Nover: Falcons Not as Good as Record

Only four NFL teams have more victories than 6-3 Atlanta.

Are the Falcons really this good under first-year head coach Dan Quinn? That question was answered with a resounding no on the road against San Francisco last Sunday.

The Falcons were bet from seven-point favorites to as high as 9.5 against the 49ers. The marketplace was fully buying into fading the 49ers, who were starting Blaine Gabbert and without their three top running backs plus wide receiver Anquan Boldin and recently traded Vernon Davis.

Lions are Historically Awful in Green Bay

To say the Green Bay Packers have had the Detroit Lions’ number on the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field would be a massive understatement. The Lions, who are set to tangle with the Pack in Wisconsin on Sunday, have not won in Wisconsin in their last 24 attempts – a streak that stretches all the way back to 1991. Yes, the last time the Lions left Green Bay with a win Boyz II Men was just beginning to soar up the charts.

Week 11 Odds: Oklahoma vs Baylor

Baker Mayfield Sooners

The past 15 meetings between the Oklahoma Sooners and the Baylor Bears have seen the visiting team go 12-3 ATS. Oklahoma and Baylor meet at McLane Stadium this Saturday in a battle atop the Big 12 standings.

Ever since losing the Red River Showdown against the Texas Longhorns, the Oklahoma Sooners have been on fire. The Sooners are 4-0 SU and ATS since the loss and have averaged 58 points per game. Quarterback Baker Mayfield has been especially hot with the junior throwing 15 touchdowns with only one interception in the past four games.

Baylor seems to be more than fine with true freshman Jarrett Stidham at the helm after quarterback Seth Russell was ruled out for the rest of the season. Stidham threw for 419 yards and three touchdowns in his first career start last week.

Lions Favored to Have No.1 Pick in Draft

The Detroit Lions are firmly in last place in the NFL with an ugly 1-7 record through the first nine weeks of the season. The Lions schedule is also far from appealing, with two games against the Packers remaining, which has them currently listed as the +225 favorite to land the first overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft according to Bovada.

Arkansas Has Been a Hot Play vs LSU

Arkansas Football

The Arkansas Razorbacks have always shown their best when playing the top tier of the SEC and that is no different against LSU as Arkansas is 7-1 ATS in their past eight games against the Tigers. The Razorbacks will travel to Death Valley Saturday to take on LSU.

After a rocky start to the season, Arkansas has been getting hot as they carry a three game win streak into their game Saturday. The Razorbacks offense has been blowing up with the team averaging 56.7 points in their past three with senior quarterback Brandon Allen throwing 11 touchdowns and one interception in those games.

LSU’s playoff hopes took a big hit last week with a loss to Alabama. The vaunted ‘Bama defense was the first team this season to shutdown LSU running back Leonard Fournette with the Heisman favorite rushing for just 31 yards on 19 carries.

Memphis Struggles to Cover vs Houston

Memphis Quarterback Lynch

Memphis is coming off their first loss of the season and will need to buck some bad history if they are to rebound against Houston Saturday. The Tigers are 0-4 ATS in their past four games against the Cougars.

Memphis struggled against Navy’s run game last week as they allowed 374 rushing yards and 5.7 yards per rush en route to a 45-20 loss. Through their first seven games Memphis averaged 47.9 points per game while allowing 26.6. If Memphis wants at shot at winning the AAC they will need to beat Houston this week.

Houston remained undefeated this season with a narrow 33-30 win last week against Cincinnati. The Cougars are the lone undefeated team in the AAC with a 9-0 record on the season, but are tied with both Temple and Navy with a 5-0 conference record.

Utah Can't Beat Arizona SU or ATS

Utah Football Booker

Utah may be the quietest top 10 team of the season, but a win over Arizona would go a long way to prove some of the sceptics wrong as the Utes are 0-3 SU and ATS in their past three against the Wildcats. The two teams will renew acquaintances this Saturday when Arizona hosts Utah.

Utah continues to grind out wins with their hard-nosed defense and an opportunistic offense. The Utes offense ranks 79th in yards per game, but 39th in points per game, which has a lot to do with their defense giving them a short field to work with.

Arizona is on a three-game losing streak and have not picked up a win since October 18.  Quarterback Anu Soloman, who is looked at as the savior of the program, has been struggling as the sophomore has thrown all three of his interceptions this season in the past two games.

Kentucky Struggling to Cover The Spread

Kentucky Wildcats Jamal Murray

The Kentucky Wildcats opened their season with a win over Albany on Friday, but failed to cover once again which brings the team to a paltry 1-5 ATS in their past six games dating back to last seasons’ March Madness. Kentucky will look to fix that trend when they take on the upset-minded NJIT Highlanders Saturday.

Kentucky opened their season with a 78-65 win over the Great Danes Friday, but the Wildcats looked like a team with six freshmen on the roster. There were several unforced turnovers and the young bigs for Kentucky struggled to protect the rim. However, there is some solace for Kentucky fans as freshman Jamal Murray looks like the real deal after scoring 19 points and compiling eight assists Friday.

NJIT starts their first season in the Atlantic Sun conference against Kentucky, but will still rely on junior Damon Lynn who averaged 17.5 points per game last season.
