Can Pep go Unbeaten With Man City?

After Manchester City came out of Old Trafford unscathed in the first Manchester Derby on Saturday, the words "unbeaten" and "perfect" have started being tossed around just four games into the young Premier League season.

If you believe City has a chance to go 38 games with no losses, something that has only happened twice in Premier League history, you can head to Sportsbook and bet on that prop at an excellent +4000 price. The blue half of Manchester is currently 4-0 and has outscored opponents 11-4 but has only faced one team so far that placed sixth or better last season.

The closest a Pep Guardiola-managed team has gotten to going unbeaten is 31-6-1 — so pretty damn close — and he has managed teams that posted just two losses multiple times. That one-loss team was the 2009-10 Barcelona squad that featured Lionel Messi, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thierry Henry and outscored opponents by 74 goals.

I'm not saying this team has anywhere near the talent that the 2009-10 Barca team had but it does share a common player with that team in Yaya Toure. Man City looks like the best all-around team in England's top flight so far and is the current favorite to finish the season on top of the table.

Arsenal was the last team to go unbeaten when they went 26-12-0 in 2003-04 but with Pep’s brilliant track record in his short managerial career and with this dominant team he has helped assemble, the possibility of going unbeaten is legitimate and with juice being offered at Sportsbook it’s definitely worth a sprinkle.
