Yankees open series at Camden Yards

The New York Yankees will be on the road at Camden Yards on Monday night as they open up a key four-game MLB betting series against the division-rival Baltimore Orioles.

The Yankees are 4-2 over their last six games against the Orioles, although Baltimore has the slight edge at 8-7 in the 15 games between the AL East teams so far in 2013. The OVER/UNDER went 4-9-2 for totals bettors in those games.

CC Sabathia, with a record of 13-11 on the season, gets the ball for the Yankees, while the Orioles trot Chris Tillman to the mound in this one. He is 15-5 so far in 2013.

Cowboys Giants Betting Preview for Week 1

The Cowboys are 3-point favorites, but don’t be surprised if the Giants are the more popular bet by kickoff.

New York has dominated this series in recent years and Eli Manning has never lost in four trips to new Cowboys Stadium.

Dallas is 6-13-1 against the spread versus the Giants in the last 20 meetings. The Cowboys have covered only once in the last two years versus the Giants and are 6-14 against the spread in their last 20 home games.

New York, however, did struggle on the road down the stretch last season, losing their last four away games straight up and against the spread.

The Cowboys have struggled to a 2-12 ATS mark in their past 14 games within the NFC East and they are 1-5 SU & ATS past 6 at home vs the Giants.

Dallas is 5-1 ATS in the past 6 Week 1 games, while an UNDER trend prevails in Giants road games (9-1 past 10).

Dodgers vs. Reds on Sunday Night MLB

Clayton Kershaw will head to the mound for the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday night as they take on the Cincinnati Reds in primetime action to close out the week's MLB schedule.

Kershaw has a 14-8 record and a tiny 1.89 ERA on the season, and in his seven career starts against the Reds he's 2-1 with a 2.81 ERA. The lefthander held Cincinnati to one run in eight innings when he last faced them back on July 26.

Cincinnati sends Homer Bailey out to the mound for this game; Bailey is 10-10 with a 3.42 ERA on the season.

Spread surges in Patriots vs Bills opener

The New England Patriots have dominated the Buffalo Bills for the last decade-plus, and they'll try to continue to do so when the AFC East rivals meet for their 2013 season opener Sunday in Orchard Park (1 pm ET, CBS).

As of late this week the Patriots, who have beaten the Bills 23 of the last 25 times they've played, were favored by 11.5 points over home-dogged Buffalo.

Tom Brady and Co. are 7-1-1 ATS in their past nine visits to Buffalo, where a rookie quarterback and a new coach await the Pats to start the season.

The Bills are on a 6-2 ATS run their past 8 season openers. The Pats offense usually starts quickly, as their 9-2 mark favoring the OVER in 11 recent September games indicates.

Gators vs Hurricanes betting preview

The Gators opened as 2-point road favorites in the first meeting between these two in-state rivals since 2008.

The Gators looked strong defensively in an opening win over Toledo, despite five players being suspended and multiple others missing the game with injuries. Most of the players who sat out against Toledo are supposed to be back to face Miami, a team expected to contend in the ACC in coach Al Golden’s second season.

Star running back Duke Johnson rushed for 186 yards and a touchdown in the Hurricanes’ 34-6 opening win over Florida Atlantic.

Miami went 3-0 as a home underdog last season and is 5-2 in that situation over the past 10 seasons.

Wolverines vs Fighting Irish Betting Report

The Wolverines opened as 3-point home favorites over the Irish in an intriguing Week 2 matchup that will tell us a lot about these two squads.

Notre Dame ended a three-game losing streak to the Wolverines last season in a turnover-filled 13-6 home victory. The win jumpstarted the Irish’s run to the BCS title game.

Irish quarterback Tommy Rees passed for 346 yards, and the defense was impressive in a 28-6 opening win over Temple in Week 1.

Michigan blew out Central Michigan, 59-9, in its opener, behind a balanced attack led by quarterback Devin Gardner.

The Wolverines have won 15 straight home games, going 10-5 against the spread during that stretch. They have also won and covered three straight at home to the Irish.

Georgia vs South Carolina betting pick

Georgia opened as a 4 ½-point home favorite over a South Carolina team that has dominated this SEC series under coach Steve Spurrier.

The Gamecocks are 6-1-1 against the spread versus Georgia in Spurrier’s eight seasons. South Carolina has covered the spread in the last four meetings, including in last season’s 35-7 rout of the Bulldogs in Columbia, S.C.

South Carolina looked solid, especially defensively, in its 27-10 opening win over a talented North Carolina team.

Georgia surrendered 467 yards in its 38-35 opening loss at Clemson. The Bulldogs’ offense, led by senior quarterback Aaron Murray and sophomore running back Todd Gurley, put up big numbers, but couldn’t overcome two turnovers, eight penalties and some sloppy special teams play against Clemson.

South Carolina has dominated this series, going 10-3-2 ATS since 2000.

Oregon big road chalk at Virginia

Oregon opened as a 23.5-point road favorite against Virginia and the role of road chalk has suited the Ducks just fine lately.

The Ducks have covered seven straight games as a road favorite and are 32-20 against the spread in road games over the past 10 years.

The Cavaliers’ defense managed to slow down BYU in a 19-16 comeback victory in Week 1. Holding Oregon to 16 points would be a remarkable accomplishment.

In new head coach Mark Helfrich’s debut, the Ducks hung 66 on overmatched Nicholls State. The combination of quarterback Marcus Mariotta and De’Anthony Thomas give Oregon a pair of weapons that Virginia may not have an answer for.

The Cavs are 3-6 against the spread as home underdogs under coach Mike London.

Oregon is on a 8-1 ATS run as a favorite.

Ohio State vs San Diego State Odds Preview

The Ohio State Buckeyes survived a minor scare to open their season last week against Buffalo but couldn't cover the spread as big home favorites.

They're big chalk again for their game against the San Diego State Aztecs Saturday afternoon at the Horseshoe in Columbus (3:30 pm ET, ABC/ESPN2).

In the early betting the Buckeyes, who let the Bulls get to within 30-20 last Saturday and failed to cover at -34, were favored by 28 points over the Aztecs, who opened their season by getting upset by Eastern Illinois.

This week, they opened as 24-point chalk, but were bet to 4 TDs by Tuesday, watch for line moves this week.

San Diego State is 5-1 ATS their past six games as a double-digit dog, while the Buckeyes are 1-6 ATS in their past seven games in their role as double-digit chalk.

Dodgers open up series in Cincinnati

Righthander Mike Leake will take the mound for the Cincinnati Reds on Friday night as they open up a three-game MLB betting series at home against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Leake sits at 11-6 with a 3.51 ERA on the season, and he was knocked around for six runs on eight hits over 4 1-3 innings of work in his last start against the Rockies. The Reds only have two wins over Leake's last seven trips to the mound.

Chris Capuano gets the ball for the Dodgers in this game; Capuano is 4-7 on the year and has a 4.53 ERA.
