Line Moves: Alabama Bigger Favorites

Last week, as is often the case in college football, there were major line movements of over four points all over the board. But for whatever reason, this week’s biggest line movements are each only by a field goal or less. Here’s a look at the four games with the biggest line movements in Week 8.

Illinois @ Purdue (from -6.5 to -3.5 at 5Dimes)

Sabres, Bolts on NHL betting lines

The Buffalo Sabres are off to a terrific start and face off on Saturday night against the Tampa Bay Lightning, who after a deep run in last season’s playoffs have struggled out of the gate.

The Sabres are scoring at a much more rapid pace than their southern foes, but they will be likely road underdogs at 5Dimes in this NHL betting matchup.

Under predicted in Browns vs Seahawks

A pair of teams that rank near the bottom of key offensive and defensive stat categories battle in Cleveland as the rested Seahawks come to town as small underdogs.

Good luck finding any meaningful trends in the head-to-head history. They have only met three times, with a close low-scoring, a close high-scoring game and a blowout in the mix.

Interestingly, Seattle comes off a bye week where they have traditionally struggled (2-10 ATS past 12 years following a bye). But they hit their bye with momentum, shocking the Giants on the road back in Week 5.

NCAA odds: WVU favored at Syracuse

The West Virginia Mountaineers will try to keep their Big East title run intact Friday night when they head on the road to face the Syracuse Orange.

West Virginia is 8-2 SU and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games against Syracuse, but the Orange broke an eight-game losing streak last season with a 19-14 upset win at West Virginia.

In their last game against UConn, West Virginia’s Geno Smith passed for 450 yards and four touchdowns.

Rutgers now dogs at Louisville

Rutgers travels to Louisville on Friday, determined to not look past the lame Cardinals and hoping to boost its 5-1 mark in Big East football action.

The Scarlet Knights should win this game, so long as they are not more focused on next Saturday's Big East battle with West Virginia. Still, the betting public has turned this game from a small favorite for Rutgers into a small home chalk situation for Louisville.

World Series Odds: Rangers vs. Cards

The St. Louis Cardinals play host to the Texas Rangers on Thursday night in Game 2 of the World Series, a day after rallying for a 3-2 win.

Jaime Garcia will get the ball for St. Louis on Thursday, while Texas counters with Colby Lewis. The lefty Garcia could pose problems for Texas. During the regular season, Texas was 30 games over .500 overall, but just 26-21 vs LHP starters.

In Game 1 on Wednesday night the Cardinals took a 1-0 series lead with a 3-2 victory.

Wildcats battle Bruins in PAC 12 odds

The Arizona Wildcats will play their first game since head coach Mike Stoops was fired when they host the UCLA Bruins on Thursday night.

Arizona has won four straight games against UCLA and is 3-1 ATS over that stretch and they are favored by four points heading into this Pac 12 wagering event on Friday night.

Star quarterback Nick Foles threw for 378 yards in the losing effort at Oregon State earlier this month.

Injury Report: Palmer in for Raiders

No injury in the NFL caused more of a stir this week than the one to Oakland Raiders quarterback Jason Campbell. It wasn’t just the injury to Campbell that caused the commotion; it was who they went out and got to replace him.

NHL Betting: Caps vs. Flyers

It’s early in the NHL betting season and the road teams have been getting their share of wins. Washington is on a mission with five straight victories to open the season, and the roster overhaul in Philadelphia (4-0-1) looks to be providing immediate dividends.

Rangers Favored in World Series Props

Texas is favored in Game 1 and favored heavily to win the 2011 World Series but the most fun and profit potential exists not on the baseball moneyline but on World Series player prop bets.

The Rangers remain a -155 favorite to win the series, while Cardinal Albert Pujols remains the early 5/1 favorite to win the World Series MVP. CJ Wilson fires against Chris Carpenter in the opener.
