Expect Goals in Germany-Slovakia Match Sunday

Mario Gomez Germany Euro 2016

After winning Group C, Germany now faces a tough Slovakia team that is coming off a good performance in a 0-0 draw versus England to qualify as one of the top third-placed teams. Despite Euro 2016 fixtures averaging just around 1.9 goals scored per game and the UNDER cashing at a good clip, these two teams like to score when they meet and we could see goals Sunday in Lille.

Euro 2016 Faves France Face Ireland Sunday

Dimitri Payet France Euro 2016

France won Group A with seven points and the favorite to win Euro 2016 now faces Ireland as Round of 16 action continues Sunday in Lyon. It wasn’t exactly an easy seven points for the French as they yet to have that “dominant” showing on home soil but Ireland might be the team they need to find that sort of form.

Argentina Gets Chile in Rematch of 2015 Copa America Final

Lionel Messi Argentina Copa America

Two of the pre-tournament favorites clash at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford as Argentina and Chile play a rematch of last year’s final. The Chileans won their first Copa America after defeating Argentina on penalties on home soil last year.

5 Betting Numbers For Euro Round Of 16

Here are a few numbers you may want to be aware of heading into the Round of 16 of Euro 2016.

If you follow me on Twitter, you know I have retired from betting fixedball and feel obligated to say so but  I still watch with a bettor’s eye. Hope these numbers help:

Giants look like lock of the day against the Phillies

Madison Bumgarner Giants MLB

Opposites attract tonight in San Francisco in a game that’ll likely be easy money for bettors. For starters, the Phillies have lost 10 of their last 11 games, while the Giants have won 12 of their last 13. Then we have the pitching matchup of Jeremy Hellickson vs Madison Bumgarner.

The Phillies are 2-10 in their last 12 road games.

The Giants have won eight of their last nine games over the Phillies.

Phillies catcher Carlos Ruiz has a .353 average in 17 at-bats vs Bumgarner.

The Phillies have lost six straight Hellickson starts. He’s been equally as bad on the road as he has been at home, posting an ERA of 4.46 and allowing nine home runs in seven road starts. It’s been a rough go for Hellickson in June, as he’s gone 0-3 with a 6.38 ERA in four starts.

As for Bumgarner, The Giants have won 10 of his last 11 starts. The one they didn’t win was Monday where he allowed just one run in eight innings of work. He’s been incredible at home this season, putting up a 4-1 record and 1.79 ERA in eight starts in San Fran.

It’s no shock to see the Giants as massive -285 favorites, so this game might be a better option for a parlay ticket. The Giants are 17-3 in their last 20 games as home favorites.

Astros are finally getting back on track

After spending most of the season as baseball’s most disappointing team, the Houston Astros have gotten their act together with six straights wins, and a 9-2 record over their last 11 games. This includes a 13-4 smackdown of the Royals last night in KC. The teams will faceoff again today as they attempt to make up ground in their respective divisions.

Royals’ hitters have a combined .325 batting average vs Fiers in 40 at-bats.

George Springer has a .270 average and 13 home runs vs right-handers this season.

The Royals are 12-2 in their last 14 home games.

Houston will send Mike Fiers to the mound in hopes that he can secure a third straight win. It might be tough though, as he’s been atrocious on the road this season, posting a 1-1 record with a 6.19 ERA in five road starts. June, however, has been his best month of the season as he has a 2.63 ERA in 24 innings of work.

The Royals will counter with righty Chris Young, and they’ve won four of his last five starts. He’s been an incredibly different pitcher at home — 2.70 home ERA vs 9.70 ERA on the road, with five starts in each situation. In one road start against the Astros in April, he allowed six runs in 4.2 innings.

Cubs’ Lackey has Been Lights out in day Games

John Lackey Cubs

After ending a four game losing streak yesterday vs the Marlins, the Cubs will look to get a winning streak going, and they’re sending the right man to the mound to do so. In five day starts this season, John Lackey has been excellent, posting a 4-0 record and a 1.26 ERA. Overall this month, he’s pitching at an elite level, with a 1.75 ERA in four starts.

The Marlins will counter with right hander Paul Clemens who has just one start under his belt this season where he allowed three solo home runs against in a home loss to the Rockies on Monday.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise to see the Cubs as the favorite in this one, opening the day at -173. They’ve performed well in this spot recently, posting a 7-3 record in their last 10 games as road favorites. The Marlins have struggled as home underdogs, going 3-7 in their last 10 games in that situation.

Blue Jays Looking to End Slide vs White Sox

Josh Donaldson Blue Jays

The Toronto Blue Jays have now lost six straight games to the suddenly resurgent Chicago White Sox who won three of four games in Boston and the first game of this series last night. Toronto has now lost four of their last five and will send RA Dickey to the mound to try to turn things around.

Unfortunately for Jays’ backers, things aren’t exactly looking up for Dickey. In his last start against the White Sox in late April, he allowed six earned runs in six innings of work, and in five day starts this season, he has an ugly 4.71 ERA. On the bright side for the knuckleballer, he’s done his best work on the road this season, with a 2.98 ERA in eight starts outside of Toronto.

Chicago will send Miguel Gonzalez to the mound, who’s gotten lit up in his three home starts this season, going 1-2 with a 5.87 ERA

Keep an eye on the total, which opened the day at 9.5. The teams have combined to go 3-8 OVER/UNDER in their last 11 games.

Belgium Gaining Momentum into Round of 16

Belgium Euro 2016

One of the great stories of Euro 2016 has been that of Hungary, who has defied the odds by advancing out of the group stage and into the Round of 16. Trouble for Hungary is that their next opponent is one of the better teams in the tournament and could very well be hitting its stride as Belgium looks to continue its quest for international silverware.

Croatia Look to Continue Magical Run at Euros

One of the best teams in the tournament so far will take on one of the most disappointing teams in the tournament so far in a matchup between Croatia and Portugal. If you don’t know which one is one is which, maybe you shouldn’t be betting on this game.
