Online Texas Holdem Introduction
So, you've finally decided to jump on the bandwagon and learn about online Texas Holdem. Don't worry. Learning the game is easy. It's winning and mastering it that is so hard.
A game of Texas Holdem is simply a series of hands. A hand begins by the placing of blind bets before any cards are dealt. There is a small and a big blind. The small blind is to the player to left of the dealer and the big blind is to the left of them.
Typically the big blind is double the small blind and is the lowest amount a player may bet.
Once the blinds have been posted all players are dealt two cards. These are known as hole cards or pocket cards. A round of betting follows starting with the player to the left of the big blind. Players must decide to call the big blind, raise or fold.

Once all players have called, raised or folded the flop is dealt. The flop consists of three cards dealt face up I the middle of the table. These are communal cards that anyone can use along with their hole cards to make a hand.
After the flop has been dealt there is another round of betting. This round begins with the player to the left of the dealer. Players may check (decide not to bet, but also not to fold), place a bet or fold.
After all players have bet or folded one card is dealt face up next to the flop. This card is called the turn or fourth street. It is another communal card that can be used by all players in their hand. Another round of betting follows, again starting with the player to the left of the dealer.
After all players have bet or folded a final card is dealt face up on the table. This card is called the river or fifth street. After the river has been dealt one last round of betting begins starting with the player to the left of the dealer.
After all remaining players have bet it's time for the showdown. This is where players show their cards and the player that has made the best five-card hand by combining their hole cards and the communal cards wins the pot.
