Croatia-Spain Battle for Group Supremacy

Ivan Rakitic Croatia Alvaro Morata Spain Euro 2016

Spain is in the driver’s seat in Group D entering the final match day, but a win by Croatia will upset the apple cart and give them the group crown. The Croats may have to do so without the services of one of the best players of the tournament as midfielder Luka Modric nurses a muscle injury suffered versus Czech Republic.

SHARK BITES
  • Spain won the last meeting between these two teams 1-0 back in 2012.
  • Spain has four wins, one draw and one loss in its last six matches overall.
  • Croatia had won three straight games overall before drawing with the Czechs.

Spain is presently Even odds in moneyline markets at online book Bovada while Croatia is priced at +340 and the Draw is +210. In spread betting, Spain is a 1.5-goal fave at Even odds and Croatia is -125 as the dog. As far as the total is concerned, both sides of the two-goal number are priced at -110.

Spain has been perfect thus far, grabbing all six points by scoring four goals and allowing just two through a pair of Group D contests. Young striker Alvaro Morata has been dangerous in front of goal for La Furia Roja and is coming off a two-goal performance against the Turks.

Croatia has been one of the more frustrating teams in the tourney. They were dominant for the majority of their contest versus the Czech Republic but conceded a pair of late goals and enter the fixture versus Spain with four points when it should be an easy six.

They have looked like the best team at Euro 2016 for large portions of the 180 minutes they’ve played but seem like they can fall asleep at the wheel making them a dangerous straight up wager in this or any match.
