Visiting Team Struggling In Big 12 Battle

The Kansas Jayhawks and West Virginia Mountaineers clash Tuesday with the top spot in the Big 12 on the line. Despite Kansas being on a 13-game winning streak, their longest in three seasons, they come in behind the eight ball for bettors, as the road team is 1-5 ATS in the last six between these two teams.

Kansas continues to steamroll opponents thanks to their second-ranked offense in the nation. However, the Jayhawks are coming off their worst offensive performance of the season when they topped Texas Tech 69-59. In two games against West Virginia last season, Frank Mason III was the key piece to the Kansas offense as he averaged 18.5 points on 48 percent shooting.

If any team in the Big 12 can keep up with the Kansas offense it is West Virginia. The Mountaineers are sixth in the nation in scoring (86 ppg) and each of the starting five is averaging more than 9.5 points per game. During West Virginia’s current seven-game winning streak they are winning by an average of 19.8 points per game.

Blackhawks Bid for Eighth-Straight Win

Kane Blackhawks

The Chicago Blackhawks will look to bolster their win total and reward fans moneyline betting when the Nashville Predators invade United Center on Tuesday.

The Chicago Blackhawks will look to continue their hot play as they bid for their eighth-consecutive victory when they host the Nashville Predators Tuesday evening. The seven game win streak has the Blackhawks just four points behind the Dallas Stars in both the Central Division and Western Conference standings.

Patrick Kane, the NHL’s leading scorer with 62 points (25 goals, 37 assists), is a threat to record a big stat line no matter the Hawks matchup with, but the sniper has especially enjoyed seeing the Predators at the other end of the ice. In his eight-year career, Kane has tallied more goals versus the Preds (19) than any other team in the league. In two contests versus Nashville this season, the winger has registered a pair of goals.

Furthermore, Chicago has not been a friendly city to the Preds in recent meetings. The Predators have lost each of their last six visits to the United Center, including a 4-1 defeat back on Dec. 8.

Though nothing is official, it’s likely that we could see Pekka Rinne and Corey Crawford start between the pipes for the Preds and Blackhawks respectively. The Predators have not played a game since losing to the Arizona Coyotes 4-0 Saturday and the Blackhawks head in off a 6-3 win over the Colorado Avalanche Sunday. The Chicago Blackhawks are 27-13-4 so far on the season. The Nashville Predators, meanwhile, are 19-16-7. OVER/UNDER betting fans have seen Chicago go 15-21-8 and the Predators go 16-18-8 on the totals.

Knicks a Red-Hot Bet as Home Faves

Kristaps Porzingis Marcus Smart

Would the real Boston Celtics please stand up? The Celtics looked like they were a serious contender in the Eastern Conference in the early stages of the NBA season but have since unravelled, dropping five of their previous six games. Brad Stevens’ club travel to the Big Apple Tuesday for a date with super rookie Kristaps Porzingis and the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden.

Shark Bites
  • The Celtics are 4-0 SU and 3-1 ATS in their last four games against the Knicks.
  • The Knicks are 9-3 SU and ATS in their last 12 games when favored by 2.5 or less.
  • The Celtics are 13-3 SU in their last 16 games against their division.

The Celtics blew a 21-point second half lead in a 101-98 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday and appear to be completely out of sorts on both ends of the floor. New York is on the other side of the fence, as the Knickerbockers have won four of five heading into the tilt while pushing the San Antonio Spurs to the brink before coming up just short in a valiant effort in Texas.

The Knicks, who opened as 2-point home chalk, have been a fantastic play in that role. Carmelo Anthony’s squad are a blistering 7-1 ATS in their last eight when tabbed as home faves. MSG has also been a boon for OVER bettors as of late, evidenced by the OVER/UNDER going 7-1 in the Knicks’ last eight in front of the New York faithful.

NFL Divisional Playoffs Odds Analysis

Cincinnati linebacker Vontaze Burfict caused major uncertainty in regards to the opening line of the Pittsburgh-Denver Sunday NFL Divisional Round playoff game.

Ben Roethlisberger has a sore right shoulder and Antonio Brown was put in concussion protocol following questionable hits by Burfict during the Steelers' dramatic 18-16 win against the Bengals this past Saturday night.

Not every sportsbook had a line Monday morning on the Steelers-Broncos game. Those who did had Denver either minus 6.5 or seven without a total.

NCAAF Championship: Bama vs Clemson

The Clemson Tigers and Alabama Crimson Tide will meet in the College Football National Championship game at the University of Phoenix Stadium on January 11. Alabama offers a convenient heel for the game with the Nick Saban-led team dominating the college football landscape for years now. Clemson has spent the early years of the new millenium toiling in mediocrity until Dabo Swinney came on board and has made the team a national powerhouse. ‘Bama last won the national title in 2012 compared to Clemson who have not been the top team in the nation since 1981.

Despite a combined 27-1 record this season, Alabama and Clemson have been stay away bets all season with each team going 8-6 and 7-7 ATS respectively. After starting the season a lowly 3-5 ATS, Alabama has gone on to cover 5-1 in their last six. Clemson has covered in their last two with an average scoring margin of plus-14 points.

Alabama is coming off a complete joke of a semi-final game as they slapped Michigan State 38-0.  Though much has been made of Heisman winner Derrick Henry’s play this season, rightfully so as he has 25 rushing touchdowns this season, quarterback Jake Coker has saved his best play for the end of the season. The senior signal caller has completed 74.7 percent of his passes with eight touchdowns and no interceptions in the past four games.

Bama’s defense has been the same as always, one of the best in the nation. The Tide have only given up 14.4 points per game this season, third best in the nation, and have only twice allowed an opponent to score 20 or more points.

Clemson had a bit of a cakewalk themselves in their semi-finals as they bowled over Oklahoma 37-17. The Tigers remain undefeated this season and have a scoring differential of plus-18.3 through their 14 games so far.

Clemson’s offense goes through Deshaun Watson. The sophomore quarterback, and second runner-up in the Heisman vote, has thrown for 31 touchdowns while adding another 12 with his feet. Clemson’s offense uses a lot of options for Watson, which allows the quarterback to throw or tuck the ball as a designed runner.

It will likely be priority number one for the Clemson’s defense to stop Henry, but their front seven will need to generate pressure on Coker as well as the senior has proven he can be the focal point of the offense when needed. Clemson’s D ranked fourth in the nation with sacks and their front seven did a great job in the Orange Bowl game by harassing Oklahoma’s Baker Mayfield.

Warriors Trying to Stay Perfect at Home

The Miami Heat’s six game Western Conference road trip continues tonight against the Warriors at Oracle Arena. The Heat are coming off a 98-83 loss on Saturday night to the Jazz and will have a tall task tonight against the 17-0 at home Warriors.

The Warriors are perfect SU so far in 2016 and have gone 3-2 ATS. They have four straight double digit wins, and have scored in triple digits in six straight games. Tonight’s game opened with a 13.5 point spread in favor of the Warriors, who are no stranger to being heavy favorites. When faced with a spread of 13.5 or more this season, Golden State has gone 5-5 ATS, but are 3-1 ATS in their last four.

The Heat haven’t responded well to being underdogs on the road, going 3-7 ATS over their last 10 games in that situation. This will be the first time this season that they’re an underdog of over six points.

Dwyane Wade has a history of being a stat machine vs the Warriors. In 18 career games against them, Wade is averaging 27.7 points, 7.4 assists, 5.5 rebound and 2.1 steals.

Golden State easily took both games between the teams last season, winning by 17 and 15.

NHL: Can Anyone Stop The Panthers?

It has been 30 days since the Florida Panthers have lost a game, a stretch of wins that extended to 12 when they defeated the Edmonton Oilers Sunday night. The Panthers are getting it done on both ends of the ice as they have scored 3.3 goals per game while holding opponents to just 1.3 during their winning streak. The Panthers continue their six game road trip Monday night when they visit the Vancouver Canucks.

After getting the night off Sunday, Roberto Luongo will get the start in nets for the Panthers. In his past nine starts, Luo is 9-0 with a 1.33 goals against average and a .950 save percentage.

Luongo will be welcomed back to Vancouver after spending eight seasons with the Canucks. Jacob Markstrom will be making his eighth consecutive start for the Canucks after Ryan Miller injured his groin. During that seven-game span, Markstrom is 4-2-1 with a .927 save percentage.

BOS Look To Continue Dominance of NYR

The Boston Bruins head into Madison Square Garden slumping, but have historically fared well against the New York Rangers. The Bruins are 7-1 in their last eight against the Rangers, with Boston outscoring New York 27-15 in those games.

The Bruins have struggled offensively so far in 2016 with a 1-3 record while averaging just two goals per game in January. These two teams last met back in November with the Bruins scoring two goals in the final five minutes of the third period to win 4-3.

After starting the season as one of the best teams in the East, the Rangers have swiftly fallen back down to earth. New York has one just six of their last 20 games while allowing 3.6 goals per game.

NBA Odds: Wizards vs Bulls

Jimmy Butler Bulls

The Chicago Bulls look to begin another winning streak after they had a six-game run end in Atlanta on Saturday. The Bulls, who had covered the spread in five of those six straight up victories, lost 120-105 as 2.5-point dogs at the Hawks, and host the Washington Wizards Monday evening.

Despite dwelling in the basement of the NBA’s Southeast Division with a 16-19 record, the Wizards have been an above .500 team at the betting window, heading into Monday’s contest 19-16 ATS. Furthermore, the Wizards have gone 8-3 ATS in their last 11 contests overall and have performed exceptionally well versus the Bulls in their head-to-head contests, going 12-5 ATS in the past 17 meetings.

Jimmy Butler has really begun to assert himself as the leader of the Bulls since we flipped our calendar to 2016. The Marquette product is averaging 28.6 points and 6.6 assists per game in five January contests. Despite those gaudy January numbers, Butler has struggled against the Wizards in his career, registering just 7.7 points per game—his lowest against any opponent in the league.

Spurs are Huge Road Chalk vs Nets

It was a dark Sunday in Brooklyn for the floundering Nets, as the organization canned head coach Lionel Hollins and general manager Billy King thanks to an ugly 10-27 SU start to the 2015-16 NBA season. With the perennially dominant San Antonio Spurs in town Monday evening, Brooklyn have no time to collect their breath and begin life without Hollins.

Shark Bites
  • The Spurs are 12-3 ATS in their last 15 games
  • The Nets are 1-10 SU in their last 11 games with one day off
  • The Spurs are 1-8 OU in their last 9 games after an ATS loss

San Antonio (32-6 SU) has been dominant both on the floor and at the betting window this year. Gregg Popovich and company are a sizzling 26-12-0 ATS – good enough to make them the best bet in the Association. The Spurs, who opened as 14-point chalk for the affair, are also a great at covering big spreads. San Antonio is 10-5 ATS this season when closing as double-digit favorites.

San Antonio has the best average margin of victory in the NBA (13.9 points). Nets interim coach Tony Brown will not have an easy road ahead of him, as the squad is plagued by aging players, bad contracts and no first-round picks for the foreseeable future thanks to King’s mortgaging of the future in 2013 as a part of the Paul Pierce-Kevin Garnett deal. Good luck, Tony.
