Heat Posting Ugly Numbers vs Spurs

Chris Bosh Tony Parker

The San Antonio Spurs open their eight-game road trip on Tuesday against a team they’ve historically dominated: the Miami Heat. Tim Duncan and company are a phenomenal 5-0 SU and ATS in their last five against the Heat.

Shark Bites
  • The Spurs are 9-1 SU in their last 10 games against the Eastern Conference.
  • The Heat are 2-5 SU and ATS in their last seven games with one day off between games.
  • The total has gone OVER in five of the Spurs' last six games on the road.

The Spurs haven’t lost at home yet this season (28-0 SU) but have gone a solid 15-8 on the road. San Antonio ranks in second in the Western Conference and has garnered victories in 18 of their last 20 games, including a surprising 106-102 nail biter to the lowly Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday.

Miami continues to be a fantastic play for UNDER bettors due to its penchant for participating in a lot of low-scoring games. The OVER/UNDER has gone 17-34 so far for the Heat, while also cashing in four of their previous five tilts heading into this one.

Warriors are a Lights Out Play vs Rockets

James Harden Stephen Curry

Just how good are the Golden State Warriors at home? The Dubs have won 42 straight at Oracle Arena and will be looking to push that number to 43 when the Houston Rockets come to town on Tuesday. The Rockets wave prevailed just once in their last 12 meetings with the Warriors.

Shark Bites
  • The Rockets are 3-11 ATS in their last 14 games after losing as favorite.
  • The total has gone OVER in six of the Rockets' last seven games on the road.
  • The favored team is 2-5 ATS in its last seven games in this matchup.

To say Houston has mailed it in before the coming All-Star break would be an understatement. The Rockets have dropped five of seven, namely due to a series of slow starts. That’s a trend that will need to be bucked if James Harden’s crew have any shot of reversing their fortunes against the Warriors.

Golden State is once again operating like a well-oiled machine, matching the 1966-67 Philadelphia 76ers for the best 50-game start in league history at 46-4 SU. The Western Conference leaders have won nine straight heading into the matchup.

Totals bettors, take note: the Warriors (29-21 O/U) and Rockets (30-23 O/U) rank as the top OVER bets in the Association this season. Houston has also gone above the closing total in 17 of their last 24 affairs. At the time of writing, the total for the game was off the board.

Kansas Looking for Revenge vs WVU

Kansas vs West Virginia

Two top 25 teams tip off tonight in college hoops action whne the West Virginia Mountaineers, owners of four covers in their last five games, visit the Kansas Jayhawks. The Jayhawks, who opened as 7-point favorites, will try to make it four wins in a row tonight, both SU and ATS.

This will be the second game between the teams this year, as West Virginia got the better of Kansas on January 12, beating them 74-63, easily covering the spread as 1-point underdogs. The Mountaineers forced 22 turnovers in the game and were led by forward Devin Williams who put up 17 points along with 12 rebounds. That game was at home, however, and this series hasn’t been kind to the visitor, as the home team is 6-0 SU in the last six games between the teams.

Being favorites of 7-points or more has treated Kansas well, as they’ve gone 12-5 ATS in their last 17 games in that spot. Another trend favoring the Jayhawks is that they’re a tough beat when playing with two days off between games, going 9-2 SU in their last 11 games in that situation.

Leafs Struggle in Visits to Calgary

Leo Komarov Johnny Gaudreau Maple Leafs Flames NHL

As the Toronto Maple Leafs do their best to ensure a high pick in the 2016 NHL Draft, it is tough to pick a spot to back them with confidence. Tuesday night is yet another one of those games where Leafs backers, if you’re still out there, should proceed with caution as their club visits the Calgary Flames.

Shark Bites
  • The visiting team is 3-15 SU in the last 18 games between the Leafs and Flames.
  • The Flames are 14-6 SU in their last 20 home games.
  • The Maple Leafs are 5-1 SU in their last six games with two days off in between games.

The Leafs don’t visit Cowtown often, but when they do, it usually results in a loss. The Leafs are just 1-8 in their last nine games in Calgary and are currently +115 pups at online book Bovada.

The Flames have been flickering of late but have won two of their last three games after a three-game losing skid heading into the All-Star Break. The Flames defeated both the Carolina Hurricanes and Vancouver Canucks by scores of 4-1 with a 2-1 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets sandwiched between those victories.

The last time these two clubs met in Calgary was in was on March 13 of last season. The Flames hammered the Leafs 6-3 behind three points (one goal, two assists) from Johnny Gaudreau. Toronto’s last win in Calgary came on October 30, 2013 in a 4-2 contest.

Scores are usually high when these two meet in Alberta as the OVER has hit in each of the last four contests at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

Is it a Good Night to Bet on Villanova?

Villanova Wildcats

The newly minter #1 team in the nation, the Villanova Wildcats, will look to make it 11 straight wins over the DePaul Blue Demons when the teams face off tonight at Allstate Arena. Despite winning 12 out of their last 13 games, Villanova has been anything but a reliable bet. During the 13 game run, they’ve only managed to cover the spread six times.

Luckily for Villanova backers, DePaul isn’t very good… at anything. At just 4-7 ATS at home this season, DePaul has won just two of their last 11 games SU. With an opening spread of 13.5, it might be a good night for Nova backers to open their wallets. The team has gone 21-9 ATS in their last 30 games when favored by 13.5 or more, while DePaul is 5-15 ATS in their last 20 games as an underdog of 13.5 or less.

It’s also worth noting that 15 of Nova’s 20 wins this season have been by double-digits this season, including 11 wins by 15 or more points.

Big OVER Trend When Dubs Play Bad D's

Steph Curry Golden State Warriors

You may have noticed that Golden State Warriors totals have been on the rise lately.

Their last three OVER/UNDER totals have been the three highest of the NBA this season at 227 (at Wizards), 233.5 (vs OKC) and 229.5 (vs Rockets). And unless you don’t pay a shred of attention to the NBA, you have likely noticed why.

MLB Futures: Are the Red Sox Overrated?

David Price Red Sox

The 2015 Major League Baseball season was a down year for the Boston Red Sox. They finished dead last in the American League East for the second year in a row and their pitching staff ranked near the bottom of the league with an abysmal 4.31 ERA, well above the league average of 3.96.

That’s nothing $217 million can’t help, can it?
