NBA: Hawks Easily Going UNDER Lately

The Atlanta Hawks have gone under in five consecutive games thanks to some largely inflated totals. In Atlanta’s past five games the closing total has been nearly 206 on average, while the Hawks and their opponents are combining for just 193.8 points per game. The Hawks host the San Antonio Spurs Saturday, in a game that seems destined to close with a low total.

The Hawks have been much better at home this season as they have posted an 8-4 SU record at Philips Arena despite going just 6-6 ATS. In four games in the month of December, Paul Millsap continues to show he is the first look for the multi-faceted Hawks as he has averaged 14 points and nine rebounds this month.

After a slow start with his new team, LaMarcus Aldridge is starting to find his place on the Spurs. The big man has averaged 19.6 points on 55.4 percent of shooting with 7.8 rebounds in the past five games.

Army-Navy Game Betting Odds Preview

Navy Football

Navy will attempt to make it 13 SU wins in a row vs Army in the annual Army-Navy game in Philadelphia this Saturday. The #21 ranked Midshipmen opened as heavy favorites but are just 2-4 ATS in their last six games vs Army.

Navy is led by Keenan Reynolds who’s expected to receive Heisman consideration after leading the team’s triple option offense to a 9-2 SU record. The senior quarterback rushed for 1093 yards and 19 touchdowns this season.

Navy has been on the right end of plenty of blowouts this season, winning their nine games by an average of 23.55 points. The Black Knights managed to keep some games close, but their nine losses have come by an average of 10.44 points.

Of note for those analyzing the OVER/UNDER which opened at 53, this matchup has gone UNDER in five straight games.

In the 85 game history of the Army-Navy game, Navy leads the series 43-38-4.

UFC: Rousey vs Holm Rematch Odds

The sports world was shocked when MMA’s most dominant fighter, Ronda Rousey, was dethroned by Holly Holm. Not only did Holm do the unthinkable by beating the previously undefeated Rousey, but she delivered one of the most one sided beatdowns in recent history. Rousey’s aggressive style backfired which allowed Holm to completely pick her apart for six minutes.

NFL Week 14 Expert Betting Odds Picks

Just 26 points were scored when Cincinnati defeated Pittsburgh, 16-10, in Week 5. Look for far more points to be scored in Sunday's rematch. I like the total to go OVER 49 points.

Ben Roethlisberger had just come back from missing four games with a knee injury when the Bengals defeated the Steelers. Roethlisberger is healthy now and has thrown 10 touchdown passes in his last four games while averaging 383.2 yards passing during this span.

Nover: Cardinals, Panthers & Bucs Notes

Admit it. You laid the points with Arizona against Minnesota on Thursday night. How could you not?

The Vikings had just lost by 31 points to Seattle at home, had three key defensive injuries and were playing an elite opponent on the road in a short week.

The Cardinals were steamed up from being seven-point opening line favorites all the way to 10.5, closing a consensus minus 10. One well known Internet bet shop even got as high as Arizona minus 11.5.

Cavaliers vs the Best Bet in the NBA

LeBron James

Tonight the best team is the league will play host to the Cleveland Cavaliers. No, I’m not talking about the Warriors, I’m talking about the Orlando Magic, who are an NBA best 16-6 ATS. Maybe that was a little misleading off the top, but come on, this is a betting preview.

Despite a middle of the pack 12-10 SU record, the Magic are an absolutely sizzling bet right row, winning eight straight games ATS. Cleveland, meanwhile has been producing opposite results, losing five straight games ATS. The Cavs have also been a poor bet on the road, going just 1-7 ATS in their last eight road games.

Cleveland, however, has absolutely owned the Magic in recent years. They’ve won 12 games in a row ATS and 11 in a row SU. In their last 10 games against each other, Cleveland has averaged 14 points more per game.

The total opened at 197.5, which is a mark these teams surpassed in their last matchup in November—a 117-103 Cavs win. Neither team is trending hard in either direction in terms of OVER/UNDER record, but the total has gone over in five of the last six games between these teams in Orlando.

Pacers Cooling Off at the Betting Window

Indiana Pacers Paul George

The Indiana Pacers ended November as the hottest team in the NBA but it’s been a different story in December. The Pacers, who play host to Miami on Friday, have dropped three in a row to the Warriors, Jazz and Trail Blazers ahead of the tilt.

Shark Bites
  • The Pacers are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games.
  • The Heat are 4-11 ATS in their last 15 road games.
  • The OVER is 4-1 in the Pacers last 5 overall.

Miami is playing its second game of a five-game road trip and is coming off a less than impressive 99-81 loss to Charlotte on Wednesday in which they performed haphazardly at both ends of the floor. The Heat (12-8) haven’t been much of a spread bet this season at 9-11 ATS but are one of the best UNDER bets in the league at 4-16 OVER/UNDER.

Indiana has been dominant at the betting window when facing the Heat, going 5-0 ATS in its last five versus Miami.

UFC TUF 22 Finale: Edgar vs Mendes

Frankie Edgar Chad Emndes

If Aldo vs McGregor is the best featherweight fight ever, then Frankie Edgar vs Chad Mendes is perhaps the second greatest fight in the division’s history. This is a fight fantasy matchmakers have been trying to make for years and it’s finally going down on Friday night. Edgar enters the fight as a -135 favorite at Bovada with Mendes at +105.

Penguins a Hot Bet at Home in December

Crosby Malkin Penguins

Tonight it Pittsburgh Sidney Crosby and the Penguins will host the Pacific Division leading Los Angeles Kings who are winners in five straight games. The Pens are on a minor slide as of late, winning just two of their last six games, but going back to last season, they’ve been a dominant home team in December, posting a 13-2 SU record.

Pittsburgh has had Los Angeles’ number in recent years, going 8-3 in their last 11 games against them, but the Kings got the better of the Pens just last week, beating them 5-3 in Los Angeles. In their two previous games last season, Pittsburgh shut the Kings out by scores of 1-0 and 3-0.

OVER/UNDER bettors take note—the total has gone UNDER in 13 of the Penguins’ last 14 games when playing on one day’s rest.

Flyers Have Been Bad On The Road

The Philadelphia Flyers have been pretty mediocre this season, but that mediocrity turns into some downright poor play on the road. In their past 25 games away from Philly, the Flyers are just 8-17. The Flyers will have an uphill battle Friday when they visit the league leading Dallas Stars.

If the Flyers have one safe haven away from Philly it is Dallas, where they are 4-1 in their past five appearances. Though offense has been hard to come by for the Flyers (2.07 gpg) you can’t blame Claude Giroux who has five goals and nine assists in the past nine games.

The Stars have been great at the American Airlines Center this season with the team sporting a 10-3 record and averaging nearly four goals per game on home ice. Valeri Nichushkin has been a big part of the Stars offensive attack lately, as the youngster has scored two goals and five assists in Dallas’ past five games.
