NHL Betting Odds: Opening Night

The Stanley Cup champion Boston Bruins are just three months removed from their victory parade and now it’s time to defend their title as they face off against the new-look Philadelphia Flyers in opening night NHL betting action on Thursday.

It will be a noisy building in Boston with the banner raising, and the emotion will charge up the champions. The Bruins are listed as a -145 moneyline favorite at 5Dimes, while the OVER/UNDER is sitting at 5.5 goals.

NFL Betting Lines: Texans lose Johnson

The biggest name to hit the injury list over the weekend was Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson, who left Houston’s game against Pittsburgh in the second quarter with a hamstring injury.

That injury is projected to keep Johnson out of action for three weeks, so he won’t be available this Sunday when Houston takes on the Oakland Raiders at home. With Johnson out and backup running backs Derrick Ward (ankle) and Ben Tate (groin) both considered questionable, look for Arian Foster to get plenty of work.

Over Unders Dominate Week 5 Trends

If you bet UNDER the total the last eight times the Saints visited the Panthers, you'd have cashed eight winning tickets.

With that perfect 8-0 situation looming on the Week 5 NFL odds menu, is it too tempting to pass up, especially given that 11 of 13 meetings overall between New Orleans and Carolina have gone UNDER the number?

Or is it fool's gold with Cam Newton and Drew Brees ready to blow the lid off the opening total of 52.5?

Cal Huge Dogs vs Oregon

The Oregon Ducks will try to stay undefeated in conference play and keep their slim BCS Championship hopes alive when they host California this Thursday night.

Though Oregon has won their last two games against Cal, they are just 1-4 ATS against them in their last five meetings.

LaMichael James rushed for 288 yards in Oregon’s last game against Arizona.

MLB Playoffs: Phillies vs. Cards Odds

Lance Berkman and the Cardinals will play host to the Phillies in Game 4 of their National League Division Series on Wednesday night, knowing they let Game 3 sllip away.

Edwin Jackson (12-9, 3.79 ERA) is slated to start for the Cardinals on Wednesday, with Roy Oswalt (9-10, 3.69 ERA) getting the ball for the Phillies. Philadelphia won Game 3 on Tuesday to take a 2-1 series lead.

Oswalt hammered the Cardinals in September but has struggled against them in recent years, with his team going 1-7 in his prior eight starts against St. Louis.

Oswalt is 5-0 with a 3.25 ERA in 10 career postseason starts, including 2-0 with a 3.15 ERA in three against the Cardinals.

But check out the Cardinal run against RHP starters - before losing to Roy Halladay in Game 1, the Cards were on a 15-3 run against righty starters. [ Bet tons of player props on strikeouts and home runs and more at Bovada today ]

Lions vs. Bears: Opening NFL Lines

Last week’s NFL action once again showed that no lead is safe, but it also showed that the Detroit Lions just might be the real deal. For the second straight week, they overcame a huge deficit on the road to win, this time at the expense of the Dallas Cowboys.

This week, Detroit gets the spotlight on Monday Night Football, where they are a 6-point favorite at home against the division rival Chicago Bears.

Brewers Look for NLDS Sweep: Preview

The Diamondbacks look to avoid a sweep as the Milwaukee Brewers visit for Game 3 of the NLDS.
Milwaukee puts its faith in starter Shaun Marcum to earn a win and advance to the NLCS and boost his personal mark of 13-7. Getting the ball for the Diamondbacks is Josh Collmenter, who owns a 9-10 record on the season with a 3.59 ERA.

CFL Betting Odds: Week 15

Winnipeg (8-5) has lost four of their last five games and hope to get back on track as they travel to Hamilton (7-6) for Friday night CFL betting action.

Despite the Tiger-Cats losing both head-to-head matchups this season, 5Dimes gives the edge to Hamilton at home by a 4.5-point spread, with the total sitting at 53 for the contest.

Hamilton defeated Toronto 27-12 last week and covered the 3.5-point spread in victory. That game’s combined score went UNDER the posted total of 54 set by oddsmakers.

MLB Odds: Phillies vs. Cardinals

Cole Hamels (14-9, 2.79 ERA) will head to the mound for the Phillies on Tuesday for Game 3 of their NLDS with the Cardinals.

St. Louis counters with Jaime Garcia (13-7, 3.56 ERA) in the third game of the best-of-five set. The Cardinals tied up the series at one win apiece with a victory in Game 2 on Sunday night.
