Justin Rose PGA

As the 2016 PGA Tour season marches on, a stop in the Bayou State is up next with the 2016 edition of the Zurich Classic of New Orleans set to get underway on Thursday. When it comes to odds lists, a familiar face is out in front.

World No. 1 Jason Day is currently a +500 favorite at Bovada, while Justin Rose (+800), Rickie Fowler (+1100), Billy Horschel (+1800) and Charlie Hoffman (+1800) are right on his heels.

NBA Playoffs: Exact Series Outcome Odds

JJ Redick Los Angeles Clippers

Let’s face it: futures bets can sometimes be a drag. Sure, I can place a bet on my Green Bay Packers to win Super Bowl LI (which is a lock, by the way) before the NFL season starts but now my money is going to be tied up until February. When it comes to the NBA playoffs, however, there’s a different type of option available with a not so distant payoff: exact series outcome betting.

2016 Russian Grand Prix Odds

Nico Rosberg Mercedes Russian Grand Prix Formula 1

Nobody is surprised that Mercedes has come out and won three-straight races to open the Formula 1 season. It may come as somewhat of a shock that it is Nico Rosberg and not Lewis Hamilton that has crossed the finish line first as the German has been in dominant form early in the season.

Blazers Seeking to Even Series With Clips

Blake Griffin Damian Lillard

It took two games for the Portland Trail Blazers to find their groove, but the bunch from Rip City lit it up in a 96-88 home win over the Los Angeles Clippers in Game 3. Game 4, which takes place on Monday, will give the Blazers an opportunity to even up the series after the Clips took Games 1 and 2.

Shark Bites
  • The Trail Blazers are 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games after an ATS win.
  • The Clippers are 5-0 SU and ATS in their last five games with one day off between games.
  • The Trail Blazers are 1-3 SU and 0-4 ATS in their last four games after a win.

Home court advantage continues to be huge in this series, as visiting clubs are 0-4 SU in the last four meetings between the squads. Damian Lillard was cold in the first two affairs but put up 27 points while making 11 of 22 from the field in Game 3, while backcourt mate CJ McCollum totalled 27 points on 11-of-22 shooting in the victory.

Don’t fault Chris Paul for the loss, though. The Clippers point guard has averaged 26.3 points, 8.3 assists and five rebounds in the series.

Oddsmakers opened the total for the matchup at 206.5, a number that will greatly appeal to UNDER bettors. The UNDER is 9-1 in the Clippers’ last 10 with a closing total of 206.5 or more.

Heat are Excellent at Bouncing Back

After a pair of blowout losses, the Charlotte Hornets bounced back in a big way in Game 3 of their Eastern Conference first-round series with the Miami Heat. Charlotte stormed back on Saturday, topping Miami 96-80 thanks to a strong performance from rookie Frank Kaminsky. Game 4 goes tonight in Charlotte.

Shark Bites
  • The Hornets are 2-5 ATS in their last seven games as home favorites.
  • The Heat are 10-4 ATS in their last 14 games as an underdog of 3.0 or less.
  • The Hornets are 8-1 SU in their last nine games as favorites.

Miami has been a fantastic bounce back bet, however. The Heat are 9-0 SU in their last nine coming off a loss. The Heat, who opened as 2.5-point underdogs, are also 10-4 ATS in their previous 14 when tabbed as dogs of 3 points or less.

While the Hornets walked away with the W in Game 3, they’ll need to improve their shooting if they wish to have a fighting chance for the rest of the series. Charlotte shot only 38.9 percent from the field in the contest but were sharp in basically every other facet of the game, going 21-for-22 from the foul line while committing only four turnovers. Miami shot 19-for-30 from the charity stripe and turned the ball over 15 times.

Miami big man Hassan Whiteside sat out of Sunday’s practice with a bruised right thing but the center has stated he’s receiving treatment and does not expect to miss Game 4.

Cardinals Dominating The Diamondbacks

The St. Louis Cardinals have been making easy work of the Arizona Diamondbacks when the two clubs meet, as the Cards have won each of the past eight meetings. The Cardinals have outscored the D-Backs 36-17 in those outings with Arizona failing to score three or more runs in four of those games.

The Diamondbacks will look to reverse that trend when they send ace Zack Greinke to the mound Monday. Greinke struggled to start the season, but has started to steady himself recently, with the right-hander allowing just three earned runs in his past two outings combined.

The Cards will send Jaime Garcia, who has a perfect career record against the D-Backs, to the bump Monday. Garcia is 5-0 with a 2.51 ERA in five career starts against the D-Backs, with two of those victories coming last season.

Rested Syndergaard Should Scare Reds

Noah Syndergaard will get the start for the New York Mets when they start a series against the Cincinnati Reds Monday and Thor will be doing so with plenty of rest. Syndergaard, who will be coming into the game with six days rest thanks to Jacob deGrom’s return to the lineup last week, has posted a career 2.62 ERA with six days rest vs 3.18 with fewer.

The Reds will counter Syndergaard with Raisel Iglesias who has been solid this season. The Cuban pitcher has posted a 3.09 ERA with a 22/5 strikeout-to-walk ratio in four starts.

The Mets enter this series as winners of six of their past seven, though five of those wins came against bottom-feeders in the Atlanta Braves and Philadelphia Phillies. Neil Walker’s addition to the lineup has proven to be well worth it for the Mets, as the shortstop has gone 10-for-25 with five runs and four home runs in the past six games.

History Not on Blues’ Side in Game 7s

Chicago Blackhawks St. Louis Blues NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs

Less than one week ago, the St. Louis Blues were up 3-1 in their opening round series against the Chicago Blackhawks and many were expecting an eventual Western Conference semifinal appearance. Fast forward to today and the series is tied at three games apiece and the Blackhawks own all the momentum after rallying to victory in Game 6 Saturday.

Shark Bites
  • The Blues are 4-1 SU in their last five games after a loss.
  • The last time the Blues won a Game 7 Joel Quenneville was their head coach.
  • The Blackhawks are 1-5 SU in their last six games after consecutive wins.

Online shop Bovada is presently offering the Blackhawks at -115 in moneyline markets while the Blues are -105. The total is tabbed at 5 goals with OVER at -105 and UNDER currently -115.

The Blues cruised to a 3-1 lead after just 11 minutes of play in Game 6 and looked to be headed to the next round. That just proved to be a perfect microcosm of this series as a whole as the Blackhawks battled back and scored three goals in the second period and prevailed 6-3 to force Game 7.

The mere mention of “Game 7” sends shivers down the spines of Blues fans. The Blues enter Monday’s contest with three-straight losses in a seventh-and-deciding game and are losers of seven of their last nine. They lost by a score of 4-1 to the Vancouver Canucks back in the 2003 playoffs.

Granted, that was 13 years ago, but these historical trends have a way of haunting a franchise no matter what names are on the roster. Want some more historical data? The last time these two teams met in a Game 7 was 1990 when the Blackhawks won 8-2 thanks to a five-point performance from Steve Larmer.

Is OKC Getting Too Many Points?

Russell Westbrook Dirk Nowitzki

The Dallas Mavericks-Oklahoma City Thunder Western Conference first-round series has been a roller coaster ride so far, but the Mavs are on their last legs heading into Game 5 on Monday. OKC, which owns a 3-1 series lead and opened as 14-point favorites, is a brutal 1-6 ATS in its last seven when set as chalk of 14 points or more.

Shark Bites
  • The Thunder are 7-1 SU in their last eight games as home favorites.
  • The total has gone UNDER in five of the Mavericks' last six games as road underdogs.
  • The total has gone OVER in five of the Thunder' last seven games with a closing total of 205.0 or more.

Superstar forward Kevin Durant will need to put on a better showing throughout the rest of the playoffs. Durant was ejected in Game 4 for a flagrant foul and has been wildly inconsistent. The Slim Reaper shot a combined 18 of 40 for 28.5 points per game in Games 1 and 3 but went 14 of 53 for an average of 20 in the other two tilts.

Another trend that favors the Mavs: Dallas is 9-3 ATS in its last 12 road games. Dirk Nowitzki and company are also 4-1 SU and ATS in their last five after consecutive losses.

Ducks Go for Fourth-Straight Win Monday

Anaheim Ducks Nashville Predators NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs

Frederik Andersen has not singlehandedly won three-straight games for the Anaheim Ducks, but he has certainly played a very big part in digging his team out of a 0-2 hole against the Nashville Predators. The Ducks have really started hitting their stride since making the goaltending change from John Gibson to Andersen after Game 2 and can wrap things up in Tennessee Monday night.

Shark Bites
  • The Ducks are 4-0 SU in their last four games on the road.
  • The Predators are 2-5 SU in their last seven games after a loss.
  • The Ducks are 6-2 SU in their last eight games in Nashville.

Online book Bovada is presently offering the Ducks at -120 in moneyline markets while the Predators come in at EVEN odds and both sides of the 5-goal total are currently -110.

Andersen is 3-0 with a 1.00 goals against average and .966 save percentage in three starts versus the Preds in the series. The Dane stopped 27 shots in Anaheim’s 5-2 win in Game 5 and improved to 7-1 with a 2.16 goals against average and a .931 save percentage in nine career appearances in the regular season and playoffs combined. Makes you wonder why Bruce Boudreau didn’t go with him off the bat.

The Preds have been tepid since starting the series with a pair of 3-2 wins in California. The Ducks have been tough to score on when they are forced to kill penalties all season long, but the Preds must capitalize on the man advantage. The Predators are 0-14 on the power play in the past three games and are just 1-22 in the series.
