Pats open as small road chalk in SF

A handful of Week 5 games shape up as games where significant line moves will happen during the week. We are looking at Jacksonville and San Francisco as locations for odds movement - for the Jaguars and against the 49ers.

The Eagles host the Redskins on Sunday and opened as 5-point favorites. What gives? Last week the Skins beat Dallas IN Dallas and the Eagles lost to the Bears. The Redskins are legit and many people saw that in their impressive win over Dallas.

The Eagles were not impressive in their loss, although injuries and some lame play-calling by Andy Reid contributed to the loss in a winnable game. If you combine those two factors, the public may pour money on the Skins to cover the spread, so that number may go down during the week. Betting early is wise if you want to take the Skins in this big NFC East game.

Pittsburgh beat the Ravens on Monday night 23-20 in overtime on Monday and now travels to Jacksonville to play the 2-2 Jaguars, who are favored by 3 points. The Steelers beat a Ravens team that has the league’s best defense, while the Jags needed overtime to beat the winless Houston Texans.

Jacksonville has the 23rd-ranked offense and the Steelers have the 2nd-ranked defense. Not a good combination for the Jaguars. The line may go down in this game and if you bet the Steelers take the line early, but if you want the Jags, you may want to wait it out. Remember the Steelers have a short week and have to travel, two factors working against them.

New England travels across the country to play the San Francisco 49’ers and is a road favorite of just 3 points. OK, so the Patriots do not have Brady and they lost to the Dolphins in their last game.

You think the public is going to bet on the 49ers over the Patriots? Expect this number to climb during the week against a 49er team that lost to the Saints. Wait it out if you are a 49er bettor and take the line early if you want to wager on the Patriots.
