Warriors Face Massive Chalk vs Mavs

Dirk Nowitzki Stephen Curry

The Golden State Warriors will have revenge on their minds Wednesday when the Dallas Mavericks invade Oracle Arena. The Mavs knocked off the Warriors 114-91 on December 30, but that was without all world point guard Stephen Curry. “Chef Curry” is back, and sportsbooks have noticed. Most shops opened the Dubs as 15.5-point home chalk for the tilt.

Shark Bites
  • The Mavericks are 1-6 ATS in their last seven games against the Warriors.
  • The Warriors are 2-9 ATS in their last 11 games with one day off between games.
  • The Mavericks are 5-0 SU and 4-1 ATS in their last five games after consecutive ATS losses.

Steve Kerr’s crew have been far from a reliable play as huge faves as of late, however. Golden State is 20-0 SU in its last 20 when favored by 15.5 points or more, but have covered the closing spread just five times.

Tonight’s contest marks the first time the Mavs have been this big of underdogs in the 2015-16 NBA campaign. Dirk Nowitzki and company have been dogs of 10 points or more four times and are 1-3 ATS in those games.

When the Mavericks face off against Western Conference foes, the UNDER has been a hot bet. Thirteen of Dallas’s previous 18 matchup versus the West have gone below the total.

Cavaliers Failing to Cover Huge Spreads

LeBron James Brandon Knight

One of the most lopsided games of the NBA season takes place Wednesday when the Eastern Conference-leading Cleveland Cavaliers play host to Western Conference cellar dwellers, the Phoenix Suns. Oddsmakers are clearly expecting this to be a blowout and have opened the Cavs as 16-point favorites for the affair, but smart NBA bettors shouldn’t be chomping at the bit to lay that much chalk with the wine and gold.

Shark Bites
  • The Cavaliers are 7-2 SU in their last nine games against the Western Conference.
  • The total has gone OVER in eight of the Suns' last 11 games as underdogs.
  • The total has gone OVER in four of the Cavaliers' last five games at home.

Cleveland has faced double-digit spreads on 11 occasions this season are an ugly 3-7-1 ATS in those games despite winning 10 of them outright. The Suns (14-32 SU), who are in the midst of a historically bad season, have been tabbed as double-digit underdogs eight times and have gone 3-5 ATS in that span. Phoenix is also 0-6 ATS on the road in its last six away from the desert.

As good as Cleveland’s record looks on paper (31-12 SU), things are far from perfect in “The Land.” The Cavs are less than a week removed from the surprise firing of then head coach David Blatt, a move that saw former associate bench boss Tyronne Lue take over the reigns. Trade rumors continue to swirl over Kevin Love’s head as the power forward is once again struggling to fit in as the third option behind LeBron James and Kyrie Irving.

Here’s what we know: the Suns are awful, and the Cavs are a good team that’s slowly but surely finding its way at the midpoint of the season. Hoops bettors should tread with caution.

Who ya got: Suns or Cavs? Let us know in the comment section below.

Road Team Can’t Cover In Big 12 Battle

Baylor will look to claim top spot in the Big 12 when they visit the Oklahoma State Wednesday, but bettors should be weary of the Bears. The road team is just 4-14-1 ATS in the last 19 games between the Bears and Cowboys.

Baylor is 2-1 SU in their last three outings, but they have not looked great doing so. The Bears, who lead the Big 12 in turnover differential, has turned the ball over 49 times in those games while registering one less assist. Rico Gathers had one of his best outings of the season when Baylor played Oklahoma State on January 5, with the senior notching 17 points and 17 rebounds.

It seems like a crapshoot as to which Oklahoma State team you will see in any given game. Will we see the Cowboys that started 1-4 ni conference play or the team that beat then third ranked Kansas by 19 points? Point man Jawun Evans has been growing into his role as leader of the Oklahoma State offense with freshman averaging 21.8 points, 6.3 rebounds and 5.6 assists over the past four games.

Federer and Djokovic Clash in Semifinal

Roger Federer Novak Djokovic Australian Open

There are four great semifinal matchups across the men’s and women’s draws at the Australian Open, but perhaps none has tennis fans and bettors excited more than Roger Federer versus Novak Djokovic.

This will be the 45th career meeting between the two tennis stars and with the pair so closely matched in talent, it’s fitting that the two each own 22 wins against the other heading into their most recent meeting in Melbourne.

Avs Hope to Rebound at Kings Tonight

Nathan MacKinnon Drew Doughty Avalanche Kings NHL

The Los Angeles Kings will look to find a bit of consistency when they host the Colorado Avalanche Wednesday night. Following a four-game win streak to end December, the Kings have posted a middling record of 6-4-1 in 11 January games, but still hold a lead over the San Jose Sharks.

Shark Bites
  • The Avalanche are 9-3 SU in their last 12 games following a loss in their previous outing.
  • UNDER is 5-2 in the Kings’ last seven home games in January.
  • The Kings are 1-4 SU in their last five games following a win in their previous outing.

The Kings, presently -203 at online book BetOnline, will be desperate to stave off the rapidly charging Sharks, who have won eight of their last 10 games, closing the Kings’ Pacific Division lead to seven points heading into Wednesday night’s NHL schedule.

Semyon Varlamov, Colorado’s regular No. 1 netminder, has already been sorely missed and will continue to be absent while he is a defendant in a domestic violence trial from a 2013 charge brought by his ex-girlfriend.

The Avalanche had a four-game winning streak snapped by those Sharks losing 6-1 Tuesday night in San Jose. Calvin Pickard and Roman Will allowed five goals on just 23 San Jose hosts in defeat. The Avs, however, will be buoyed by the fact that they defeated the Kings by a score of 4-1 the last times these teams met earlier this month.

Best UFC Betting Sites

As one of the fastest growing sports markets in the world, The UFC is proving to be a powerhouse in the sports betting industry. Interest in betting on main card fights has grown with its popularity as well. While Moneyline bets make up for a large majority of UFC bets made, there are a few other options available for those who want to make it a bit more interesting.

Best Soccer Betting Sites

Also known as football in many countries around the globe, soccer is easily one of the most popular sports in the world. Soccer is available worldwide and that offers plenty of leagues to bet on in regards to soccer betting. The score of soccer matches are rather low which makes the games very intense and suspenseful to watch. The three major soccer leagues and events to keep an eye on are Euro Cup Soccer, Major League Soccer and The World Cup.

Best MLB Betting Sites

Known widely as America’s pastime, the MLB has been a part of US culture for over 100 years and counting. While MLB viewership is rather high, in comparison to the other professional sports in the US, MLB betting is not nearly as popular. That is not to say there are not ample opportunities to bet on MLB games; the number of games in the regular season nearly doubles both NHL and NBA. More games; more opportunities to bet.

Nover: Teaser Betting Paid Big at Books

When it comes to the NFL, oddsmakers have hurt themselves by actually doing too good of a job. This is most evident when it comes to teaser betting. A teaser bet being a parlay of at least two straight bets where each individual line is stretched by six, 6.5 or seven points laying added juice.

Best NHL Betting Sites

Even with a loyal and passionate hockey following in Canada, the NHL struggles to compete with leagues like the NFL and MLB for viewership. The Northeastern United States and Canada make up for a large portion of NHL viewers along with a few European markets who, despite having their own leagues, still follow the NHL closely. With 82 regular season games and 30 teams, much like the NBA; the NHL is still a great option when it comes to sports betting.
