NFL Prop Bet: Super Bowl MVP Odds

The New England Patriots and Atlanta Falcons have proven to be head and shoulders above the rest of the competition in the 2016 NFL playoffs, and they have a date on February 5 in Houston, Texas for Super Bowl LI as a result. When it comes to betting on the Most Valuable Player of the big game, a familiar face is topping odds lists.

UFC on Fox 18 Betting Odds Preview

The light heavyweight title picture looks to get slightly less muddy when Anthony Johnson and Ryan Bader clash at the Prudential Center at UFC on Fox 18. Johnson vs Bader is as close as the division can come to presenting a title eliminator with Jon Jones still yet to make his return from his suspension following a hit-and-run incident. The co-main event will see top 10 heavyweights Josh Barnett and Ben Rothwell clash with the hopes that either fighter is just two wins away from a potential title shot.

Raptors Bid to Keep Winning Streak Alive

Kyle Lowry Toronto Raptors NBA

The Toronto Raptors are the hottest team in the standings as well as one of the hottest at the betting window and will look to extend their franchise record winning streak to 11 games when they host the Detroit Pistons at the Air Canada Centre Saturday evening.

Shark Bites
  • The road team is 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings.
  • OVER is 5-0 in the previous five meetings.
  • The Raptors are 1-5 ATS in their last six games versus the Central Division.

The Raptors, currently an 8-point home favorite at online shop Bovada, have gone 8-2 ATS during their sizzling 10-game SU winning streak. Season to date, the Raptors have put together a 26-19-1 ATS mark; still a few games behind the Spurs’ blistering 31-15 ATS pace, but one of the top teams at the betting window nonetheless.

The Raps’ last six wins have come on their home floor, where they have won five of those six by double digits and have an average margin of victory of 13.8 points during their recent stay at home.

In come the Pistons, who currently sit seventh in the Eastern Conference, but have been just average since thumping the Golden State Warriors 113-95 back on January 16. In their seven games since, the Pistons have gone 3-4 both SU and ATS and lost 114-106 to the Cleveland Cavaliers their last time out Friday evening.

Saturday’s meeting will be the first between the Eastern Conference foes this season. They split four games last season with Detroit getting the edge at the betting window with a 3-1 ATS mark.

NBA’s Best Bet Spurs Visit Cavs Saturday

Kawhi Leonard LeBron James Spurs Cavs NBA

The San Antonio Spurs bounced back from a humiliating loss to the Golden State Warriors with their highest offensive output of the season in their last game and will look to build momentum off that when they visit the Cleveland Cavaliers Saturday evening.

Shark Bites
  • The Spurs are 6-2 ATS in their last eight games versus the Eastern Conference.
  • UNDER is 5-1 in the Spurs’ last six games playing on two days rest in between games..
  • The Spurs are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings in Cleveland.

The Spurs lost their highly-anticipated clash with the Golden State Warriors 120-90 on January 25 and proceeded to take their frustrations out on the Houston Rockets, posting a 130-99 win just two days later.

San Antonio, currently a 2.5-point road fave at online book Bovada, is the NBA’s best wager this season, posting a record of 31-15 ATS mark in their 46 games thus far. Plus, while the world talks about the wild success of the Western Conference-leading Warriors, and deservedly so, the Spurs head into Saturday’s slate of games just three games behind Steph and Co.

Meanwhile, the Cavs have just a 2.5-game cushion ahead of the rapidly-charging Toronto Raptors in the Eastern Conference and have won three straight and five of their last six heading into Saturday’s game.

Cleveland is coming off a 114-106 win as 4-point road favorites at the Detroit Pistons Friday night.

The Spurs triumphed 99-95 in the first meeting back on January 14, but it was Cleveland who came out on top at the sportsbook, covering as a 6-point road pup.

Jayhawks Struggling Both SU and ATS

Kansas Jayhawks NCAAB

Two titans of the college game – and two teams trending in opposite directions - meet up at Allen Fieldhouse when the Kansas Jayhawks entertain the Kentucky Wildcats in Lawrence Saturday evening.

Shark Bites
  • Kentucky is 2-7 ATS in its last nine non-conference games.
  • Kansas is 2-6 ATS in its last eight games versus teams from the SEC.
  • UNDER is 5-1 in the Jayhawks’ last six games overall.

The No. 4 Jayhawks just can’t seem to find any consistency in recent weeks and will look to rebound from an 85-72 loss at the Iowa State Cyclones their last time out. Kansas has gone just 2-3 SU in its last five games and has failed to cover the spread in each of those contests.

Jayhawks bettors enjoyed some incredible success early on this season as their team went 9-2 ATS in their first 11 lined games. Recent SU and ATS losses at West Virginia, Oklahoma State and Iowa State have backers longing for those glory days, however.

Kentucky, the No. 20 seed, has also battled with consistency issues this season, but has posted three-consecutive wins both SU and ATS heading into this contest. A win for the Wildcats keeps them around the top spot of the SEC standings, hanging around Texas A&M, and with LSU in tough against Oklahoma, could give them a cushion from the teams chasing them.

Superstars on Display as OU visits LSU

Buddy Hield Ben Simmons Oklahoma LSU NCAAB

Two of the nation’s most high-profile superstars square off in Baton Rouge as Buddy Hield and the No. 1 Oklahoma Sooners visit Ben Simmons and the LSU Tigers in an anticipated matchup Saturday afternoon.

Shark Bites
  • Oklahoma is 6-0 ATS in its last six games versus the SEC.
  • LSU is 1-6 in its last seven games versus the Big 12.
  • UNDER is 5-2 in LSU’s last seven games overall.

At online book BetOnline, the Tigers are tabbed as 5-point underdogs for Saturday's showcase. Simmons’ talent has been well documented as the freshman is averaging 19.8 points, 12.7 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game so far this season, but those gaudy numbers have not translated to winnings for LSU backers. The Tigers have lost six-straight games ATS (4-2 SU) and have gone just 5-12 ATS in 17 games that have offered spreads this season.

The Sooners enter Saturday’s contest on a modest ATS win streak but a win streak nonetheless. Hield and Co. snapped a four-game ATS skid (and seven ATS losses in eight), covering the spread in back-to-back games heading into Louisiana. Oklahoma has just two SU losses to date (at Kansas, at Iowa State) and will look to keep their spot at the top of the rankings with a win Saturday.

While Hield vs Simmons will be all the rage on Saturday’s college basketball schedule, from a betting perspective, it comes down to Oklahoma keeping its streak alive or LSU finally putting an end to its drought.

Virginia Visits Louisville in ACC Action

Damion Lee Louisville Cardinals NCAAB

The Louisville Cardinals attempt to win their fifth-straight game when they host the Virginia Cavaliers in an Atlantic Coast Conference battle from the KFC Yum! Center Saturday afternoon.

Shark Bites
  • Virginia is 1-4 ATS in its last five games following an ATS loss in its previous effort.
  • UNDER is 18-8-2 in Louisville’s last 28 home games.
  • Virginia is 0-5 ATS in its last five road games.

The Cardinals, currently 6-point home faves at online shop BetOnline, sit second in the ACC standings with a 6-1 record (17-3 overall) but have been a rather poor option at the betting window of late. Louisville has gone 11-2 SU in their last 13 games overall, but have gone just 5-8 ATS in that span. In their seven conference contests, the Cardinals have covered the spread just twice (vs Pittsburgh, vs Florida State).

Virginia is in the middle of the pack in the Atlantic Coast, bringing a 5-3 conference record (16-4 overall) into Saturday’s game. They haven’t been a much better option for bettors either, going just 2-6 ATS in conference play. The schools split two meetings last season with each winning on their home floor. Louisville prevailed 59-57 at home as 2.5-point dogs on March 7. In fact, Louisville covered the spread in both contests last season, cashing in as a 7-point underdog in a 52-47 loss at Virginia on February 7.

As poor as these two teams have been for bettors recently, something has to give Saturday afternoon. If Louisville hopes to keep pace with the North Carolina Tar Heels, who reside at the top of the conference, these conference games down the stretch are of the utmost importance.

Nover: Green Bay Will Win Super Boxl LI

Now that we already know who is going to win Super Bowl 50 - judging at least by all the early steam on the Carolina Panthers - who is going to win Super Bowl LI next season?

The Green Bay Packers. I've seen them at odds of 12/1. Before rolling your eyes, consider that the Packers were co-favorites with New England to win this season's Super Bowl.

Kent State Has Owned Ohio in MACtion

The Kent State Golden Flashes will look to extend their lead in the MAC when they visit the Ohio Bobcats Friday. Kent State has been winning on the court and at the betting window when they face Ohio as the Golden Flashes are 4-0 SU and ATS in the past four against the Bobcats. These two teams met earlier this month in a game Kent State won 89-82, which saw the guard duo of Kellon Thomas and Xavier Pollard combine for 43 points.

Kent State has won five consecutive games with their defense holding opponents to 67 points per game, but Ohio was the only team to score more than 70 points in that span. Jimmy Hall has proven to be a difficult player to handle during the winning streak as the junior has averaged 17.2 points and 8.6 rebounds with two double-doubles in that span.

Ohio limps into this second meeting against Kent State with the Bobcats going 3-3 in the past six games that included losing a 20-point led in their last outing, which they ultimately won by just two points. Antonio Campbell had one of his best games of the season when these teams met a couple weeks ago when he tallied 21 points and nine rebounds.

VCU Not Disappointing As Favorites

The VCU Rams have the slightest of leads in the Atlantic-10, but will get a chance to pad that lead when they visit the middling Davidson Wildcats Friday. VCU comes into the game as a slight favorite, but the Rams have been money when giving up points as they are 9-1 ATS in their past 10 as faves.

The Rams enter Friday on one hell of a run as they have won 10-straight games with an average scoring margin of +17.3 points per game. Melvin Johnson has been making the most of his senior year as the guard has scored double-digits in all but one game this season while playing over 30 minutes per contest.

Davidson has alternated wins and losses in each of their past five contests with their less-than-stellar defense allowing nearly 80 points per game in that span. The Wildcats have simply needed to outscore teams this season, which they have been able to accomplish thanks to Jack Gibbs. The junior is averaging 24.8 points per game, which includes three 40-plus points performances.
