roy Halladay for the Phillies on the hill facing Paul Maholm for the Braves. Halladay brings a 0-0 mark to the game, while Maholm is 0-0 to date on the season.

Knicks battle Hawks on NBA odds

The New York Knicks are 5-1 SU over their past six games against the Atlanta Hawks, but they've managed to cover the posted spread in just one of their last three meetings heading into Wednesday.

The Knicks last faced the Hawks on January 27, winning 106-104 at home in that contest but failing to cover the 5.5-point spread on the NBA betting lines at the sportsbooks. Each of the last three Knicks vs. Hawks matchups have turned out to be OVER results.
