NBA Odds: Raptors vs Hornets

Charlotte Hornets Kemba Walker

In the wake of a forgettable loss to the Indiana Pacers on Monday, the Toronto Raptors will need to wipe the slate clean and start fresh Thursday when they take on the Hornets in Charlotte. Despite the loss, the Raps have played well even without injured key players Jonas Valanciunas and DeMarre Carroll, winning eight of 12 games since the big Lithuanian went down with a hand injury.

Shark Bites
  • The Raptors are 1-4 ATS in the last 5 meetings with the Hornets in Charlotte.
  • The UNDER is 4-1 in the Raptors last 5 overall.
  • The Hornets are 2-8 ATS in their last 10 vs. the Atlantic Division.

The Hornets are no slouch, however. Playing in its second game of a back to back stint, Charlotte features four guards averaging in double figures scoring led by Nicolas Batum and Kemba Walker. The Hornets have dropped two straight to the Magic and Celtics after claiming four in a row.

When the Raps and Hornets get together at Time Warner Cable Arena, tight games tend to follow. Of the last seven meetings between the clubs in North Carolina, six have been decided by six points or less.

Canadiens Dominating Kings In Montreal

PK Subban

A visit from the Los Angeles Kings could be exactly what the doctor ordered for the slumping Montreal Canadiens Thursday. The Habs , who have just two wins in their past eight games, are 13-2 in their last 15 games when the Kings come to the Bell Centre.

The Canadiens’ offense has been struggling since losing top-line winger Brendan Gallagher as the team has averaged 2.5 goals without him in the lineup compared to 3.5 with him on the ice.  Montreal is also making a change on the backend as Andrei Markov has been replaced in the top defensive pairing with P.K. Subban for Nathan Beaulieu.

After starting the season with wins in five of their first six road games, the Kings have gone 3-2-1 in their last six games travelling. LA has been great at getting at least one point in their games as they have notched one point in nine of their past 10 games (7-1-2).

NCAAB Betting: Hampton vs SMU

SMU Mustangs Jordan Tolbert

The undefeated Southern Methodist University Mustangs have been rolling in the early stages of the college basketball season, entering Thursday’s home tilt against the Hampton Pirates with a spotless 8-0 SU record. The Mustangs are historically extremely tough to beat at Moody Coliseum, AKA one of the toughest places to play in the nation, and are 6-0 in front of their hometown fans on the year. SMU is 40-3 at home since the start of the 2013-14 campaign.

Shark Bites
  • The Pirates are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 non-conference games.
  • The OVER is 4-1 in the Mustangs' last 5 games.
  • The Pirates are 7-0 ATS in their last 7 games following a straight up win.

Playing without two of its starters, SMU ran over Nicholls State 86-42 while shooting at least 50 percent from the floor for the sixth time this season and holding the Colonels to a paltry 25.4 percent shooting.

The Pirates are the lesser known team, but perhaps it’s time bettors got acquainted with the squad. Hampton has covered the closing spread in 11 of its last 12 games ahead of the contest.

NHL: Scorching Hot Flames Visit Stars

The Calgary Flames have been largely irrelevant for the past several season, with last years playoff run being the exception, but the team is one of the hottest in the NHL right now. The Flames are on a six-game winning streak and have averaged four goals per game in that span. If Calgary wants to be taken seriously though, they will need to put on a good showing against the No.1 team in the league Thursday when they visit the Dallas Stars.

Johnny Gaudreau continues to look like one of the best young goal-scorers in the NHL as the diminutive winger has tallied seven goals and four assists while posting a plus-nine rating during the Flames six-game streak. Johnny Hockey currently sits seventh in the NHL in points and has one goal against the Stars already this season.

The Stars will be looking to avenge a 4-3 shootout loss to the Flames in Calgary in their first meeting of the season. Tyler Seguin was held scoreless in that affair, but has since notched eight points in the six games.

New Mexico a Strong ATS Bet vs Arizona

New Mexico Football NCAA

New Mexico gets the luxury of playing in the New Mexico Bowl when they take on the Arizona Wildcats in Albuquerque on December 19th. The Lobos have enjoyed success against the Wildcats, with New Mexico covering in the past three meetings between the two teams.

New Mexico has clinched their first winning season since 2007 thanks to a revived offense that is heavily based on the rushing attack. The Lobos are averaging 246.6 yards per game, which is good for ninth in the nation, with three different players rushing for 600-plus yards and six or more touchdowns.

Arizona was supposed to be better than .500 this season, but injures decimated the team from the early goings of the season. The Wildcats limped to the finish line of the regular season with a 1-4 record in their past five with an average scoring margin of minus 13 points.

NFL Week 15 OddsShark Computer Picks

I don’t think many people expected a 51-point day from the Jacksonville Jaguars last week, but it was exactly what we got. The Jags put up the most points in their team’s not-so-illustrious existence thanks to a performance that saw the offense, defense and special teams all score. The OddsShark Super Computer is a supporter of the Jags as it has tabbed Jacksonville to pound the Atlanta Falcons 31.1-16.6.

Arizona Unable To Cover Against NAU

The Arizona Wildcats have been steamrolling Northern Arizona, which should not be much of a surprise, but inflated spreads have caused bettors to avoid the chalk. Arizona is 2-4-1 ATS in their past seven contests against Northern Arizona despite averaging a 19.4 point margin of victory in that span.

Inconsistency continues to plague the Wildcats this season as they opened their season winning their first four games by nearly 20 points per game, but then needed overtime to beat Santa Clara and lost to Providence.  The last four games have seen freshman Allonzo Trier start to round into form as he has averaged 17.3 points on 70 percent shooting.

NAU has not picked up a win in Tucson since 1966 and has yet to win a true road game this season. The Lumberjacks do offer some offensive depth, with four players averaging double-digit points this season.

The OVER is Hot in Warriors Games

Steph Curry Warriors

After suffering their first loss of the season after a historic 24-0 start, the Warriors will look to start a new streak when they host the Suns at Oracle Arena. The Warriors have won four straight vs Phoenix which includes a 135-116 victory in late November.

It’s certainly not a shock to see the Warriors open as double digit favorites in this one, as the line opened at -12.5. Golden State has covered in five of their last six games vs the Suns and six of their 10 home wins have come by double digits.

The Suns have struggled on the road this season, posting a 4-9 SU record. They’ve also struggled against other Western Conference teams, going 1-7 SU and 2-6 ATS in their last eight vs Western Conference opponents.

The game opened with a total of 219.5 which is the highest total of any NBA game tonight. The high number shouldn’t come as a surprise as Golden State leads the NBA in points per game, while Phoenix is fourth. The Warriors have seen the total go OVER in eight of their last nine games, while the Suns have gone OVER in four straight after losing the previous game in a matchup.

NCAAB Betting: Tulane vs North Carolina

North Carolina Tar Heels Brice Johnson

The North Carolina Tar Heels suffered their second defeat of the season at the hands of the Texas Longhorns on Saturday but suffered an even bigger loss when forward Kennedy Meeks left the game with a bone bruise in his left knee. Meeks is expected to miss at least two weeks as a result, which means UNC will need the rest of their squad to step up Wednesday when they take on the Tulane Green Wave.

Shark Bites
  • Tulane is 2-8 SU in its last 10 games after a win.
  • The total has gone UNDER in North Carolina's last four games after losing as a favorite.
  • Tulane is 6-2 ATS in its last eight games on the road in December.

Sportsbooks initially opened Tulane as 23-point underdogs for the tilt, something that will surely appeal to UNDER bettors. In Tulane’s previous 12 games when labeled as underdogs, the UNDER has gone 9-3.

The Tar Heels have traditionally been a solid bet to bounce back after suffering a defeat. UNC is 6-1-1 ATS in their last eight games coming off a SU loss.
