Odds to Win 64th Annual Miss Universe

The countdown is on to see who will be crowned as Miss Universe with the beauty pageant taking place this Sunday in Las Vegas. For some, the event is the premier beauty competition in the world, while others will argue that Miss World is the truest measure of greatest in the pageant circuit. Either way, both casual and hardcore observers will tune in to see which woman will be named as the universe’s representative.

Louisiana Tech Dominating the Sun Belt

Louisiana Tech football NCAA

Louisiana Tech was just one win away from competing for the C-USA Championship, but instead will face the Arkansas State Red Wolves in the New Orleans Bowl on December 19. The Bulldogs should enjoy seeing a Sun Belt opponent as they are 9-0 SU in their past nine against the conference.

Former Florida quarterback Jeff Driskel has found success at Louisiana Tech, as the senior completed nearly 62 percent of his passes for 24 touchdowns and just eight interceptions this season. However, he had his worst outing of the season in his last game, throwing three interceptions in a rout to Southern Mississippi.

The Red Wolves have been dominating to close out the season as the team has averaged 42.6 points in eight consecutive wins. Arkansas State averaged 5.0 yards per carry (28th in the nation) while finding the endzone 33 times on the ground (11th in the nation).

Georgia State Covering Coming Off a Win

Georgia State Football

The Georgia State Panthers ended their season in a flurry with four consecutive wins to book themselves a trip to the Cure Bowl, but that winning streak also extended a profitable run at the betting window as Georgia State is 5-0 ATS in their past five following a win. The Panthers will take on San Jose State on December 19 in Orlando.

Georgia State has been in the midst of a minor miracle season, as the team has won just one game in the past two seasons before going 6-6 this year. After getting manhandled in the early half of the season, the Panthers defense excelled during the final four games with the team holding opponents to 14.3 points per game.

The Spartans are just one of three teams to make a bowl game with a 5-7 record this year. Tyler Ervin has carried San Jose State’s offense with the senior rushing for 1469 yards and 13 touchdowns this season.  Ervin has averaged 175.4 yards in the Spartans wins this season, but just 84.6 in losses.

Ohio Enjoying Success vs the Sun Belt

Ohio State Football

Ohio may be coming into the Camellia Bowl with two less wins than Appalachian State, but the Bobcats have beaten up on the Sun Belt with the team going a perfect 5-0 SU and ATS against the conference. Ohio and Appalachian State will clash in Montgomery on December 19.

Ohio closed out their season right with three consecutive wins by a combined score of 101-52. The Bobcats rushing game exploded in those three contests with Ohio tallying 895 yards and four touchdowns.

The Mountaineers don’t have a lot of holes to exploit with the team ranking in the top 20 in points scored and points allowed this season. The sixth ranked rushing attack will get the headlines, but quarterback Taylor Lamb is sixth in the nation in passer efficiency.

Utah Easily Covering Against BYU

Utah NCAA Football

Utah may have limped to the finish line, but a bowl game against BYU could spell good things to end the season for the Utes as they are 8-2 ATS in their past 10 games against the Cougars. Utah and BYU will meet for football supremacy in the state of Utah when they clash in the Las Vegas Bowl on December 19th.

The biggest variable in this game is the health of Utah star running back Devontae Booker. The senior missed the final two games of the season with a knee injury that will reportedly take four-to-six weeks to heal, which could put him in jeopardy to miss the game.

The Las Vegas Bowl will be the last game that Bronco Mendenhall coaches BYU as he has accepted the head coaching vacancy at Virginia. The Cougars offense has been amazing this season (averaging 37.0 ppg) despite starting freshman Tanner Magnum at quarterback. After Taysom Hill’s injury, Magnum stepped in to throw 21 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

Auburn Cashing Spread Tickets With Ease

Xavier has been unusually solid on the floor this season and will be looking to continue their hot play Saturday at home against Auburn. The 10th-ranked Musketeers are on the verge of their best start in school history and will be wrapping up a four-game homestand tonight.

Shark Bites
  • The OVER is 4-1 in the Musketeers last 5 non-conference games.
  • The Musketeers are 13-5 ATS in their last 18 vs. the Southeastern Conference.
  • The Tigers are 9-2-1 ATS in their last 12 games overall.

Xavier can tie its longest winning streak since 2008-09 with a win over Auburn. Totals bettors take note: both of these teams have been absolutely on fire for OVER bettors in recent weeks. The OVER is 4-1 in Xavier’s previous five and 5-0 in Auburn’s last five heading into the tilt.

The Musketeers are also red-hot against the spread, going 6-0 ATS in their last six contests.

Warriors Seeking Revenge vs Bucks

Curry Warriors

Ending the Warriors perfect streak to start the season appears to have gone to the Bucks’ head. The Bucks went a bit overboard celebrating the upset win, then followed it up with two losses, including one to the Lakers. The Warriors didn’t take kindly to the Bucks’ late game shenanigans in the game and oddsmakers have taken notice resulting in a massive opening spread of -19.

If you’re scared away by the huge spread, maybe you should take a closer look. The Warriors have a penchant for blowing out their competition, including five wins coming by 19 points or more. Four of those five wins of 19 or more have come at home. The Bucks, meanwhile, are just 1-4 ATS in their last five road games while Golden State in 4-1 ATS in their last five road games.

Golden State has scored in triple digits in every game but one this season, so it should come as no surprise that they’ve gone OVER in nine of their last ten games. Tonight’s total opened at 210.5, a number these teams failed to exceed in last weekend’s game where they combined for 203 points.

OVER Sizzling in Utah Games

Sixth-ranked Duke suffered a serious blow in the backcourt earlier this week as senior power forward Amile Jefferson broke his right foot in practice. That’s poor timing for the Blue Devils, as Saturday’s slate of college hoops action pits them against the Utah Utes.

Shark Bites
  • The OVER is 6-1 in Utes last 7 overall.
  • The Blue Devils are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall.
  • The Utes are 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games following an ATS win.

Utah features Jakob Poeltl, a sophomore center who has been absolutely on fire as of late. Poeltl is shooting 69.9 percent from the field and is averaging 19.1 points and 9.5 rebounds this season, meaning the loss of Jefferson could create huge matchup issues for the Dukies.

Duke has won three out of their last four meetings with Utah, including a 63-57 victory in the Sweet 16 clash during last season’s NCAA Tournament.

Dogs Cashing When Pistons, Bulls Meet

Detroit Pistons Andre Drummond

The Chicago Bulls are starting to look like a team that could contend for the NBA title with 2015 winding down and will look to collect their fifth win in a row when they welcome the Detroit Pistons to town Friday. Tonight’s contest marks the end of a five-game home stand and finish a stretch of nine of 10 games at the United Center.

Shark Bites
  • The underdog is 4-0 ATS in the last 4 meetings between the Bulls and Pistons.
  • The Pistons are 5-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings between the Bulls and Pistons in Chicago.
  • The OVER is 4-0 in the Pistons' last 4 overall.

The Pistons (15-12, 15-11-1 ATS) have won three of their last four to sit tied for eighth in the crowded Eastern Conference standings. Detroit has historically been a solid play against Miami, going 4-0 ATS in their last four meetings with the Heat.

As solid as Chicago has been on the floor lately, they’ve been far from a safe bet when it comes to producing on a consistent basis at the betting window. The Bulls are 1-8 ATS in their last nine games following an ATS win.
