MNF Betting Preview: Giants at Dolphins

Monday Night Football Giants Dolphins

The Week 14 edition of Monday Night Football puts the eyes of the nation squarely on a pair of teams who are desperately clinging to playoff hopes, as the New York Giants take their show on the road to face off against the Miami Dolphins in the Sunshine State. The Giants have played well against Miami as of late, emerging triumphant in five out of their last six versus the Fish.

Shark Bites
  • The total has gone UNDER in 10 of the Dolphins' last 14 games in December.
  • The Dolphins are 1-5 SU and 0-6 ATS in their last six MNF games.
  • The total has gone UNDER in seven of the Giants' last nine games on the road in December.

For some reason the Dolphins just can’t cover the spread at home recently. Miami has gone 1-7 ATS in its last eight games at Sun Life Stadium.

Underdogs have been the profitable wager in this series. In the last five meetings between the clubs, the favored side is 0-5 ATS.

Gonzaga Has Been An UNDER Machine

The college basketball slate leaves a lot to be desired Monday, but the No. 20 ranked Gonzaga Bulldogs offer some intriguing betting angles. The UNDER is 7-1 in Gonzaga’s eight games with a listed total this season, their contest against Mount St. Mary’s did not draw enough interest for books to post. The Bulldogs will look to continue cashing out for total bettors when they host the St. Martin’s Saints Monday.

Gonzaga has been struggling without senior center Przemek Karnowski as they have gone just 2-2 without him in the lineup including two losses to Pac-12 opponents. The Bulldogs defense has been playing their usual tough-nose style and has only allowed 62.3 points per game.

St. Martin’s comes in this game with tempered expectations, which means they are expecting to get beaten up pretty bad. The Saints played one other D-1 school this season and it resulted in a 86-62 loss to Idaho.

Crosby and Ovechkin Rivalry Continues

Sidney Crosby and Alexander Ovechkin are forever linked, but after more than a decade in the NHL it has been Sid the Kid and the Pittsburgh Penguins who have the upper hand. The Penguins are 22-12 in the 34 games against the Caps with both Crosby and Ovie in their respective lineups.

Both Crosby and Ovechkin has revelled in the spotlight of their big games against one another as Sid has scored 18 goals and 33 assists while Ovie has 22 goals and 16 assists against one another.

This will be the first game behind the bench for Mike Sullivan after the Penguins fired coach Mike Johnston as the team is just 15-10-3 so far this season. Sullivan led Pittsburgh AHL affiliate Wilkes-Barre/Scranton to a league leading 18-5-0-0 record.

Clippers Have Had Pistons' Number

Los Angeles Clippers DeAndre Jordan

The Los Angeles Clippers have been far from the model of consistency this season but have gotten their act together in recent weeks to improve to 14-10 SU on the season. Next up on the docket is a team the Clips have enjoyed facing in recent years, the Detroit Pistons.

Shark Bites
  • The total has gone OVER in six of the Pistons' last eight games.
  • The Clippers are 10-3 SU in their last 13 games against the Eastern Conference.
  • The total has gone OVER in 10 of the Clippers' last 14 games on the road.

L.A. is a sizzling 9-0 SU in its last nine contests with the Pistons, including a 101-96 victory on Nov. 14. The Palace of Auburn Hills has been a boon for OVER bettors when these teams have met, as the OVER is 5-1 in the last six meetings between the Pacers and Clips in Motown.

When tabbed as underdogs at home, the Pistons are a solid bet. Detroit is 7-2 SU and 8-1 ATS in their last nine games as home pups.

Raptors are a Fantastic Bet vs Pacers

Toronto Raptors Kyle Lowry

The Toronto Raptors have historically had the Indiana Pacers’ number and will be looking to continue their hot play Monday at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. The Raps have gone 6-2 SU and have covered the closing spread in each of their last eight meetings with Indiana.

Shark Bites
  • The Raptors are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 road games.
  • The OVER is 4-1 in the Pacers last 5 overall.
  • The Raptors are 7-0 ATS in the last 7 meetings with the Pacers in Indiana.

The Pacers are coming off a forgettable stretch that saw them lose four of their last five games. Indy has failed to parlay a strong November into December thanks largely in part to a total collapse on the defensive end of the floor. Indiana is allowing an average of 123.5 points in their last four defeats, which came at the hands of the Pistons, Warriors, Jazz and Trail Blazers.

Raptors’ small forward DeMarre Carroll is expected to miss his fifth straight contest with a knee injury, but the Dinos have fared well in his absence, going 4-1 SU during that span.

Best and Worst Bets of NCAAF Season

With the regular season wrapped up and only the bowl games remaining, we take a look back at which teams were the best and worst bets of the season in college football. If you have notions of seeing your Alabama’s and Oklahoma’s here, think again because the best bets are always flying under-the-radar.

SNF Betting Preview: Patriots at Texans

Sunday Night Football Patriots Texans

In the wake of back-to-back losses, oddsmakers aren’t giving the banged up New England Patriots a lot of respect in Week 14 against the Houston Texans in the Lone Star State. Most sportsbooks opened the Pats as 3.5-point chalk – the second lowest spread in their favor so far in the 2015 campaign.

Shark Bites
  • The Patriots are 22-4 SU in their last 26 games in December.
  • The total has gone OVER in the Patriots' last six games against the Texans.
  • The Patriots are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games after a loss.

Trend seekers will be happy to know the Patriots have traditionally matched up well against Houston, owning a 4-1 ATS record in their last five clashes with the Texans.

The Texans were winners of four in a row prior to last week’s tilt with the Buffalo Bills but were brought down to life thanks to a 30-21 loss at Ralph Wilson Stadium. The Patriots looked like a different team than we’re used to seeing against Philadelphia and were clearly missing some key pieces on offense in Rob Gronkowski and Julian Edelman. If New England loses three in a row, there may be a slight sense of panic in Massachusetts.

NCAAB Betting: Mizzou vs Arizona

Kadeem Allen Arizona

The Arizona Wildcats are good, but they have been amazing on home court as they are currently riding a 44-game winning streak at the McKale Center. The Wildcats will be hosting the Mizzou Tigers Sunday, a team that has not won a true road game since February 2014.

Arizona is coming off a win that saw freshman Allonzo Trier put on a breakthrough performance. The Seattle-native scored 27 points and shot 80 percent from the field in an 85-72 win over Fresno State. The Wildcats may be undefeated, but the final scores have not inspired a lot of confidence, with three of their last four wins coming by single-digits.

Mizzou enters this game riding a three-game winning streak on the back of two freshmen. The Wildcats top two scorers this season are Kevin Puryear (14.1) and Terrence Phillips (10.0) who are both in their first season in college.

Thunder Have Been Squashing Jazz

Despite a 15-8 SU record this season, the Oklahoma City Thunder have been faltering when it comes to covering the spread with a lousy 10-13 ATS mark. However, the Thunder have been cashing out when they face the Utah Jazz, the team they will play Sunday, as OKC is 14-8-1 ATS in the past 23 meetings between the teams.

Oklahoma City has won the past eight games against the Jazz, including a 94-90 win on Friday in the first game in this home-and-home set. In two games against the Jazz this season, Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook have combined for an average 46 points, 14 rebounds and ten assists.

The Jazz will need to start scoring if they expect to end their eight game skid against the Thunder as Utah has not score more than 96 points once in those outings. Utah went just eight of 28 from beyond the arc Friday, despite ranking seventh in the NBA in that category.

Canucks Unable to Win On The Road

Ryan Miller Vancouver Canucks

If the Vancouver Canucks expect to be a legitimate playoff caliber team, they will need to start getting it done on the road. Since the start of November the Canucks have just two wins in 11 games away from Vancouver. It will not be easy for the Canucks to rectify the situation Sunday as they visit the Chicago Blackhawks.

The Canucks offense has been a two-man show once again with the Sedin twins combining for 62 points and a +12 rating through 30 games. Vancouver has allowed the ninth most goals in the NHL this season with goalie Ryan Miller posting a pedestrian .914 save percentage.

You can’t talk about the Blackhawks without talking about Patrick Kane who leads the NHL in goals and points. If Kane puts up a point tonight he will extend his streak to 26 consecutive games with at least one point, which would be the longest streak since Mats Sundin hit 30 in 1992-92.
