Super Bowl Betting Handle: $98.9 million

It was the most-bet Super Bowl in history in Nevada, but the sportsbooks barely eked out a profit as the Baltimore Ravens upset the San Francisco 49ers 34-31.

Preliminary data from the Nevada Gaming Control Board shows a record $98.9 million in wagers on Super Bowl XLVII.

The amount bested the previous high of $94.5 million in 2006 when the Pittsburgh Steelers defeated the Seattle Seahawks.

“You put a team in nearby California in the Super Bowl and you will get plenty of cross-border shopping at Vegas sportsbook windows,” said Jack Randall, referring to the 49ers.

Rockets vs Heat: NBA wagering preview

After covering as a home underdog against the Miami Heat earlier in the season the Houston Rockets will get another shot at LeBron James and company down in South Florida on Wednesday night.

The Heat beat the Rockets 113-110 but didn't manage to cover the spread as 6-point road favorites in the last meeting between the two teams back on November 12. Miami is riding a 6-0 SU (4-2 ATS) winning streak against Houston dating back to January 2010.

Miami will face the 27-23 Rockets, who own a 26-23-1 ATS mark on the season. (Note: follow us on Twitter for line updates and injuries news). In totals betting, the Heat are 21-24 favoring the UNDER so far this season while the Rockets are 27-23 favoring the OVER.

Minnesota vs Michigan State Preview

Ravens win worst result for sportsbooks

It was another winning Super Bowl for the betting public and oddsmakers must have been wondering if there was a conspiracy afoot to help bettors win.

A Baltimore upset victory and an OVER bet was the worst possible scenario for many sportsbooks in Vegas and it was even worse for some online sportsbooks, such as Bovada.
