NHL Betting: Coyotes, Canucks

Vancouver is the class of the NHL right now and they are big home favorites in Friday night hockey betting action against the Phoenix Coyotes.

The Canucks (-200 at Sportsbook.ag) have already clinched a postseason berth and host a Phoenix team that is still fighting to stay in a playoff position. The Coyotes could finish out of the playoffs altogether, and at +180 could be worth a gamble with the big road underdog potential.

Utah State vs. Kansas State Odds Preview

Kansas State could be a Final Four darling or out in the first round. Such is the inconsistency of their game and the wild card nature of their first round foe from Utah State.

The Aggies are a dangerous 12 seed and many have pegged this as one of the annual 5-vs-12 upsets. But KSU's speedy Jacob Pullen is the only game breaker in this match and he should be the difference in Kansas State covering the 2.5-point spread and advancing to the next round.

The 30-3 Aggies, winners of the WAC, will sample Cinderella's shoe to see if it fits.

Missouri vs. Cincinnati in West Odds Matchup

Cincinnati could be walking into a buzzsaw Thursday in the West Region when they face the high-pressure Missouri Tigers at Verizon Center.

This game has seen the biggest line move of any Madness game with bettors throwing money at the Bearcats (moving them from 3-point dogs to 1-point favorites). This is confusing since Mizzou seems to have an edge in many key areas, including size and defense.

The Bearcats are the 6-seed against the 11-seeded Tigers. Cincy chalked up a 25-8 record overall in NCAAB action, but critics say they played a weak non-conference schedule.  The Tigers are 23-10 and 11-14-1 ATS.

Gonzaga Small Faves vs St Johns

Gonzaga has always performed better as an underdog at tournament time and they get their wish as the No. 11 seed in the Southeast Region against St. Johns at Pepsi Center.

The No. 6 Red Storm are favored by 1.5 points, but without big game DJ Kennedy, they are susceptible to getting pushed around by the Zag's physical front court.

Gonzaga is just 1-6 ATS past 7 Madness games and they face a Red Storm team with a 21-11 mark in the tough Big East. The Bulldogs have are 24-9 and 15-11-1 ATS on the season.

Michigan State vs. UCLA odds

The UCLA Bruins and Michigan State Spartans each have a winning knack at tournament time, but it remains to be seen whether the green jerseys can prove lucky for MSU on St. Patrick's Day.

This matchup is a 7 vs 10 battle in the Southeast Region at St. Petes Times Forum and features two teams that have been Final Four regulars in the past decade.

Many like UCLA, with nearly 80 % of the action at some books favoring the Bruins, a 1.5-point underdog here. The Spartans have been money makers of late going 8-2 ATS past 10 Madness contests.

Wisconsin vs Belmont Odds Preview

Whenever a team hits the tournament as the nation's second-best three-point shooting team, an upset is possible.

That's what has Wisconsin fans and bettors worried as the Badgers face No. 13 Belmont Bruins, champions of the Atlantic Sun and making their fourth tourney appearance in seven years.

The Badgers are 23-8 on the season, and just one of two teams to defeat Ohio State. The Bruins, meanwhile, are 30-4 and anxious to bring their fast-paced, long-ball show to the show and to bracket games like Bovada Bracket Buster.

UConn vs Bucknell West Region Line Preview

Bucknell was a 14 seed in 2005 and pulled off a memorable upset of Kansas. This edition of the Bison won't be as memorable when they take on UConn.

Led by Player of the Year candidate Kemba Walker, the Huskies stomped through a tough Big East tournament field to win. They have a Bucknell team that won the Patriot League and produced a solid 25-8 record.

The Huskies are 26-9 record with a betting slate of 18-11 ATS. Bucknell is coming in hot, riding a 10-game win streak.

BYU Favored Over Wofford in Southeast

The BYU Cougars and their rock-star guard Jimmer Fredette open their march through March with a battle against the No. 14 Wofford Terriers.

This Southeast Region match features the No. 3 Cougars, coming off a loss to San Diego State in the MWC title game, against the Southern Conference champs from Wofford. It's the second straight tourney berth for them.

BYU is favored by 8 points at most sportsbooks, but a solid Wofford front court and a troubling trend of failing to cover spreads (BYU is 1-7-1 ATS past 9 tournament games) may have bettors rethinking their position. Most bracket games, such as the $5 million game at Bovada will still have BYU pencilled in, of course.

Florida Gators vs Santa Barbara Gauchos

Florida lost the SEC title game to Kentucky, but still managed a No. 2 seed in the Southeast Region, where they are heavily favored to dispatch the No. 15 Santa Barbara Gauchos today..

The Gators are favored by only 13 points, but reigning SEC Player of the Year Chandler Parsons is more than capable of turning this into a rout. Bettors should be careful of the Gators in this situation - as double-digit favorite, they 7-1 SU, but just 1-7 ATS past 8 outings.

The Gauchos, winners of the Big Sky Conference despite a medicore 8-8 mark in league play, are 18-13 on the year, while the Gators are at 26-7.

San Diego State vs Northern Colorado Odds

The San Diego State Aztecs have only lost twice all season and 15 seed Northern Colorado is unlikely to make it three on Thursday in West Region opening round action at McKale Center.

The Mountain West champion Aztecs opened as 17-point favorites, but the number was bet down to -15, where it sits at Sportsbook.ag at the moment. Why it was bet down, given the size and experience advantage is anybody's guess.

However the 32-2 Aztecs (19-11 ATS) have been to the tournament four times since 1985 and never won a game. Don't bet on that streak continuing against the Big Sky Conference champion Bears.
