NFL Thanksgiving Day Primer

Matthew Stafford Calvin Johnson Detroit Lions

The NFL tradition of Thanksgiving Day football continues in Week 12 with three games on the slate. The day will kickoff with the Lions hosting the Eagles in a game that might be messier than a box store stampede on Black Friday. The most glamourous game features to 10-0 Carolina Panthers vs the always polarizing Dallas Cowboys, and an NFC North rivalry will close things out when the Bears visit the Packers.

Spartans Have Been Perfect SU, ATS

After making it to the Final Four last season, the Michigan State Spartans seem hungrier than ever to win it all. Though the season is young, Michigan State is a perfect 4-0 SU and 3-0 ATS with their game against lowly Arkansas-Pine Buff not getting a listed spread. The Spartans will look to remain flawless when they take on Boston College at the Wooden Legacy tournament Thursday.

Michigan State won a tight contest against the Kansas Jayhawks 79-73 last week, but has won the remainder of their games by an average of 32.3 points. Senior Denzel Valentine is lighting up early with the guard averaging 15.3 points, 9.8 assists and 9.0 rebounds this season.

Boston College opened their season with three consecutive wins and will be looking to make it four-straight for the first time since the 2007-08 season. The Eagles have been blowing out their opponents just like Michigan State, with Boston College winning by an average of 21.3 points.

NCAAB Betting: Stanford vs Villanova

The ninth-ranked Villanova Wildcats will be looking to keep the good times rolling when they face Stanford in the semifinals of the NIT Season Tip-Off Thursday in Brooklyn, New York. The Cats improved to 4-0 for the third time in as many years after topping Akron in the campus round of the tournament while extending their winning streak versus non-conference competition to 19 games.

Shark Bites
 • The Cardinal are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games.
 • The UNDER is 5-2-1 in the Wildcats last 8 games.
 • The Cardinal are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games vs. Big East opponents.

The Wildcats and Cardinal have only met once -- all the way back in 1970 which saw Nova emerge victorious by a score of 96-76. If Villanova can consistently find their offensive rhythm, wins are normally pretty easy to come by. The Wildcats have won 34 straight games when scoring 70 points or more.

Stanford narrowly missed out on the NCAA Tournament last year, but Thursday could provide a big boost for the Cardinal to get back to the dance if they can come away with a win.

NFL Odds: Perfect Panthers vs Cowboys

Cam Newton Panthers

The special Week 12 edition of NFL Thanksgiving Day football just got a whole lot more interesting thanks to the return of Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo last week.

Along with the Lions, the Cowboys are the only other team in the league that hosts a Thanksgiving game each season and this year’s clash with the undefeated Carolina Panthers is shaping up to be a good one. Sportsbooks are expecting this to be a close game, as most shops opened the line at a pick ‘em.

The Cowboys are 8-3 SU in their last 11 TNF games.

The Panthers are 6-2 SU in their last 8 games on the road in November.

The total has gone UNDER in 4 of the Cowboys' last 5 games in November.

Carolina has been one of the most impressive teams in the NFL this season and doesn’t appear to be slowing down any time soon. Thanks to a 44-16 blowout of the Washington Redskins, the Panthers improved to 10-0 SU and 8-2 ATS on the year.

Cutler Has Awful History vs Packers

Chicago Bears Jay Cutler

Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler has been maligned for many reasons in his career. Some NFL pundits have criticized him for being lackadaisical during games, others have questioned his leadership abilities while his penchant for committing costly turnovers has plagued him since entering the league with the Denver Broncos in 2006.

Some of those statements are debatable, and to be frank, a lot of the criticism surrounding Cutler has been downright unfair. But one thing cannot be argued: the Green Bay Packers absolutely own the Vanderbilt product.

2015 SuperContest: Week 12 Lines Out

The two remaining undefeated teams in the NFL may have their toughest tests of the season based on the lines on the Week 12 SuperContest Card.

Warriors vs 49ers Most Losses Prop

Green Warriors NBA

It’s been a historic season for the Golden State Warriors, as the team has now won 16 straight games to open the season, which set an NBA record. Not too far down the road from the Warriors, another Bay Area team has suffered a major regression, as the 3-7 San Francisco 49ers are among the worst teams in the NFL this year.

NFL Week 12 Betting Trends Analysis

If the New England Patriots are going to lose a regular-season game, it's likely going to happen Sunday night when they take on the Broncos in Denver.

The Patriots are without Dion Lewis and are thin in the offensive line and wide receiver, too, because of multiple injuries. The Broncos have won 11 of their last 13 home contests.

NFL Week 12 OddsShark Computer Picks

Houston Texans JJ Watt

Don’t look now, but the Houston Texans appear to be a real threat to make the playoffs. The OddsShark Super Computer certainly seems to be a believer in the Texans, with the computer projecting a 30.4-21.5 victory for Houston over the New Orleans Saints.

Virginia Has Been A Terrific OVER Play

The Virginia Cavaliers offense has started the season off on the right foot, which has led the team go OVER in each of their four games that have had totals listed this season. Virginia will take on the winless Lehigh Mountain Hawks Wednesday.

Virginia has averaged 81.2 points so far this season and has only once failed to eclipse the 80-point plateau. Since losing to George Washington in the second game, the Cavaliers have been dominating teams with an average scoring margin of plus-25.7 points.

Leigh can not seem to get their game going this season despite returner their top five scorers from last season. The Mountain Hawks have shot just 39 percent while turning the ball over 13.3 times per game this season.
